Kojima says MGS: Peace Walker is his MGS5, calls Rising a 'different kind of action' game
Despite stating that he would be more hands-off with the Metal Gear Solid games after the fourth installment, Kojima has decided to once again roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Speaking with Japanese mag Famitsu (via PSPHyper), the gaming icon has said that Peace Walker will pretty much be his MGS5 -- something that will likely be excellent news to every Genome soldier reading this very post -- and that the MGS4 team will be working on it. (For some new Peace Walker screens, fresh out of Kojima Productions, check out our gallery embedded below).
Moving on to Metal Gear Solid Rising, Kojima says the game will include "a completely different kind of action than what has appeared in the series so far," though we're not sure if that's a good or bad thing. He also mentioned that he will be involved with the project "more deeply" than a normal producer which, considering the expectations and the new engine involved, makes sense.
The implicit bad news here: With all this Metal Gear stuff taking up Kojima's time (not to mention Castlevania: Lords of Shadow), we're unlikely to see that rumored Snatcher and/or Zone of the Enders and/or Something Else title anytime soon.

I guess the REAL Metal Gear experience isn't coming to the 360
WOOT
Duke @ Jun 15th 2009 1:23PM
You don't find it weird that such a thing makes you happy? What is it you gain by that?
Bowser Rogozhin: Death of a Ladies Man @ Jun 15th 2009 1:24PM
"What is it you gain by that?"
Longhorn.
atrimus @ Jun 15th 2009 1:29PM
i myself actually prefer Playstation to XBox (even though i own both systems). still, console wars amongst fanboys is pretty asinine. grow up dude.
baby sea tuna @ Jun 15th 2009 1:38PM
You do realize that it's not coming to the PS3 either, right? You have to own an additional system to play it either way.
PS. Don't be such an asshole. woot.
FraGNeM @ Jun 15th 2009 1:42PM
It makes ME happy.
I gain a highly polished action title that is (hopefully?) devoid of the wildly inconsistent narrative plaguing the "true" MGS series.
Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jun 15th 2009 1:44PM
save it for someone that cares
The fact is Kojima doesnt like the 360
Duke @ Jun 15th 2009 1:59PM
Pathetic.

yeah YOU definately should take your own advice.

Which is why he's making an MGS game for the 360....
BACK IN MAH DAY, TROLLING MEANT SOMETHING!!!!
Duke @ Jun 15th 2009 2:11PM
So me calling his response out for being pathetic gets down voted when everyone is agreeing in one way or another. That's bizarre.
NaeemTHM @ Jun 15th 2009 2:13PM
Wow console allegiance has got to be the most pathetic thing I've ever come across on the internet.
...and I've been to 4chan so that's saying something.
Longhorn your life must be really sad if you actually take pleasure seeing the 360 miss out on games.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jun 15th 2009 2:14PM
Don't worry guys I handle this, I'm his Pimp after all
Is neither coming to the PS3,read it says PSP a lot of x360 owners have a PSP you dummkopf.
Another asinine attempt of create a fanboy war longhorn? How many times do we have to b*tch slap to make you understand that system wars ended back in 2006 it seems only some Sony fanboys still continue not even Wii60 fans care anymore and if you ever encounter them they will make you rage because you are simply no match to them really. We don’t like to answer you because we are all beyond that point; there are plenty of people with all 3 consoles now.
(Personally I prefer the X360 but I need to spend more time with my PS3 Now I’ currently playing No More Heroes in the wii and trying to get all the stars in SMG).
Mr Khan @ Jun 15th 2009 2:17PM
remember: the voting is always controlled by those most interested in the article. In this case: metal gear fans, who happen to fall almost universally into the Sony camp, and will down-vote anyone who is trying to downplay the "victory" that Longhorn has declared up there
The psychology of the voting is not hard to figure out, usually.
Kaio @ Jun 15th 2009 2:21PM
LMAO at the 360 fanboy police. Better not say anything they dont like or you 10 of them QQing in response
Alistair Azimuth PSN: johnnynumber5 @ Jun 15th 2009 2:21PM
Duke
I'm pretty sure you got voted down for being just as big of a douche in your response. You just lowered yourself instead of taking the high road. No need to be a prick because you don't agree with his opinion. In fact, what you said was more hateful and abrasive than any of his comments. I would even go as far to say that you were trolling.
Vegeta
You can't apply logic to an illogical conversation. Besides, I would argue that a spin off action game starring Raiden isn't a MGS game. The next MGS game is going to be on the PSP as the article states which is made by the team that did MGS 4. Thats just the way it is. MG Rising takes place within the universe but thats where the similarities end.
@Everyone Else
Whether you agree with the way Marius said it or not it's fairly obvious Kojima prefers the Playstation brand to express his vision. It's as obvious as saying Gabe Newell prefers the X-Box platform.
Jason Statham (Aka Vegeta) @ Jun 15th 2009 2:23PM
"So me calling his response out for being pathetic gets down voted when everyone is agreeing in one way or another. That's bizarre."
If this was any other thread you'd be in the right. However this is a thread about MGS, so it will be overrun by fanboys who sadly think like Elijah and get all pissy if you dare say anything other than praising Kojima or calling MGS the greatest game of all time.
ITT: We learn that fanboys are pathetic.
CannabisPrime @ Jun 15th 2009 2:26PM
"I guess the REAL Metal Gear experience isn't coming to the 360"
And I for one could not be happier. The "REAL Metal Gear experience" is just watching cutscene after cutscene.... I prefer to play my games, not watch them.
Jason Statham (Aka Vegeta) @ Jun 15th 2009 2:27PM
"The next MGS game is going to be on the PSP as the article states which is made by the team that did MGS 4. Thats just the way it is. MG Rising takes place within the universe but thats where the similarities end."
Does it have characters found in other MGS games? Yes. Does it take place in the MGS universe? Yes. Does it have Metal Gear Solid in it's title? Yes
Therefore it's an MGS game.
Duke @ Jun 15th 2009 2:28PM
Johnny, that is the kind of response I would expect from you. You often go the route of calling me names, or distorting the situation regarding my comments, so don't expect agreement from me. I started off the post not saying anything nasty, and he responded like a tool, and all I did was respond with one word. Not exactly prick or hateful talk in my book.
Roto13 @ Jun 15th 2009 2:31PM
"remember: the voting is always controlled by those most interested in the article. In this case: metal gear fans, who happen to fall almost universally into the Sony camp, and will down-vote anyone who is trying to downplay the "victory" that Longhorn has declared up there"
Apparently so. Fucktards.
NaeemTHM @ Jun 15th 2009 2:32PM
It's true Johnny, Duke is one of the more balanced posters here in my eyes. Nothing he said came off "douchey".
Being happy about your console of choice getting an exclusive is one thing, but if you actually get excited when another console misses out on a big game, then you are pathetic.
Duke @ Jun 15th 2009 2:34PM
NaeemTHM, thanks, that's all I was getting at.
Vidikron @ Jun 15th 2009 2:35PM
I just went through and clicked the minus on the OP and every reply just for the hell of it.

“Whether you agree with the way Marius said it or not it's fairly obvious Kojima prefers the Playstation brand to express his vision. It's as obvious as saying Gabe Newell prefers the X-Box platform”.
GAAAHHHHH Okay I'm going to start shooting you people now.
Gabe Newell doesn't prefers the xbox Valve is all about Pc games, if they ported their games for mere pity to the xbox is because it was easier than porting to system they don’t know and they have some experience with the system. When the hell Valve released exclusive game on the xbox 360? If you Say Portal Still Alive I’m going to shot you twice.
About Kojima the man knows where his products sells and if his doing another multiplatform title now is too see if there is really more interest now in his games than in the past (See MGS2 on xbox). If Rising manages to sell a crapton of units on every system and makes MGS4 sales look weak by comparison you can kiss goodbye to Sony exclusivity unless they pay Kojima an absurd amount of money to keep Kojima productions on their side.

2 words: sprinkles & cody.
eNrique @ Jun 15th 2009 3:40PM
Well, you are certainly right Marius,
The Metal Gear Solid Series are still exclusive to the PlayStation platform.
If Kojima really wanted to bring the MGS franchise to the 360, he would had made Peace Walker, the TRUE next step in the MGS series, a PS3/360 game, but instead he chose to make it PlayStation exclusive(for PSP).
And I don't really think Rising is a MGS game, even that it borrowed the universe, characters, etc. etc. from MGS it doesn't truly mean that it is a MGS game (you could take MegaMan soccer, pokemon snap!, FF:CC, Mario Tennis, Golf, among other spin offs as examples).
So yes, Kojima is stil a Sony fanboy.
lolbobsaget @ Jun 15th 2009 4:11PM
Downvoting ppl increases my e-peen size right guyz!?
don't be jealous that 360 now gets the MGS love too lolz
It's much better that 360 gets a fresh new mgs title rather than a port of moviegearsolid4
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 15th 2009 4:44PM
Kojima sounds like he's just releasing rising on 360 and PS3 to keep Konami happy. He's not in it to make it the 'true' mgs experience and its quite clear that he cares little for Rising. Sounds to me like a spin off created simply to give 360 owners an MGS experience of some sort, even if it doen't feature Snake as the main character.
I suppose it's also a chance to build up Raiden's character, but Kojima's concern was on Snake, not so much Raiden, it seems that to him, Raiden was supposed to just be an extra, but now that Snake has exited with style, the only thing to do to keep MGS alive is to spin it off with Raiden.
In Kojima's head, MGS is finished, with Peacewalker to simply explain a few of the missing details in between, to Konami however, MGS is only finished when it stops making cash, Kojima has stated he wants to do something new, I guess Konami have forced him to continue with it and you can tell his heart isn't in it.
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 15th 2009 4:53PM
@ TheLionOfAzzalle
You have a valid point, there should be more fanboys in the world, it would make it a better place where we could all waste our lives away arguing about which plastic electronic equipment has better content instead of using that time to simply enjoy the games we play.
If only I had the same mentality as you.
Duke @ Jun 15th 2009 5:01PM
Sprinkles talking smack about me, oh the burn. How shall I ever continue in this world....
Duke @ Jun 15th 2009 5:08PM
Oh, I forgot to add, I see you say the same things over and over when they have no true application. An example would be "hypocritical" - I don't think you know what that means. Point to this hypocrisy.
Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jun 15th 2009 5:18PM
@Duke
STFU you act like you are all neutral and not a fanboy even though you defend your 360 every chance you get, instead of asking me stupid question you should ask yourself why does my fanboyism bother you, are you not happy that I insulted your 360, then why bother commenting, same goes to all the other 360 fanboys that posted.
Leroy_Octopus @ Jun 15th 2009 5:32PM
Longhorn you are a douche. Being happy that someone else isn't getting something is just pathetic. Think about it this way. It's okay to be happy that you have money, but being happy that someone else doesn't have money is selfish. Granted, that analogy is extreme, but so is your stance on the situation. You still haven't stated how it benifits you in any conceivible way. Of course it's normal to feel good that your console is getting an exclusive as it validates your purpose, but why do you feel good about others being deprived of something?
Ejab @ Jun 15th 2009 5:37PM
Now that Kojijma is not making it It could actually be good.
Duke @ Jun 15th 2009 5:39PM
Brainiac, I defend both my 360 and my PS3 when they deserve it. Having a hissy fit like you just did doesn't make for proving facts. Keep hugging your only console of choice as if it loves you back.
Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jun 15th 2009 5:46PM
lol you clearly dont understand
Hook, Line, and Sinker!!!
K1LLER HORNET @ Jun 15th 2009 5:47PM
lets see what he can do with the 1.8GB limitation on the PSP - now he may have to swallow his pride & use what he fears most - COMPRESSION!
ahhhhhhh!!! is there anything worse!!! :P XD :D
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 15th 2009 6:01PM
@ K1LLER HORNET
Alternativly he could just keep it DD and therefore have more space
You'll be suprised what can be squeezed into PSP, if it can hold several hours of MGS:PO, God of War, and even FFCC, then MGS:PW won't be impossible, it won't be long, but it's on PSP, who cares?
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 15th 2009 6:06PM
Besides, this is the same little handheld that can power up a full GTA experience, hold 800 GT cars, and play Monster Hunter, a game I've had for ages and have yet to complete before I can get Freedom Unite.
Don't underestimate PSP.
Bigg Bozz @ Jun 15th 2009 6:58PM
Jason Statham (Aka Vegeta) - "Does it have characters found in other MGS games? Yes. Does it take place in the MGS universe? Yes. Does it have Metal Gear Solid in it's title? Yes
Therefore it's an MGS game."
Is the creator and director Kojima involved in development? No. Is it Tactical Espionage Action? No will include "a completely different kind of action than what has appeared in the series"(Kojima). Will it use the same engine? No.
Therefore it's not an MGS game.
BananaBoat @ Jun 15th 2009 7:15PM
The real MGS5 experience is coming to the PSP. This is a loss for gamers everywhere in my opinion. I'd much rather have it on the PS3 or 360 than the PSP. Then again, I've been bitching about the PSP's lack of games for years, and this looks like it could finally redeem the little handheld that could(n't).
As for being happy that the PSP gets the real MGS5 and not the 360...it doesn't get much more petty than that.
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 15th 2009 7:34PM
I think it should be on PSP, PSP needs more titles with importance, spin offs and ports don't do it justice, its unique games and proper sequels that make it all the more worthwhile. Spinoffs and ports don't count, if anything, they suck.
WWII @ Jun 22nd 2009 2:07PM
Kojima will never make a real MGS game for the Xbox... So be happy with Rising cuz that's the closest thing you'll ever have to a MGS game ever.
If you want MGS so much then buy a PS3 and problem solved. Now could we stop the riot of MGS on xbox? Don't expect to have every game on your box.
Draco @ Jun 15th 2009 1:21PM
not suprising. at E3 he made comments to this affect. He said at the Sony show that the PSP version was the next big MGS, where at Microsofts he said there was a MGS game coming out.
