Although Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 just shipped, NPD Group analyst Anita Frasier noted the EA published series has reached the milestone of a half-billion in US sales. Gamespot adds (via Forbes) that the game series is just one revenue stream for the 33-year-old athlete, who is set to hit $1 billion in career earning this year.
That's actually a nice looking Wii game, aside from the characters being a touch smooshy. Not to my taste, but nice to see a third party actually doing a decent job in that regard.
I can't wait either. Assuming motin control does hit in the Spring of next year (as was stated at E3), I think it's safe to say that the PS3 version will feature motion controls.
What's with all the down votes? There's nothing wrong with wishful thinking. Why are you crushing this little girls dream? I mean, she's just a little girl for crying out loud.
I play golf. I sometimes watch golf on tv. And I've enjoyed both Mario Golf (GC) and Super Swing Golf (Wii). But even I find the Tiger Woods games boring as hell! They've tried to make the courses look realistic but they just look drab. They've tried to make the characters realistic, but they lack all character. And I tried the PS3 demo of Tiger 10 - they advertised dynamic weather and crowds, well, the crowds are duplicates of the same three models placed randomly, all turning their heads in robotic unison, while it poured rain while no one wore rain gear or looked the slightest bit wet. I've seen better crowds in PS2 games!
$500 million divided by about 1000 damn Tiger Woods games on every single platform known to man...
$500,000 per version?
(Yes, it's an exaggeration. But I think it's a valid point that this is much less impressive when you look at how many different games they're counting. Just trying to cut through some of the bull.)
I love the Tiger Woods games, and have bought 3-4 copies over the years. The visuals are great, the feeling of the environments work well for me. I also like how they have tried in the last few versions to make it more than maxing out your characters stats and getting eagle's on every hole.
The big question is how much has Madden rolled in over the years?

Why can't I play golf as good as he can?

It is ridiculously hard for how easy it looks. I feel your pain.

I need to try the new game. I haven't bought one since the Gamecube. I didn't like some of the changes they've made since the one I have.

I wouldn't mind the revenue from just one Mr. Nimblewick game, and he gets thousands.

What EA is saying, is that it was Totally Worth It to pay royalties for the Tiger Woods name.

It's like comparing to a 3rd party Wii game (TW) to something that is printing money.
