Surprise! Splatterhouse missing 2009, splattering in 2010

They told us, "Namco Bandai Games America Inc. is hard at work on Splatterhouse. Development is in full swing and we are committed to bringing it to the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2010. This will give us time to polish and incorporate all the content to deliver a top notch game worthy of this classic video game franchise."
So, the American development team behind Afro Samurai has taken the reins from previous developer BottleRocket (with help from some now-former BottleRocket staff), and any 2009 release window you may have heard about in the past has been smashed with a gore-soaked two-by-four. So consider this a public service announcement: you won't be splattering any houses until 2010 (or "early 2010" as Siliconera was told).

Splatter-Who?

Honestly does every remake need to be in "3-D" the originals were classics and they could have just kept that look with improved graphics. Look at KoF.
I doubt this game is going to be the seller they expect it to be. Its going to hit the bargain bin so fast.

Most developers do not understand the idea of "Just because we can, does not mean we should."
Flash and the next new hip lingo is the only thing they understand when it comes to remaking classic games.
That is why most of them suck.
Case and point? Every Castlevania after Symphony of the Night blows except some of the ones on the DS. Why? Because they remove the ability to "do whatever we want" in terms of rendering and models.

3D gaming is so overrated. Give me a HD remake of Super Battletoads and I'll be good for the rest of the year.

Sprite based gaming is so overrated, give me some remakes of vector based games and I'll be good for a decade.

You got 2 of 'em, Geometry Wars and Geometry Wars 2.

Vector based gaming is so overrated. Give me some text based games again and I'll be happy for a century!

Games are so overrated. Give me some oxen, a plow, and a plot of land and I'll be good for the rest of the season.

What can I say? I get around.

I'm more interested on this game than Brutal Legend but I don't think I'll get any of them until a massive price drop.

A masochist eh!? : )
WINterfang @ Jun 18th 2009 9:52PM
Nah, quite frankly both look very average.

Splatterhouse only looked "OK". The art in it looks terrible. However if the delay improves everything about the game and the gameplay is solid and fun then I'm sure they'll have a winner on their hands. At the state the game is in right now I personally don't have the slightest interest in it. Show me some tantalizing footage of something awesome about it and I may change my mind.

We've all seen this before. If time has gone by without any visual work of the game, nor any word of how the progression is coming along with the project, then it's just a matter of time until the game is outright canceled by the publisher or developer. Especially when we live in a time where the economy is junk and everybody is looking for profitability execs from the high-up's will look at the project and question it's worth. So is it worth it? I don't think so.

It's safe to say that DBZ got priority, since they'll be released earlier, due to Splatterhouse's 2010 bump.

I'd actually care more for this update of the game if I managed to recognize the main character. What happened to you, Rick? Why aren't you weilding a machete or a bat? Are you stuck in berserk mode? That sucks.
