Nintendo Wii sets US sales record

According to the latest NPD figures, the Wii has done more than introduce gaming to your grandma, as the console has managed to reach the 20 million mark in just 31 months on the market, MCV reports. That makes it the fastest-selling console in US history.

Following Nintendo's announcements for New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit Plus, we wonder if the console will ever run out of steam. Considering how well it continues to sell in this region, despite the poor economy, we doubt it will any time soon.

I hate to say it but anyone who bought a shamwow was asking for there money to be taken away.

I mean its in the name sham-wow as in wow this product is a sham. Now that some clever marketing.

Honestly, quite crying on here all of the time airjordan and just stop commenting on Wii threads. I've been gaming for over 25 years, started out with tapes in the Commodore 64 and the Atari, and I could care less about what you bring to the table.

If you care that much about the other systems then go cuddle with the other fanboys in their threads. You'll never change anyone's minds here.

I didn't even buy a system last gen because all its really been for awhile now is same sh*t, different resolution. But I've been enjoying this fresh take on controls and soon enough, you will be too. Everyone is gonna waggle sooner or later. E3 proved that.

Tmac. There are a variety of game types. I found just enough depth and substance in several Wii titles as I would find in any other. You have to go in knowing what you're getting. You can't compare the depth of Fallout 3 to Punch Out. That's just unfair.
Street Fighter IV looks shallow in comparison to the depth of Fallout or any huge RPG. Sometimes I just want to punch the crap out of racial stereotypes. Sometimes I want to explore the wastelands. Sometimes I want to experience a totally fucked up game like No More Heroes, or sit and crack out on Peggle for hours. If you go in with such a high criteria for every game, you're limiting yourself to a lot of really great games. It seems like you have a homogenous view on what games SHOULD be as opposed to what the game is. There's nothing wrong with that, but to flat out say that Game A doesn't have X amount of Z is just plain stupid.

Ha ha Tmac.. The more popular and the more influence the wii has on gaming the crazier you get. You keep flipping out tapping away at the keyboard trying to convince us "dirty masses" or "lemmings" that we've been tricked because we like something you don't... but nobody will listen, whats up with that?. That must be very frustrating for you.

With the way things are going (Microsoft and Sony trying to play catch up to Nintendo) you're going to have a nervous breakdown one of these days. Make sure you do it in a Wii thread. I don't want to miss out.
