In addition to the upcoming Alpha Protocol and Fallout: New Vegas, as well as the perpetually delayed/possibly dead Aliens RPG, Obsidian Entertainment is apparently working on a fourth, unannounced title. In an interview with GameBanshee, Obsidian's Feargus Urquhart said, "We have been working on another title for the last four months that we can't talk about yet."
According to the piece, the game is being developed on the company's internal engine, though Urquhart had, more or less, positive things to say about his company's experience with Unreal Engine 3. "Our engine, like Unreal, is a tool and different jobs can be done better with tools that are made for them ... there are things that our engine may never do as well as Unreal, but likewise there are things that our engine will do that will be better than Unreal," Urquhart says of the choice. Considering the rest of the interviews answers, we're fairly certainly that the game's not a new Neverwinter Nights nor Knights of the Old Republic 3. Guesses, friends?

Well they like to work on other western rpg developer's properties in some way, so I'm going with an Elder Scrolls spinoff of some kind.

Keep dreaming Foetoid, because it's never going to happen. You'll just have to buy a big boy console.

Consoles are personal preference, but in the case, the wii is kind of for kids and families and isn't considered a big boy console because it pumps out nothing but third party casual shovelware with the occasional core gamer hit, where as the two others are more reliable on giving you a great gameing experience with a few shovleware titles. This is fact: example
June 09 games for 360
9 out of 12 games on list worth playing imo

june 09 games for wii
2 out of 29 games on list worth playing imo

Ps3 list is similar to 360s.

Glad this degenerated into a fanboy console war so quickly. Me, I'd rather see another CRPG in the Planescape multiverse. 1999's Planescape: Torment is easily the best story-driven game ever in my opinion, and while anything by Obsidian likely won't be as good, it's still a fascinating setting and I'd love to see it given the Fallout 3 treatment.

@cptkrush, Obsidian is great at what they do? NWN2 was a wreck. Hideous graphics. Required loads of patches before it even began to approach what Bioware's NWN1 had at launch. It was terrible.

I'll second that. NWN2 was a trainwreck when I bought it. Game was ugly as hell and was somehow a resource hog, and it took many patches before my decent computer could even run it at a stable, playable framerate.

Will the next Fallout be made with the same engine as Fallout 3/Oblivion? Or more in the style of the classic Fallouts (non-fps)?

Really looking forward to that then. And I hope they get some more voice actors, it got a bit ridiculous hearing the same voices over and over. :-p

Anybody know if this might be Neverwinter Nights 3? With the knew MMORPG-like rules for D&D, maybe its another BioWare, Obsidian, and Atari game.

I guess they figured they didn't have enough balls in the air, and thus were in danger of releasing a finished product.

I really don't get the point of saying "We're working on something, but I can't tell you anything about it." Why not just wait until you have some details?
It reminds me of those pointless homeland security alerts.
"Something suspicious is going to happen somewhere. We don't have any details, but be on the lookout!"

Hmm... a company that has never successfully finished a product should probably concentrate on just one or two at a time. Just an idea...

They always have an excuse don't they?
I don't like Obsidian, and I never have. Anytime they get the table scraps from Bioware, I groan and think "did KOTOR or NWN really need a sequel if they sucked this bad?" Now they're after Bethesda scraps too. Even when they try their own new stuff, its just a mod to Mass Effect.

KOTOR 2 was anything but bad. I dont blame you though, i felt the same way until I really played it. But it improves on the original in almost every way. The writing, the tone, the general story, the influence system was a massive leap I was sad to see was not in Mass Effect, the characters were also much deeper, i didnt discover GO-TOs secret until after 3 playthroughs. Just give it a chance and put aside your predilections, because it's a really great game. I also have no idea where you got the idea this game would be a mod of mass effect. Also, in a manner of speaking, Bethesda is picking up Obsidian's scraps, because Obsidian is mostly made up of people from the original fallouts

While it's not NWN3, given some hints Obsidian have been dropping recently on some of the NWN2 boards, it's looking to be a spiritual successor to the NWN games with a different engine and ruleset backing it up.
As in, custom toolset, multiplayer support for small worlds, and a DM client.
My own guess based on information to hand
