Grasshopper Manufacture has been quietly working on a PS3 game whilst working on their No More Heroes games on Wii. The mysterious PS3 game will be published by Marvelous Entertainment, but the ambitious nature of the project may compromise the small company's financial stability. "If we do that [game] we might go bankrupt," Yasuhiro Wada, president of Marvelous Entertainment, joked to Siliconera. "We are making it, but if we make everything then it's a little too risky."
Suda51's studio is known for creating hyper-violent and stylized games that tackle controversial and difficult subjects. In addition to No More Heroes, the studio has made killer7 (pictured) and Flower, Sun and Rain.

I'm really interested in what this is. I love No More Heroes, but I kind of hope this is more like Killer 7. Though I don't think Marvelous would be willing to take any huge risks with a game like that, so probably not. :/

What about the Pub Fund?

Then don't do it. Even SONY has trouble moving respectable numbers for their internal AAA games. Combine that with the sales history of Goichi Suda's games and the writing is on the wall. There is certainly room for games like Suda makes, and he certainly has his fair share of fans, me included, but one has to be able to know ones limits. I say dish out your unique games through low risk projects, doing a PS3 title when ones last Wii title barely broke 100k is not a good idea, not at all.

For their own good they shouldn't do it. Games of this type (Read amazing Japanese developed games eg, games that don't have Gaylo in their title) have a sad history of selling abysmally on the PS3 (or anything else) for some odd reason. And PS3 titles cost a lot to fund, it goes without saying that before attempting something of this magnitude Suda should attempt to have a few low risk million sellers under his belt, you know, to build confidence, for No more Heroes sales sure didn't light the charts on fire.
I'd hate to see another risk taking publisher get their nose bloodied for doing what the big established ones should be doing because they can afford the risk.

Its a really difficult call when any Wii game without the words "developed by nintendo', 'sports', or 'mini-games' hardly break 100k.

MMV, pass. This is too big for your wallet.
Let Luminous Arc, Tokyo Majin, Valhalla Knights, etc., grow. The DS is a safer investment.

Killer 7 was mad. I never finished it personally but the hours I did spend playing it on gamecube left a strange (good) impression on me. I would love something similar for the PS3!
