Tomb Raider creator designing mysterious new game at Crystal Dynamics

Toby Gard, creator of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft, is the lead designer at Crystal Dynamics. Well, actually, he has been since January 2009. But the transition from "game consultant" (on Tomb Raider: Legend) to "director of cinematics" to this new role went unnoticed until today, when a member of the unofficial Tomb Raider Forums noticed the change in Gard's LinkedIn profile.Gard lists his current responsibility as "leading a design group for an unannounced project." Now, this could be pretty much anything; but it's probably the next Tomb Raider. The series is getting another reboot, Crystal Dynamics has been staffing up to develop a new game in "one of the most prestigious AAA franchises in the industry" and, well, who'd honestly be better suited? But, as of now, we must simply go with "unannounced project" (a.k.a. Tomb Raider).

A new Legacy of Kain would be amazing, but the problem with the series is that it requires you to have played all previous games, and it's as story driven as the Metal Gear Solid games, only the dialogue is a lot more intelligent.
The series definitely has its fans, but I don't see them working on a new one. And if it doesn't actually continue from the loose ends that Defiance left, then what's the point?

Ah yes, that was the last time the press started getting wet over Toby Gard, the creator of Tomb Raider. He created Tomb Raider, you know, Toby Gard did. Created it. Tomb Raider. And then he made Galleon and everyone started looking at the floor, shuffling their feet and pretending they hadn't spent the last God knows how many years working up a froth over Toby Gard, the creator of Tomb Raider.

The Tomb Raider series doesn't need another reboot! It's great the way it is (although Underworld had its fair share of bugs, but anything is an upgrade from Anniversary).
I wouldn't mind seeing some more re-makes of the other games. I still to this day have not finished Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation since I bought it new for $25.00 for my Dreamcast back in 2000! I would like to finish that game on an engine that's worth a crap!
