Lost Planet 2: 'Day and Date launch on both platforms is the plan' says Capcom

Following a release schedule update on the official Japanese Lost Planet 2 site -- which seemed to indicate a window of exclusivity for Xbox 360 -- Capcom USA has confirmed to Joystiq that the game will ship for Microsoft and Sony's platforms simultaneously in the US and Europe. "Day and Date launch on both platforms is the plan," Capcom PR director Chris Kramer told us. "Might ship a bit earlier in Japan (like RE5), but US/European releases will be simultaneous."
Kramer couldn't confirm a hard release date, though, instead pointing to the timetable we've already seen. "Winter is the best we can do right now," he admitted. While there are those who undoubtedly want to see the Lost Planet sequel on shelves ASAP, it'd be a shame for it to get lost in the holiday shuffle.

I'm going to wait for the wii version on rails: Hard-to-get-lost Planet.
Damian @ Jun 12th 2009 6:49PM
Are the console versions 4 player co-op?
samik @ Jun 13th 2009 2:45PM
Seems like it

Looks a bit like Gears without the cover system
JD @ Jun 12th 2009 6:54PM
This game looks pretty tight.
Eroded Fallacy @ Jun 12th 2009 7:00PM
Why did it become such a big deal as to which console gets a certain game first? The whole point of owning a system is to play the games and be content with them, but now a days all people do is bitch and complain about boo hoo i don't want the PS3 to have that game first & vice versa...
Damian @ Jun 12th 2009 7:11PM
Unfortuately this generation is riddled with fanboys and exclusives.
The games this gen are still great, but fanboys are what get me, see elpresador on youtube, and you will understand how bad fanboys are.
Levi @ Jun 12th 2009 8:04PM
becomes a big deal when you only have one system and want to play the game! :D
Marty @ Jun 12th 2009 7:03PM
What is Joystiq's policy on reporting rumors? Why didn't you guys confirm this before reporting what turned out to be a bogus rumor only hours before?
el serpiente @ Jun 12th 2009 7:30PM
Shame on Joystiq, you got Marty all excited that it was going to be xbox timed exclusive. Now what is he going to do with all the cupcakes he baked?
Deathbypanic @ Jun 12th 2009 7:09PM
I guess I should be an xbox then. :D Time to go do some more offers.
Cosmo @ Jun 12th 2009 7:46PM
Damn it Capcom, I know us little PC gamers are inconsequential, but is the PC version coming out the same time? : 0
yokel @ Jun 12th 2009 10:09PM
I would like to know. Considering Capcom isn't even metioning PC I would guess us PC gamers are going to have to wait a half a year (again) after Capcom gets it's biggest slice of money from the console game sales.
Cosmo @ Jun 12th 2009 10:21PM
Wouldn't be surprised, considering we're getting Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4, Bionic Commando, etc. months after the console release. At least we are getting the best, definitive versions of those games.
Levi @ Jun 12th 2009 8:05PM
Anybody play Colonies Edition? I'm thinking about buying it for my friend's 360 just to play through the extra stuff. I have the original version on PS3, and I'm a lil bummed we don't get the extras.
j.howlett @ Jun 12th 2009 10:15PM
i thought Colonies Edition had all the dlc on disc like the ps3 edition but did work with the original 360 edition. this confusion is why i haven't picked the game up yet
Levi @ Jun 13th 2009 1:10AM
I'm under the impression the extras aren't available for PS3. I also thought Colonies' extras wasn't available as DLC. I'll have to read up on it. I know that there was a first person mode in Colonies, and I'm 99% sure that's not on the PS3 version.
toonces @ Jun 13th 2009 8:43AM
There's still a large number of people that play colonies on 360. I think you can find it for 9.99. The online is where its at.

I loved the 1st Lost Planet, but man the 2nd one looks sic !! Capcom has really stepped it up a notch, and I for one appreciate the effort.
The only other thing Capcom needs to do now is give us some more info, (and maybe a release date), for Dead Rising 2.
Does anyone happen know where Capcom ranks, officially, amongst all publishers because I definitely think they deserve mad props as one of the best gaming companies ??
John @ Jun 13th 2009 2:58AM
In the last year I thought Capcom made a verbal commitment to PC gamers?!
/waiting for word on PC release of Lost Planet 2 and Dead Rising 2... And wtf about SF4?
(while biding my time I made the mistake of picking up Assasin's Creed 1 PC. C'mon Capcom, throw my Media/Gaming PC a bone!)
Jaklax @ Jun 14th 2009 5:26PM
ummm.. PC gaming is dead, it's basically a console for Blizzard. 1 or 2 games outside of blizzard may actually be solid, but 99.9% of the time the best exp is spent on a console (pref xbox, b/c sony online is weak)
A T @ Jun 14th 2009 12:32AM
I loved the first Lost Planet. Just awesome. This seems to have the same feeling of Gears, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Very excited for this one.
str8 drop niggaz @ Jun 18th 2009 12:12PM
im happy lost planet is coming out on both sytems at the same time great game
