I'm staying indoors the day this comes out. Florida's going to go nuts if the people catch wind of this.

Tim @ Jun 15th 2009 12:53PM
I swear, most of today's country feels rather too Hollywood for my taste.
So far, the only saving grace of this one is...
The Gambler by Kenny Rogers
Dirty @ Jun 15th 2009 1:00PM
Well grab your banjo and make out with your sister, we's about to have a grand ol time on the ol xbox tonight.
BxGT @ Jun 15th 2009 1:02PM
Do they mean kenny rogers from the mockup jackass?
ryanpaulmcgowan @ Jun 15th 2009 3:24PM
They mean Kenny Rogers, the real person who sings country.
Out of all of the songs listed, only one is something I'd allow myself to play.
b trumpet @ Jun 15th 2009 1:13PM
Where is Garth Brooks?
TheDave @ Jun 15th 2009 1:17PM
Screw You Harmonix.... really...
Making people pay for the same thing twice just to get a few extra's.
Why not just sell this franchise to Activision too?
I already bought the country DLC track packs, why should I have to pay for them again?
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Jun 15th 2009 1:19PM
They will probably be out as DLC as well. Don't moan before you get the details. It's the same with RB: Unplugged - Harmonix already promised that the new songs will be added to the main game soon.
Ryan @ Jun 15th 2009 1:20PM
Reading is your friend.
From the press release:
"Thirteen of the on disc tracks are brand new to the Rock Band platform and will be exclusive to the Rock Band Country Track Pack disc for a limited time before joining the Rock Band® Music Store as downloadable content."
XBL: Burritoclock PSN:Herbie Hat @ Jun 15th 2009 1:22PM
You don't have to... unless you are currently being held hostage in which case:
GET OFF THE INTERNET AND CALL THE POLICE!!!!
TheDave @ Jun 15th 2009 1:34PM
@Ryan:
"From the press release" Let's see that link is where exactly in this article?
Oh yeah, no where...
Want to post one?
And the rest of the exclusive tracks will be in the music store when?
Why not that same day?
Why should we have to wait if we already bought the other country packs and don't want to pay for the same thing twice?
So Basically, Harmonix is screwing over the people who already bought some of the DLC tracks, and is forcing them to wait for these new songs if they don't want to double pay for some of them...
Sounds like a pretty greedy move to me...
Chad Vanderbilt (Moptimus in Disguise) @ Jun 15th 2009 1:41PM
Hey Dave, I got an idea here
It may sound a bit wacko but I just want you to follow me on this: If it means that much to you, DON'T. BUY. THE. SAME. THING. TWICE. ಠ_ಠ
that way you can save your lioncash >:3
problem solved
oolz @ Jun 15th 2009 1:42PM
TheDave: Stop making excuses for acting like an fool.
aristokrat @ Jun 15th 2009 2:01PM
Or, you could look on the bright side: this thing's gonna be on eBay and passed around more times than...meh, my funny is broken this morning. Basically, Harmonix provided an easy way to get most of these songs basically for free.

VaultICEE @ Jun 15th 2009 2:57PM
Wow. Really, Dave? How are they "screwing you over" if YOU, YOURSELF, have an option to buy it or not?
Wow.
And also, you need to think of the pricing of this.
13 songs in the Rock Band store = $26
Rock Band: Country Track Pack = $29.99
So, if you want those 13 songs early, you pay an extra of four bucks.
And please, PLEASE, don't make another post about how they're ripping you out of 4 DOLLARS.
baby sea tuna @ Jun 15th 2009 1:18PM
Oh, *radio* country. I got excited for a second there.
Benjamin Heckendorn @ Jun 15th 2009 1:26PM
It's good to see them supporting the flyover states!
Country is not my cup of tea, but a lot of people really like it. The first company to make a complete AAA title based off Shania Twain, Garth Brooks or the Dixie Chicks will probably make enough money to pay off the national debt.
Nick @ Jun 15th 2009 1:22PM
Country sucked before the 21st century (with a few notable exceptions) but it was nowhere near as terrible as it is today. The Country genre is now really bad pop music with a twang.
unfriendly_cat @ Jun 15th 2009 2:16PM
True, the mainstream Nashville stuff sucks, and has sucked for a long time. However, there is a LOT of really really good country music around these days. Not much of a country fan myself, but this is a short list of artists/bands (current or recent) that I like:
Robbie Fulks
Wayne Hancock
Hank III
Joe Ely
John Hiatt
Shaver
Steve Earle
Kelly Willis
Neko Case
Iris DeMent
Jason & the Scorchers
Supersuckers
Junior Brown
BR5-49
Ravnos @ Jun 15th 2009 3:17PM
@unfriendly_cat: Good list. I'd also add Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies to that list. Country's the same as every other music genre these days, all the stuff on the radio is fucking garbage. If you want the good stuff, you have to go looking for it.
unfriendly_cat @ Jun 15th 2009 4:24PM
Agreed; I certainly missed a few. Bob Wayne, Dale Watson; also on the bluegrass side (which I'm not that familiar with) Del McCoury, Bad Livers, The Meat Purveyors..
Ian @ Jun 15th 2009 1:24PM
Country music as a genre has the strongest CD sales (pop, rock, and hip-hop have stronger download sales) so maybe that's why they're going for a physical form of media for this?
uncle jesse @ Jun 15th 2009 1:40PM
I'm down!

John Stout @ Jun 15th 2009 1:51PM
Banjo Hero!
wrc3 @ Jun 15th 2009 1:56PM
Hello? The game is called ROCK BAND, not COUNTRY BAND.
MrSpaceCowboy @ Jun 15th 2009 9:58PM
I would've voted you up if you called it Jug Band instead of Country Band.
Jug Bands are awesome.
GewurztraminerX @ Jun 15th 2009 2:30PM
They need to dial it back with some more stuff from, say, 15 years ago. Back when I liked country music....
Michael T @ Jun 15th 2009 2:56PM
NEEDS MOAR JOHNNY CASH.
Ahem... Sorry.
Ghoti @ Jun 15th 2009 3:03PM
Oh well, guess I'll be waiting for these to come out through DLC. I have the other 8 tracks, so for me, it would be $29.99 for 13 tracks, or about $2.31 a track. When these come out as DLC, presumably, the most they would cost is $2.00 a track.
I can wait... :-)
B3astofthe3ast @ Jun 15th 2009 3:33PM
Sin Wagon is such a fun song! They should call it Win Wagon!
inferatum @ Jun 15th 2009 5:57PM
Cross Canadian Ragweed and it IS NOT Lighthouse Keeper? Freaking lame...
gib @ Jun 15th 2009 10:00PM
Keith Urban? Aww, crap! That means my wife will want to play RB with me!
Benjamin Breeg @ Jun 16th 2009 12:14PM
God, what a waste of time spent making all of those charts. Everyone knows Country music fans don't have electricity, let alone rock band.
Bring on some more Dream Theater or some Queensryche or Led Zeppelin.
Psycoe @ Jun 16th 2009 3:23AM
Why would anyone put this rubbish on rock band. Hence the name, "rock band", it's not "country band" or "redneck showdown". We wants ROCK, give us Chevelle, 10 Years, and Metallica!
lakingscrzy @ Jun 16th 2009 8:06AM
1. Rock Band is a game of rock
2. Rock Band is a huge party game
3. Rock Band is releasing country songs
4. Garth Brooks' "friends in low places" meets all of above criteria
And is also the highest selling artist in US history, so, where is he?
slainbaby @ Jun 17th 2009 1:43AM
Where's MY music, all the music you likes sucks. Rock Band sucks, Harmonix sucks, they only try and make everyone else happy, what about ME, it's all about the music I like, it's the best in the whole world!
riddle.of.epicurus @ Jun 18th 2009 2:28AM
I have no problem with a country pack, but I do wish it had more REAL country, not the awful-overproduced-pop-with-southern-accents that has been called country for the past twenty or so years. No Cash (or Merle, Hank, Hank Jr., Marty Robbins, Tammy Wynnette, Loretta Lynne, etc etc) no sale. Hell, of the two real country artists they DID include, they didn't even pick especially good songs. The Gambler over Coward of the County? Come on.
Hear me roar @ Jul 20th 2009 2:36AM
I'm kind of shocked at how many female-empowerment songs made this list.
