congratulations on terrible, awful taste in music. can you like something without a major media conglomerate telling you it's cool?

@drumwiz86:
congratulations on your self-important, "non-conformist" taste in music. can you like something without the guy behind the counter at hot topic telling you it's cool?

Congratulations, assholes, on being assholes. I do sincerely think both of those bands blow chunks, but why do you folks see fit to cut a person down over their tastes? If they like it, they like it. That's that. You can't really convince them otherwise. Some people scour for new and obscure things, and some people are content with what's radio friendly and popular. As long as MY favorite bands are still around, I don't give a fuck.

A7X I admit I like. Shinedown I like 1-2 songs and I was excited to see the one song I like be on Rock Band. But that's not all I like. Theres stuff in the same genre I HATE and then theres stuff in other genres I like. I'm not into the whole rap/hip-hop scene and though I put up with it I don't care if other people like or like what I like. So dark_inchworm I'll repeat what you said and say i dont care what u like, as long as what I like is still out there, then i'm happy

@T

You're obviously clueless, hot topic is the problem. Hot topic is what tells people like the OP what to like. They're part of the major media conglomerate (owned by the same company that owns old navy, the gap). When people start realizing that just because something is on TV or Radio or The internet or other media sources doesn't make it cool, the world will be a much better place full of people capable of independent and critical thought.

@ dark_inchworm

Firstoff, no body needs all your gamertags in one username. Second, I don't really care if he takes my opinions of his tastes into consideration. I'm not here to convince people of anything. That would be stupid. I'm here to run my mouth and share what I think, if you don't like it, then you don't like it. I can live with that.

ok 1st off I'm never shopped at Hot Topic and 2nd I dont listen to the media A7X and Shinedown are never in the media. Its music theres something for everyone get over it.

@drumwiz86

I agree once people realize that just because something is in the media it doesnt make it cool. The world would be better off with people finding stuff they like instead of listening to all the media sources out there

How in the world would you play that?

I'd much prefer some of Montreal or Decemberists. Andrew Bird would be nice too.

I second the of Montreal statement. Although, most of their newer stuff would be nigh impossible to play as well. Can I throw Wilco into the mix? Specifically "Impossible Germany." That would be epic.

You could easily put certain sounds to the guitar, bass, or drums.
It's not hard actually

I second the Decemberists. Specifically "Sixteen Military Wives", that song is all kinds of awesome. And I agree with Wilco. "Impossible Germany" would be epic indeed.

I know I'm totally late at this.

I know SantaDuJuan, it's just it would be a very odd thing to play Animal Collective songs, since they are very heavily electronic based (especially newer stuff). It'd be like playing anything from Radiohead's Kid A....just weird, even if the instruments are there.

So there was this State Farm sponsored booth at Bonnaroo that served two purposes: a) teaching people the way of the DJ, and b) internet access. I went in there exclusively for B once or twice a day. On the leftmost laptop, Joystiq was in the browser's history before I had even touched it.

I smiled.
