Pushing hard into the series' fourth episode, Fox's "Mental" will be airing its fourth episode this week, featuring "an 8-year-old bipolar boy whose life is consumed by a video game he plays in his head." Oh noes!
According to the show's main character/handsome devil Chris Vance (aka Dr. Jack Gallagher), the child won't stop twitching his hands in an, erm, controllerly fashion and apparently tries killing himself due to "the game in his mind." Dr. Gallagher chooses to approach the child's problem from the most logical angle available and -- no joke -- starts playing the imaginary video game with him. Problem: Solved. To check out the episode in all its glory, tune in to Fox on June 16th. Or don't. It's really up to you, ya big chooser.

I agree it's a cheap House knock-off. I was bored mid-way through the first episode and haven't watched it since. From the sounds of it the fourth episode is a poor attempt at reaching an audience. A kid playing a video game in his mind and the doctor himself plays the game to figure out a solution? Lame! Nothing about this show is creative nor is it entertaining. Now Burn Notice that's a good show.

So.. what? Was it a role playing game then? Does the kid describe to him what he sees? Does he mimic holding a controller in his hand too or something? Are there any rules? This sounds more like an improv drama than medicine.

Am I the only one that notices Fox slowly turning into BBC America 2?

They seem to be hiring lot of British actors (American Idol, House, Lie To Me, and now Mental - I'm sure there will be more), and stealing alot of British reality shows.
Don't get me wrong... I love me a good Britcom (from the UK, and not a shitty US remake). But Fox is just slowly turning all British, all the time. It's just weird seeing so many Brits on an American network.
