Wow this has to be one of the worst weeks in the last couple years for new games. Summer slowdown confirmed.

Yeah when the week is highlighted by ghostbusters, an average rental AT BEST...then we've entered the summer slowdown period.

At least that Fallout dlc is coming next week and Fat Princess should be coming soon too.

I'm greatly looking forward to Ghostbusters. The memories from my childhood will be worth the $60 alone.

I'm also hoping Fat Princess comes out this week. It's going to be either this week or next.

An average rental at best? Um, ok. It's actually a major release that's getting very favorable reviews. Not everything can have the "pomp and circumstance" of Gears of War 2. lol

"It's actually a major release"

Someone doesn't know the difference between a major AAA game and a regular game.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm pretty pumped about Ghostbusters. Last I checked Ghostbusters was at an 80 average on metacritic which is far above rental at best in my book. It just looks like so much damn fun and I'm sure it will be humorous to boot. Not every game has to be GOTY contender to merit a purchase. It seems like a quality product in my book and one I'm considering purchasing.

I don't know about a Summer drought either with what has already been released (Infamous, Prototype, Red Faction Guerilla, Rock Band Unplugged, UFC Undisputed, Tiger Woods, Cross Edge, Bionic Commando, Sacred 2, Punch-Out etc etc) and whats around the bend (Ghost Busters, Overlord 2, Fight Night, Conduit, RE:Archives, Monster Hunter Unite, Blaz Blue, Call Of Juarez, King of Fighters XIII) there is lots of variety and quality stuff all around. Now, whether or not they appeal to you is another story but it's far from how Summer used to be with very little being released period.

Oh ... I was in the Fat Princess Beta and the game is amazing. Similar art style to Alien Homonid and Castle Crashers with a fernetic class based multiplayer aspect and it's non stop fun with great laughs and visuals to boot. Loved the game. It will be a day 1 for me without a doubt.

On that note those titles I listed largely ignores hand held titles (Knights of the nightmare FTW) and completely ignores Arcade & PSN games as well.

Just the release of UFC Undisputed and Infamous have made it the best Summer I can remember in forever. Throw in a dash of the underappreciated Red Faction Guerilla and you have a winner.

"Someone doesn't know the difference between a major AAA game and a regular game."

Please elaborate. The game looks pretty major to me. Is it because it is based on an existing IP? The game has AAA written all over it. It doesn't get much more AAA and major than Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd.

Yeah none of those are purchase worthy to me. I see some good rentals on there, like Prototype and Red Faction but nothing I'd spend $60 on without feeling bad. Even with Infamous, I wish I only rented it because it was just an ok game, nothing really noteworthy or memorable.

At least around this time last year I was playing MGS 4 :\

And then, heaven and earth did bend, and the unworthy games disappeared from the face of the earth, so that the proclamation of "nothing to play" did come to pass. And all were amazed at his wisdom and power

I know I'm a lot more known here than other people, but I still get a kick when people say I'm being stuck up or that I'm pushing my opinions onto people when all I say is "meh, nothing good this week", specially when other people say the same thing and no one says anything about it.

What a load of shit. Red Faction is by far my favorite title of 2009 and Ghost Busters looks superb. With co-op, multiplayer and the original cast and script writer it can do no wrong.

MGS4 was nothing but a glorified cutscene, don't be such a troll.

I've been playing ghostbusters wii , and it's fun so far. I was shocked to find it is only 2 player co-op instead of 4. I know the wii can handle 4 player, that's ridiculous.

Ok.. so seriously... Is Ghostbusters on the Wii pretty good? I mean is it worth the $50? I like the local co-op option that is "exclusive" to the Wii... but I was on the fence about the game in general.

Toys R Us has a pretty decent deal on it, so I was thinking about taking advantage of that if it's pretty good... like good enough as in Marvel Ultimate Alliance (Wii version) good enough.

well the co-op is definitely fun (local). it doesn't have online that I know of .

The game is probably best to rent. I don't think the storyline mode would be longer than 8-10 hours. I'm not sure there's much replay value after beating it.

He was talking about it for that particular game. Not the Wii in general. Either that or you need to go and tell games like MoH: Heroes 2 that it doesn't exist. Douche.

(((Chuckles about TBA in "Arrested Development")))

On the plus side, I can now put FF7 on my PSP. I could have legally done that before since I own a copy of FF7, but now I can do it without risking homebrew on my PSP, woo!

risking homebrew? the CFWfication process is actually damn near impossible to mess up. the pandora battery doubles as an un-bricker, so if you actually manage to mess up, you can fix it instantly.

Point well taken Sniper, but I'd rather just stay out of it. Maybe it becomes a decision of "don't want to hassle with it" rather then any real risk.

What do you play on PSN?

Yes, and the game will automatically produce bass, drum, and vocals tracks for all of those imported songs. Right?

hmmm.. cant you import songs from RB1 to RB2 for a small fee? (i only have the first but read about that)

singstar only supports mic and imports just fine. (disc swap, even with PS2)

whats wrong with them creating a patch and letting us import what we already bought? oh right, they could not charge us twice that way....

I think they should just release musical instrument unlimited, and it be a blank disc and they charge us 59.99 and we get a new sound track once a month. thats what it will be soon anyways.

I want to play the old songs in the new engine. GH 1, 2, and Rock the 80s had buggy hammer-on mechanics. The songs have new note charts, are all master tracks unlike their predecessors, and have the other instruments included. The amount of development and testing (not to mention re-aquiring the rights and master tracks) it took to retool all of those songs would have likely been const-prohibitive compared to releasing another boxed title. Making retail versions of this track pack also allows them to hit the largest possible install base. Not everyone downloads DLC via live, they think its evil magic! Say what you want about their strategy, but it has been working.

They really should have thought about including the BR versions of the movies along with a Special Edition of the game (a la Stranglehold.) That probably would have clinched a sale for me.

Ghostbusters just got downgraded from a "probably" to a "maybe" after I bought the Broken Steel expansion for Fallout last night and realized just how many locations I missed out on exploring before I (SPOILER ALERT) activated the Purifier. Even without the other expansions, I can probably wring another 12 hours out of that game. Which is good, since that may have just saved me $60.

I'm looking at Ghostbusters. It will cost me 60 for either my 360/PS3, but it's a game that I'm not sure I want to spend that kind of money on. Then I see PS2 for 20...does anyone know if its similar enough to the next-gen versions to save 40 bucks? I don't mind a graphical drop for games like these, and my PS2 Phat works just fine.
