First time PSP owner here, This is an awsome update. MGS is the best game on the PSS (aside from maybe syphon filter 1). As for the psyco Mantis battle, if press the PS button while playing a PS1 game, it brings up the option menu and you can change controller ports from there.

Also, I thought ghost recon was pretty good. It isn't as good as syphon filter LS, but it is still pretty solid. Only flaws with the game were that there was no online and the graphics were kind of blurry.

Booooo.....guess I'll have to wait another week for Wild Arms II. Oh well, at least I get free Cross Edge DLC!

I found Wild Arms 2 to be worse than Wild Arms. It was the same game but the story was bland.

I thought that it was just as good. If you liked the Wild ARMs, I'd me surprised if you didn't like the second one. The story wasn't quite as good, but the gameplay was still there and the battles got a graphical boost. Besides, at the very affordable $6 anyone should be willing to take a stab in the dark. :-)

Mr. Kojima should definitely consider on porting MGS1 to the PS3.
I felt this after playing MGS4 Act 4.
I was kind of disappointed with Act 4, because there were only robots.
It would of been great if normal soldiers with white masks like MGS1 were added.

If the graphics aren't improved and the game isn't made widescreen a la Banjo-Kazooie for Xbox Live, I see little reason to buy this game. I still have my 1998 original.

I get tired of reading this. They don't release these games for people like you and me that keep the originals. They are there for those who haven't played them, or the crazies that like to sell their discs and eat up the digital downloads.

Levi every time they re release a PS1 great on PSN there will always be one dumbass who has to say that without first thinking as to why it's being release untouched and enhanced.

It's because it's a fucking PS1 Classic Patrick wtf don't you understand about that? It's the original game re-released digitally for people who want to replay it or for those who have never played it. So next time you see another game

Down, boys...down, boys.

I guess I should have said, "I see little reason FOR ME to buy this game." Of course there may be reasons for others that's understandable.

I think it's just the insinuation that Xbox does a better job at re-releasing games is what set you guys off.

My bro and I LOVED MGS1. We went back and played the first two on the NES too. I played and really liked the Game Boy game. When MGS2 came out though, I really didn't care for it. It felt like an uninspired MGS, and I wasn't interested enough to play through it. My brother did, an said it just wasn't very good. I Gamefly'd 3, and after a few hours, I just didn't like it. The story was bad, the gameplay was boring and frustrating... It's like every title was sucking the fun out of the first Solid title. Played the demo of 4, and it looks like I might actually be able to enjoy it.. But because it's been so long since I enjoyed a title in the series, I haven't bothered to pick it up yet. Probably end up borrowing it from a friend.

But really. The first Solid title should really be played by everyoe, as long as PS1 graphics don't turn you off. It was a fantastic game. Even if you are already a huge fan of a later title like 3 or 4, you'll be able to see where the modernized series started from when it came to 3D.

I can't remember, did the PS1 have L2 and R2 and if so, how do these games play on the PSP and accommodate?

If you're using the control setup that uses the analog nub to move around, the D-pad functions as L2, R2, and L2+R2, etc. If you're using the D-pad to move, then it goes to the analog nub to use those buttons.

Haha, Trey, I feel almost exactly the same! MGS4 wasn't my kind of thing, for whatever reason. I guess my taste has changed. However, even when I play the original MGS it just still feels so good, all around! I don't have an original copy anymore, so I may just get this on PSN!

Excellent, thanks for the tip.

Side note, I found Hot Shots Golf 2 to have some input lag on the 60 Gig PS3 here, but plays flawless on the PSP. I'm loving these PS1 games on the PSP more than the PS3 I think.. Now to grab MGS and FFIV.

Thanks again,

I want to know what video game store Jem goes to that would have a sealed copy of Metal Gear Solid in a bargain bin! Sealed classic original PlayStation games like Metal Gear Solid don't even exist in the major chains here, and the smaller chain and independent stores charge an arm and a leg for sealed copies of old games like these. Even ebay auctions are all over the place for near mint copies!
