Pegging the release date of DJ Hero as October 27, GameStop is listing the game with a $120 price tag across all consoles -- turntable peripheral in-tow. While we are, at very best, suspicious of any release dates or price tags attached to retailer listings, both GameStop and Amazon have details on not just DJ Hero, but also Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero and, strangely, Modern Warfare 2 (in Collector's Edition form, priced at $80). Those with a keen eye and a nose for all things "exploitable" will note that these titles all come from mega-publisher Activision, making us wonder if the company has simply released the information to retail before anyone else.
Considering the price for Tony Hawk Ride (and its living room-destroying peripheral of $120), a precedent for unproven peripheral pricing has certainly been set. We've asked for comment from Activision regarding the release dates and pricing, though had yet to hear back as of publishing.

I know! they failed to realize this idea to its fullest: Rap Hero.
Turntables. Drums. Two mics. And a lot of street cred.

Oh boy... Band Hero. I'm genuinely curious, however, as to what it entails...

Noting that, of course, my curiosity is tinged with skepticism, and rightfully so.

When they say "Band Hero", I can't help but think back to high school, and terrible songs performed awkwardly on football fields, songs that one only ever really played in the dim hope of getting laid or at least getting off for a day to ride roller coasters.
...maybe I'm just projecting my own experiences.
...on second thought, this game sounds PERFECT.

As interesting as Tony Hawk Ride looked, $120 is not a good price point for me. I expected it to be $100, the price of a guitar and game in the guitar hero series. I know the board is a little more advanced, but we can't keep buying all these damn "special" controllers to play one particular series of games.
Also what is Band Hero and why do we need it when Guitar Hero 5 is full band play? I think I'm gonna stop buying the "Hero" series all together because I have bought pretty much all of them except for Smash Hits, and I don't play them. Rock Band's focus on DLC is just drawing my attention away.

Wow. Activision is officially beating EA to the proverbial "milk the life out of the franchise" bit. I for one, won't be paying for any of these $120 games. I mean, seriously - I could get Splinter Cell: Conviction and Halo: ODST for the price of Tony Hawk Ride?!
Although, hats off for not settling with a half-baked peripheral. The board is nice, and I'm partly hoping the game sells well . . . buuuuuuuut, I wouldn't by a regular skateboarding game for $60 . . . so I'm not about to plunk down cash for this one.

Time has proven that people keep buying these "Hero" games. Im not all for having so many Heros in one year, but if people keep buying them can you blame Activision for pumping out the damn things. And watch I bet Tony Hawk sell pretty well just out of peoples curiosity for the product......

No thank you all around. Not that I'm not interested in those games, just not at those prices.

For modern warfare 2 the price is okay for a collector but for Dj Hero the price is good too. But we didnt try Dj Hero to know the real price of the game. Im waiting to see the critics to know if the game is worth it.

well i was interested but at $120, i'm out. there is no way that plastic controller is worth $60.

i will when they inevitably drop the price to get it off store shelves. but not for $120 i'm not.

no way. DJ hero was almost a consideration but for $120 i say forget it. GHII cost $80 on 360 with guitar in tow. One plastic instrument for $20 seems reasonable enough for me...

With the exception of GH5 (which I'm buying the game only), my interest only comes in Activision's NON-PERIPHERAL titles. I'm curious to see how many units of Modern Warfare 2, Singularity, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 sell compared to the bulky peripheral titles like Tony Hawk and DJ Hero.

I can see right through your complaining and into the future, you people complain too much about Guitar Hero which brings the world spiraling down into the horrible conclusion that this will be a fad and everyone will stop caring. This is a great game industry that lets us listen and play music without having to learn an instrument. some people don't have the time to learn an instrument and they want to play a quick video game (possible in a band with their friends) and enjoy their favorite music. Even if you love Rock Band your complaining will lead do a downfall in music game sales causing Harmonix to ease up on the music games and DLC until finally all is lost.
The solution? Stop complaining. Guitar Hero is actually doing a great job, now they are creating individual games for a fan of huge bands can play. My little brother is a huge Metallica fan, and when he saw Guitar Hero: Metallica on the shelf he picked it up right away just like he does every album. I did the same thing with Aerosmith, and I probably will also grab Van Halen. And if the music industry continues to grow and improve who knows how much better it will be in a few years. Think of Guitar Hero II, then think of Guitar Hero: Metallica. It is such an improvement.

The issue with GH isn't quality. The games are definitely pretty good. It's just by the end of next year we're going to have more of them than Final Fantasy games. Quantity is our issue. This is a legitimate cash cow and retarded sheeple are dense enough to keep buying them. Activision is competing with an overall better game but less common when compared to the sheer amount of Guitar Heros, Rock Band. They think by throwing their name around with more products will constitute an increase in sales. True in theory, but in practice, as you can see in this comment section, it only succeeds in angering the public.
TL;DR
Stop QQing that other people are QQing because it's pointless.
