WRUP: The Crackdown on inFamous Prototypes edition

Also, could someone give us an idea of how to block the Crackdown narrator from popping in our head and saying "Skills for kills, agent. Skills for kills" after every major inFamous and Prototype battle? What's everyone playing this weekend?
- Alexander Sliwinski (@XanderSliwinski): Finishing off inFamous and then diving straight into Prototype, which should be arriving this weekend from GameFly.
- Andrew Yoon: Going to start an evil playthrough of inFamous while taking some breaks for Uncharted 2 multiplayer.
- Ben Gilbert (@BigBossBgilbert): After settling in to the new apartment, I'll be playing my new roommate's copies of Battlefield: Bad Company and Rainbow Six Vegas 2, as both have incredible online modes that I hadn't explored. Also, when venturing out, I'll be playing his copy of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time on DS. Thanks, Shawn!
- Christopher Grant (@ChrisGrant): E3: beat. inFamous: beat. What's next? My backlog: Fable 2 DLC; Ninja Blade; Prince of Persia; Mirror's Edge; No More Heroes; Far Cry 2; and many more. Oh, and I got Peggle for my iPhone. For $1.
- David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle): I'm going to get back into InFamous, which E3 kept me from a whole week. The moral choices seem kind of silly so far, so I'm not taking them seriously and have chosen the evil route for Cole. On top of that, I'll likely play some Gears of War 2 this weekend, and try to get in on one of this weekend's 1 vs 100 shows.
- Dustin Burg (@SuperDunner): I just purchased a $5 copy of Far Cry 2, so I should dabble in that, but I'd much prefer running around Prototype. That is, if I can find a rentable copy. If all else fails, there's always Halo 3 and the teabagging joy it always seems to bring.
- Griffin McElroy (@griffinmcelroy): (Moving into his new fortress of solitude.)
- James Ransom-Wiley: Prayin' for sunshine!
- Jason Dobson (@eToyChest): (Using his new fire powers on mortgage brokers.)
- Jem Alexander (@Yembles): Almost got Ghostbusters beat. Fans of the movies will love it for the writing and cutscenes alone. Professional difficulty is a little ridiculous at times, but masochists get what they deserve. After that, I'll be spending some quality time with the Uncharted 2 beta, trying to get back those levels I lost when the latest patch hit.
- JC Fletcher (@jcfletcher): "MIAMI LAW." If you imagine Sylvester Stallone saying it, it kind of sounds like his catchprase from Judge Dredd. So that's pretty cool.
- Justin McElroy (@JustinMcElroy): Staff of Kings is staring my right in the face and daring me to play it. What should I do? I just don't know!
- Kevin Kelly (@gadgetguy): I bought the $19.99 versions of Burnout Paradise and Battlefield: Bad Company, and I've been playing through those why alternately zapping baddies in inFamous. Had hoped to be playing Battlefield: 1943 by now *glares at EA* but the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta will have to do. Also, I recently purchased Starcraft and The Brood War expansion (only $14.99 for the double package at Blizzard!) for my Mac, so you may never hear from me again.
- Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK): (Using his newly discovered X-ray vision.)
- Majed Athab: I think I'm going to put down the controller for awhile and give the old paper and pencil a go.
- Randy Nelson (@DangerPenguin): I think m'lady and I will seek out a *censored* copy of House of the Dead Overkill and *censored* kill some *censored* zombies over and over and over again. *censored* zombies! *censored*
- Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM): (Riding the rails.)
- Xav de Matos (@Xav): I'm actually sick, so this weekend I'll be in bed catching up on stuff E3 made me want to play. Hopefully a hearty dose of Forza Motorsport 2, Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Chaos Theory will help. Also, I'll probably go back to the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer beta.
- Justin Glow (@justinglow): (Leaping tall buildings.)

Crackdown was the best superhero game ive played yet. However, you are forgetting Incredible Hulk Path of Destruction or whatever for PS2 by Prototypes dev team. It was tits.
I will be playing The Lost and the Damned, and Maymester: Write 2 papers over the weekend for your english class and do your math assignments, whilst preparing for an exam 2: The brutal semester.
j.howlett @ Jun 12th 2009 10:55PM
that's the one game i want a 360 for and now the sequel.
Anonymouse @ Jun 12th 2009 11:36PM
Dude, do me a favor, and never ever ever compare any game to tits... Boobs are on their own unmatched level of superiority.
Boobs > Hulk
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 11:49PM
God damn i loved ultimate destruction, beat that shit 12 times and never got tired, nothing like throwing a street lamp throw a robot to impale him and pin him to a wall then punch the shit out of him, or, what i thought was a nice touch, grabbing a puny human and instead of crushing him, putting him down and patting him on the head
Van Faulk @ Jun 12th 2009 11:49PM
And yet She Hulk=Boobs + Hulk and therefore She Hulk>Boobs.
Levi @ Jun 13th 2009 12:16AM
he wasn't comparing them to tits, tits was the adjective. "This is awesome" = "This is tits" /= "This is like tits."
It's like using "ass" as an adjective or adverb. "That is sweet ass" = "That is totally awesome" /= "that is a totally sweet ass."
101 in white people ebonics.
rudolphe @ Jun 13th 2009 1:35AM
I wish you could follow someone's updates, because Anonymouse's comment was "The tits" lol
Chad Vanderbilt (Moptimus in Disguise) @ Jun 12th 2009 10:22PM

MaroX @ Jun 15th 2009 4:06PM
hell yea, i've been playing that game every night. Just can't stop.
reagan @ Jun 12th 2009 10:28PM
Gotta get the new achievements in Team Fortress 2! Spy's Sappin Mah Dispenser!
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 12th 2009 10:28PM
I was browsing Gamestop earlier this week and I bought NBA 2k9 and Too Human used, but my intentions are to return them before next week and get a 120gb hard drive. Turns out NBA doesn't work, scratched disc or something.
As for Too Human, this is easily one of the worst games I've played this gen. I've played Lair, a bit of Haze, and Two Worlds and Too Human could be the worst among those. Awful controls, awful combat, awful story full of so much nonsense and rambling that it's easy to see that Dyack made this game, bad voice acting, below par graphics, no map feature (that i'm aware of) for levels, and the levels themselves seem to go on forever. At this point I'm just suffering through it to get whatever achievements I can before returning it, but it's seriously testing my patience
As for games that I like, I played through a bit of Burnout Paradise's Big Surf Island and it's awesome. Small island, but there's so many side areas and little offroad areas. I also decided to buy Gunstar Heroes because it sounded familiar and when I played it I remembered it's one of my favorite Genesis games, I just couldn't remember the name.
Heh @ Jun 13th 2009 1:48AM
Gotta agree on Too Human. It was way "too deep" for me, because I hated it..and the game's camera seemed to hate me, too!
Games this weekend: Banjo Tooie (XBLA), Castle Crashers (XBLA), Team Fortress 2 (PC), Fallout 3 (PC), Left 4 Dead (360), Street Fighter IV (360), Banjo Kazoo: Nuts & Bolts (360), and Gears of War 2 (360). Busy weekend, indeed.
tcc3 @ Jun 12th 2009 10:29PM
{steps up onto a curb}
"Impressive ascent, Agent."
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 10:52PM
I loved it when the narrator messed up, I remember being told "We will send peace keepers to put you down agent" or whatever he said when you got out of hand, and all I was doing was calmly walking down the street
Steven @ Jun 12th 2009 11:05PM
{underground}
"I can see my house from here!"
Chad Vanderbilt (Moptimus in Disguise) @ Jun 12th 2009 10:30PM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO JUSTIN! DONT DO IT! unless its the PS2 or PSP version. The controls for the Wii one are supposed to be terrible
John @ Jun 12th 2009 10:33PM
Finished inFamous last week. On to Prototype right now. It's a bit of a transition from the precision grip of Cole to blasting around everywhere (often missing targets) with Alex, but I'll get used to it.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 10:55PM
that's pretty much the only problem im having with prototype so far, the combos are fairly limited, which I guess is okay considering the variety of powers, but the bigger problem is they arent very far reacching so it's hard to jump from target to target
Lunastra78 (PSN: lunastra78) @ Jun 12th 2009 10:36PM
I've bought alot of cheap games online, these are the ones yet unplayed:
Soul Calibur IV
Dark Sector
Fear 2
GTA IV
Pure
Army of Two
Far Cry 2
Condemned 2
Oblivion (gotten to lvl 20 but getting a bit tired of it so might have a break)
Then again, I might just go drinking instead ;)
spacesuit105 (PSN-spacesuit501) @ Jun 12th 2009 10:55PM
wow, thats a lot of gaming you have there, or just a lot of drinking. You choose...
MikeO. @ Jun 12th 2009 11:04PM
Dark Sector is pretty good if you just take it at face value and Far Cry 2 takes a while to get into.
You have to approach Far Cry 2 with the attitude that it's fun to get from place to place... because sometimes it can take a really long time to do that... but the map community is pretty fun and the ability to make your own multiplayer maps is awesome.
As for myself, I'm playing Red Faction: Guerilla and loving it and I'm eagerly awaiting Fight Night Round 4.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jun 13th 2009 12:10AM
No one plays Condemned 2 or F.E.A.R 2 online anymore If you need Help with the online achievements add me my gamertag is F102Deltadagger
KenSharp @ Jun 13th 2009 1:17AM
Well I'll be getting my ass kicked some more in Street Fighter 4
I'll be be checking out that new map pack for Killzone 2
Also will be dabbling in:
inFamous
MLB 09
Zen Pinball
Bomberman on the PSN
Chilly P @ Jun 13th 2009 12:02PM
Do yourself a favor and skip GTA IV
Lunastra78 (PSN: lunastra78) @ Jun 13th 2009 1:35PM
I'll add ya later beef, just let me play through the single player campaigns first. I started Pure and it's OK but is kinda lacking compared to Pacific Rift.
I'm leaning towards Fear 2 or Far Cy 2, i wanna shoot something.
mars @ Jun 12th 2009 10:39PM
I just got prototype, and so far i'm liking it, although the missions are repetitive, not fun, and sometimes very difficult, and the graphics blow. There are some control issues as well, but its very enjoyable as a pick up and play time waster, and I love just going around the city, wreaking havoc, killing/hijacking tanks and folk, and then morphing into a soldier and acting like i'm looking for Alex Mercer. Also, I've been playing forza 2 (Forza 3 made me all exited!) and godfather 2
kojo87 @ Jun 12th 2009 10:40PM
damnit you just made me remember how much i want Crackdown for PC. you suck
Ignatius @ Jun 12th 2009 11:00PM
Morbo is displeased with this turn of events!

j.howlett @ Jun 12th 2009 10:41PM

AJ D @ Jun 13th 2009 7:08AM
I played that game a few weeks ago and lost now I use component
j.howlett @ Jun 13th 2009 12:27PM
woohoo! fixed it by unplugging the tv for a minute.
Casey @ Jun 12th 2009 10:42PM
Gonna Finish DMC IV. Took a break to complete Left 4 Dead Via Gamefly. Huge stack of cheap purchases to get into. Probably going to try and start BAttlefield: Bad Company. Picked up Peggle for mi iPod Touch, will keep me busy on the bus.
My Bday party is this weekend, so having a Big Lebowski Bowling Party.
Will try and read less Joystiq and play more games.
Siiiick.
Jawmuncher @ Jun 12th 2009 10:46PM
Man Crackdown was such an awesome game.
I'll admit I bought it for the Halo 3 beta but once that begun I played it for 1 day and went wow, that wasnt worth 60 dollars thank god the game was and more.
Seriously that game was so awesome can't wait for crackdown 2
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jun 13th 2009 12:24AM
I actually wanted to play it before the beta was annouced but I actually bought it first day without looking at any review (that's usually what I do) for the Beta.
They should add local co-op,I never found anyone to play with online.
Brian @ Jun 13th 2009 1:38AM
the jumping in crackdown is what i loved it actually felt like you were falling and would actually have an impact. the second should be pretty sweet
hopefully you get to aim for real though the lock on isnt necasarry
panorama change @ Jun 12th 2009 10:46PM
I've been playing Prototype and enjoying it so far. Does anyone else consume multiple people then ascend a building? I don't know why but seeing those dismembering corpses circling Alex is both exhilarating and soothing at the same time...
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 10:50PM
I'm playing prototype and really digging it. I tend not to be able to play many games for long stretches, so I rented Destroy all Humans Path of the Furon. I heard it was pretty bad, but I really loved the first one so I figured it'd be a fun way to piss away a couple hours. Also as I type, im playing 1v100 and it's pretty cool, i didnt expect the host to be in the beta, and I really didnt expect him to be coming in so clear, i guess i thought he'd have a mic haha.
Sly [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 12th 2009 11:11PM
i loved destroy all humans 1, enjoyed destroy all humans 2, got appalled at the reviews for big willy unleashed (they cancelled the PSP version so i didn't get to play it), and gave up when i saw the reviews for path of the furon. the series had potential, too bad they ran it into the ground.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 11:20PM
I had 2, but I never played it because I got it after my 360, so I was just in shock from such a huge downgrade of the graphics that I never did it. So hopefully the time between my playing the first 1 and this one will give me the benefit of nostalgia to enjoy
pibs @ Jun 12th 2009 11:22PM
Yeah 1vs100 is pretty fun for being in Beta.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 11:24PM
does anyone know how to email to chris? i cant find anything on the games xbox.com page
nukee @ Jun 12th 2009 10:55PM
Finishing DiffEq homework. Then playing some inFamous and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. It'll be a nice and easy weekend.
Boye @ Jun 13th 2009 4:47AM
What! A fellow Illini. Ah DiffiQ, those were the days. Will be probably playing inFamous myself. Almost through with the evil path. I took a break and started the Killzone 2 campaign. Man, I really love that game.
old guy @ Jun 12th 2009 10:57PM
"It all went to shit...."
Best intro to a game ever.
Einhanderkiller @ Jun 12th 2009 10:58PM
Prototype. It's much better than I was expecting. The character movement is really fun and the performance is much better than Saint's Row 2 and GTA4. I get 40 to 60 FPS on average with max settings with a two-year-old graphics card. The graphics aren't stunning or anything, but they're good enough.
aaronx_x @ Jun 12th 2009 11:05PM
drakes fortune. loved finished and traded in infamous a few days ago. only $25
Rein @ Jun 12th 2009 11:07PM
This weekend I'll be playing try-to-pack-everything-into-your-tiny-suitcase-and-smuggle-3-boxes-of-dunkaroos-over-the-border-without-having-to-check-your-luggage game, and I'll be picking up both Prototype and my own copy of Fallout 3+DLC when I head back to the states on Monday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play games until Tuesday as I'm starting a 3 hour class a couple hours after I get home from the airport. I also have to start all my backlog PS2 games that I've been neglecting for over two years.
