Look, there`s a soldier with glasses on. Nerds everywhere, now you have no reason to not join the army.

Why do 2/3 of them wear glasses?
What are the statistics on soldiers wearing glasses?

I'm sure a lot soldiers have to get glasses after their physical in order to proceed with their service.

I've seen a lot of pictures of soldiers wearing either glasses or goggles.

It makes sense to protect your eye from debris, small fragments, and dust.

Anyone else thing that this is just a way for the good ol US of A to recruit people into the military?

I mean, think about it. Its our tax dollars, and since it's F2P, it is accessible for even the poorest families, as long as hey have internet. Considering America has blatantly said that they focus recruitment on lower class people, It should be obvious.

Kids see this and they think "Oh, Cool! I can shoot terrorists and bad guys!" when really, it portrays real life soldiers as "respawnable" and embeds a small amount of paranoia into us, as we think that there are terrorists and bad guys everywhere.

Plus, the other americas army games were over run by little kids and I'm sure this one is to.

I'm not a big fan of the gameplay in AA either.

They make no secret that this is a recruitment tool. There are even arcade versions in recruitment centers now.

That's the whole purpose of the AA games. They've never tried to hide that fact.

I've heard this argument before, and I'm not buying it. It's like saying Gmail is a form of recruitment for Google. While some people's interest in the designer may be piqued thanks to their product, calling it "just a way for the good ol US of A to recruit people into the military" is a bit of an overstatement.

Reagan: Although you haven't uncovered any "super secret mystery," there are still valid points in your post, so I hear you, bro. I don't like the targeting of this game, never have. It's brilliant, actually. in a 'Don King' sort of way, I mean.

Have you even every played AA? ever? you don't respawn.. you are dead until the round is over. As well there are actually informational areas to the game..

Any game that can teach a kid enough first aid to save someone's life has got my backing.

Here's another link for the same story: http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2008/01/americas-army-t/

Also this game was created to be a recruitment tool. It was/is its main development purpose.

I just hope they don't start making console versions and give them away. that is where I draw the line on recruitment. when a parents sees "Free Game!" and gives it to their kids

I want to see a tax-payer developed FPS in Canada called Canadian Army. The game would consist of rowing a canoe to stop children from crossing the drop off line of a lake in a national park, and every soldier would be equipped with a pea-shooter.

Didn't they call that Halo 2? I distinctly remember crossing a river or a lake and a very underpowered pistol. Eh, ODST will be better!

Just wanted to inform some that asked, those glasses are not necessarily the same glasses that civilians wear. Most military personnel that are in a combat environment wear ballistic glasses, the person in the front in the picture above is wearing them, the second one in is probably wearing ballistic prescription glasses.

The comments here are ignorant. Bunch of ignorant kids mouthing off while real life soldiers are deployed in the most dangerous area in the world - some who want to be there and others who don't.

Yeah AA is OBVIOUSLY a recruitment tool, there's no denying that. There's also nothing wrong with joining the armed forces. Some of you little shits could probably benefit from it.
