I loved lost planet. I just wished the achievements weren't so damn hard and the game had better multiplayer.
Now with co-op, improved gameplay, and possible multiplayer tweaks this game is looking to be at least a rental for me, if not a buy once it drops a bit in price ($40).

Good work on reusing old enemies Capcom:

Just change the body colour and get rid of those feeler things and bam, same enemy from that screenshot.

Do you do anything other than complain? You're about as stale as can be.

The original Lost Planet was exceptional. Thats saying a lot because it was released around the time I was knee deep in the original Gears Of War. The multiplayer kind of sucked but the campaign was pure win. Still one of my favorite 360 games. I never played the PS3 version but I heard it had Mega Man. Never played LP COlonis for that matter but I'm sure it wasn't all that different. Just remembered I had the limited edition in the sweet metal tin as well o_O

How many games really have mandatory co op? The only one i can really think of is Left 4 Dead, which isn't even mandatory, just necessary if you want to have fun playing it.
It's not exactly like there is a dearth of singleplayer games right now. Also they didn't even say this has to be played in co op, it could very easily be played alone too for all you know.

It's good to have a full suite of options. Ideally, a game should have robust single, competitive and cooperative games modes.

Yeah, sorry Levi. You seem like a great guy... but I'm shocked at this comment.
co-op infinitely increases the value of games for my and my friends. We don't like playing against each other... we like working together. So when we want to have fun in MP, we always group together and have a blast. But when we don't feel like dealing with asshats... we go co-op.
I can't think of any game that was worse for having co-op. Like others said, choices choices choices... that's a win for everyone.

by mandatory, I mean playing with other people or having a computer controlled teammate that is supposed to act like a player. It's one thing when they can die, but another when you lose the mission if they die. I don't mind dudes running around me in games helping me out if they can die, but it bothered me BIGTIME in RE5, and I certainly didn't have any more fun playing with another human. It didn't bother me in HL2:Ep.1&2, probably because what's her face had a zillion hit points.
My thing about co-op is that I never found it any more fun than single player. My friend was Halo crazy, so we used to play co-op, and he was totally into it - but I never found it any more fun than playing the game by myself. If the co-op experience offers something different than the single player experience, then cool, but not this generation. Usually, it's either a single player experience with other people thrown in to the mix, or a multiplayer experience with annoying AI for when you don't have a friend available to play with you.
I know it's an unpopular view, but I just don't get the co-op craze.

I agree Levi,
I'm fine with co-op but I hate it when the game suffers in single player mode. Like you said it sucks playing single player with computer controlled co-op like having bad co-op A.I. or stupid 'game ends if co-op player dies rules' or even game is too difficult to play by yourself meaning you 'must' have a another human to win.
Some cases where playing an 'intended' m-player game as a single player:
1) When no ones on line where you are on the campaign.
2) You want to play a quick game in the middle of the night but cant find anyone (similar to #1)
3) You brought a used copy a year after the release and no one is online to play with.

Oh no, it's the ice again... The one thing I disliked in LP1 was that you couldn't stop to enjoy the scenery or carefully explore the map because then you would die of coldness. It's not compliant with my style of careful guerrilla warfare :)

Will this be local 4 player co-op, or over Xbox Live 4 player co-op?
