Pre-order Madden 10 at GameStop ... to get free Madden 10 demo

We're not exactly sure how a free demo is meant to appease those that are already committed to buying the game, but at the very least, it's a far more compelling offer than, say, a free sample of Madden's short-lived recording career.

DEATH TO GAMESTOP!!!! NO SERIOUSLY IM TIRED OF THIS BULLSHIT!
SecretAgentHam @ Jun 17th 2009 12:52PM
they could be giving away nothing. at least its something for those who were already going to pre order, however this isnt good enough for me. TRU or BBY will have some kind of promotion with a gift card or accessory most likely on its release day. so its meh...
T @ Jun 17th 2009 1:28PM
How does this comment warrant up-voting? He's wishing death to GameStop over a free demo as bonus for reserving the game the demo is for.
Or is it just that he said "Gamestop" and "sucks" in the same sentence?
who_cares @ Jun 17th 2009 1:34PM
Gamestop pre-order stuff isn't all like this though. Like if you pre-order BlazBlue you get an awesome artbook. Or how about when you pre-ordered Mirror's Edge you got a really cool messenger bag.
I know hating gamestop is the norm around here, but sometimes they get really cool exclusive pre-order stuff.
T @ Jun 17th 2009 1:48PM
Of course GameStop gets the good promos...up until only recently they were the company best associated with pre-orders.
Sure, Target...Wal-Mart...Best Buy...they're getting in on it, but that's only for BIG name titles (and even then it's questionable if they'll have it)
But Gamestop let's you literally pre-order ANYTHING, and also has the best system in place (do any of the big-box stores call you the day before for a reminder?)
You can hate on Gamestop's policy regarding buy-back and their prices for used games...but their pre-order system thus far can't be beat.
Dirty @ Jun 17th 2009 2:03PM
Its mostly pity votes.
Michelobius @ Jun 17th 2009 2:05PM
The problem with Gamestop's preorders aren't their quality. This one in particular is lame at best, but the problem is that I don't want to buy from gamestop. They are not a good company, and they do not have the gamer's best interests anywhere near their forefront. I'm not expecting charity here, but some of their policies are just bullshit. I know, I used to work there. So, I don't want to give them money.
Then they have this preorder shit that's exclusive, and I get it, it's to drive up business, but it's also driving down business of everywhere else, which I disdain.
Shagittarius @ Jun 17th 2009 2:55PM
IF there was ever a game you didnt need to bother to preorder this is it. Are you worried you wont be able to get a copy on launch day?
Stix Remix @ Jun 17th 2009 3:23PM
I upvoted. I feel dirty.

Paul @ Jun 17th 2009 1:57PM
well i'm sure EA is glad you like it.....you know with it being the cover of the game and all......
N3M3515 @ Jun 17th 2009 12:55PM
Shouldn't a Demo be available to convince people to buy a game, rather than being a pseudo-reward for those who will purchase it already?
SecretAgentHam @ Jun 17th 2009 1:01PM
this arguement has been going for a while now and there is no stop to the "pre order demo" codes. i guess if you want to play that demo you hope it comes out in another Marketplace/PSN Store.
Kattleox @ Jun 17th 2009 3:06PM
Except, being a Madden game, the people who are going to buy it already have played it nine other times. Only this time it's shinier.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 17th 2009 12:58PM
All is not lost! You can just download the Madden 09 demo to get a feel for what it will be like
And 8...7...6 so on and so forth :P

This works for me, since I was planning on boycotting Madden again this year so I will just reserve for it 5 bucks if it sucks or they still have a overcomplicated control scheme I will move my 5 bucks to Uncharted, Modern Warfare 2 or Ratchet
Storm Eagle @ Jun 17th 2009 1:02PM
Or: Pre-Order Madden 10, get sneak peek of Madden 11, 12, 13, 14.......
Storm Eagle @ Jun 17th 2009 1:03PM
Sorry tmac, I didn't see that I unintentionally copied your joke until after I posted mine.

Case @ Jun 17th 2009 1:14PM
It's so bass-ackwards to me that EA is affording Gamestop the ability to send out early demo keys to people that are committing to playing the game. Seems like they don't need to convert these "first day" buyers, they need to convince the thousands of us mildly disenchanted that Madden 2010 is an improvement and worthy of our dollars. Oh well. I'm not going to buy it either way I suppose, so who cares.
Meta @ Jun 17th 2009 6:27PM
Valve did the same thing with L4D, though the demo was the same the preorderers just got it early.
T @ Jun 17th 2009 1:14PM
I never understood the logic here. Pre-order a game...and get the DEMO! AKA: Pre-order the game in order to get a demo for a game you already know you will buy.
Viney @ Jun 17th 2009 2:48PM
EXACTLY. I love demos for games I'm not sure I want to spend full release price on or not, but if you already have it made up in your mind to go out and pre-order the game pre-release and pre-reviewed what's the point? Why start off your experience with that game with a limited feature, sometimes buggy, chopped up version of said game. I'd rather just wait for the full experience. Pre-order bonuses are nice but if you're going to make it exclusive, at least make it something worth pre-ordering from your store for.
It also makes me somewhat skeptical about the game on some level. If your demo is intended to persuade me to buy your game then why do I have to commit to buying it BEFORE I can get my hands on the demo.
GiggMan @ Jun 17th 2009 1:18PM
I don't get the pre-order hate (I'm sure someone will tell me off though) to me it's no big deal. If you know you are going to by the game why not pre-order and get early access. I remember the days when you pre-ordered a game you didn't get shit (actually I remember before pre-ordering existed). I guess I don't see why all the complaining. If you don't like the idea and despise every other living being that does, hell with it you don't have to do it.
Jrod @ Jun 17th 2009 8:07PM
Because people want a demo to TRY before they BUY?
BunnySlapper @ Jun 17th 2009 2:59PM
What the shit is this fuck?
GewurztraminerX @ Jun 17th 2009 1:29PM
So, really, all you have to do is pre-order but not get the game and transfer the credit towards something else and bam, you have a 'free' demo. It's been awhile since I pre-ordered anything, but I'm pretty sure it's allowable.
Of course, I've never done that.
And of course, I also don't even play Madden, so whatever.
SP @ Jun 17th 2009 1:35PM
I do it all the time, in fact thats exactly I am planning to to with Madden
cjay @ Jun 17th 2009 1:47PM
Pre-order online add instore pick up it's totally free that way fuck Gamestop
Jawmuncher @ Jun 17th 2009 1:49PM
I went to gamestop the other day to pre-order batman.
When I got home the receipt said I preordered madden lol.
Vcize @ Jun 17th 2009 2:14PM
This has to stop.
TreyIM @ Jun 17th 2009 2:18PM
All you complainers and haters of EA AND Gamestop are just little bitches loving to hate because your friends do or u think it's cool to do. Grow up.
I think early, if it is to be early which I think it will be, exclusive demos are the best way to get people to pre-order something they are interested in. Who really cares about a lame t-shirt or figurine with a pre-order? Personally, I'd rather try out a game than get some piece of nothing that matters to me otherwise pre-ordering a game unless there's going to be limited quantities is a waist of time to me
Gary @ Jun 17th 2009 2:24PM
that's ok, i'd RATHER play with the g-men anyway. BIG BLUE WRECKIN' CREW COMIN' THROUGH!
The Pie Pieper @ Jun 17th 2009 3:58PM
Not really free when you have to give Gamestop $10 to reserve your update.
come on EA, this is such an Activition move.
russ99 @ Jun 17th 2009 4:41PM
What is the point of pre-ordering anyway?
I can't think of a game I've bought for the PS3 that I couldn't just walk into my local big box the day of release and pick up.
Preordering is basically giving Gamestop $10 of you money to boost the balance sheet while you wait for the game.
And honestly, I rarely buy at Gamestop because of the guilt-trip given by the clerks when making a purchase without mindlessly following the dumb masses who do pre-order.
sean @ Jul 27th 2009 4:17PM
that's what I been trying to tell people, there really isnt any need to pre-order I go to the store all the time and everytime i'm buying games b4 the launch date of a big tittle the cashiers always tell me to pre order and she or he says i wont be able to get it, i always tell them yes i will and i dont sleep in lines all i do is go the morning it comes out, never had a problem and they didnt get my 10 bucks and who cares about a demo im bout to have the real deal in a few weeks i can be patient
Jrod @ Jun 17th 2009 8:06PM
Why would I pre-order a game that I never played?
Someone has it backwards....
hellz99 @ Jun 18th 2009 9:08AM
I remember playing this game back in 2001.
MetalBeldo @ Jul 21st 2009 7:37PM
This is the only game I get from Gamestop every year, and I preorder. The only reason is i'm a big dork and I want it right at Midnight. If the Bestbuy around here was to do a Midnight sale I would go there, but they don't.
And it's a different Demo then what EA is putting out for everyone next week. This is a 20 minute demo, 4 5 min. quarters, the one for everyone is going to be 8 minutes and between the Cowboys and Giants.
ellimem @ Jul 24th 2009 1:08AM
Let me break this down for everyone:
Pre-order demo means, hey, guys, you are going to buy our game, cool, here, play this while you have to wait for the full game. Best we can do for you now.
I don't own a Madden game for my 360 or PS3, so it's not like I have bought every one and am expecting something completely new. In fact, except for hardcore football fans that spend nights in June watching NFL Live buy the game every year. All of my friends and lots of people on the internet mention they only get the game every couple of years for the iterations to be different enough to buy and because they simply want updated graphics, running engines and rosters.
Why bitch about other people pre-ordering? It doesn't effect you. Games for this generation will always be 60$ for the PS3 and 360 and 50$ for the Wii. It won't drive up prices everywhere else because GameStop gets exclusive stuff.
sean @ Jul 27th 2009 4:16PM
you know, i think pre-order is a croc of shit especially for madden, though it maybe a small fee and im going to buy it anyway, i rather have that 10 or 15 dollars for lunch or gas, which is needed then. i've always gotten madden on launch date by going to the store the day it comes out and i always leave out with a copy, even from lame stop. there is just way too many stores thats gonna be selling this game, if youre not rich like me, keep your money trust me you will get the game on launch date just like everybody else.
