Yet I still find myself enjoying the song...the stupid "warning" text was very annoying though.

This explains the drastic departure from the original plot of the first game, which was perfectly setup for a unique sequel. Now it makes more sense why the developer ditched the original story in exchange for gaming's current "hot plot."

Sucky game that only did well cause it was bundled with Halo 3 beta. They should have green lighted a Viking sequel before this game and Viking sucked bad too.

And inFamous only sold because of the Uncharted beta, right?

No, Infamous sold well cause its a good game. Crackdown just sucked. Thats why they almost didnt make a sequel. Even with a Halo 3 beta attached to it a sequel was questionable and barely got the green light. That says a lot.

I agree with others here, I think putting the 'dick move' title on Microsoft may be a little harsh.
I had heard differently several months ago, about how RTW didn't want to play ball right away so they deferred the title to someone else.
(http://xbox.joystiq.com/2008/02/08/microsoft-crackdown-2-still-a-possibility/) - (the wording there made it sound (to me) like RTW didn't want to fully commit to the sequel, or was too busy working on their own thing to give Crackdown 2 the attention Microsoft felt it deserved)

In any case, it would seem to me like we're not getting the whole story, and it wouldn't surprise me if both companies played their part in making the sequel go to the other dev.
Either way, I agree that it isn't that bad, since the team doing it now is largely the same as the original team, and the project lead of the first is with Ruffian. And now we get APB too.

Sorry for the hurt feelings (or miscommunication or whatever), it sounds like a Win-Win to me.

I really enjoyed Crackdown. It's a shame my "friend" stole it... I'll definitely have to check this out and see if it's going to be a game to I actually want to buy... I don't want a repeat of CoD3... I really should go rebuy Crackdown. It was so much fun...

Look, Microsoft isn't really known to build relationships with developers in the past. Instead they simply buy them out rather than collaborating on a project. This type of move is to be expected coming from a company with all the money.

@DrFreeman

They were all set, Microsoft wasn't. You can't just start project when you don't even know if it'll be worth it.

And thanks to that dick move on MS' part, we're unlikely to see APB released to console. Thanks, MS!

Aww don't even act like Treyarch is a real developer anymore. All they've done recently is disgrace the Call of Duty name and muddy its reputation for quality titles.
