We've heard a number of rumors claiming Mr. Clifford B. was preparing to eschew his chainsawgun-heavy namesake in favor of one more spooky. However, these rumors were recently crushed between Bleszinski's manly, well-maintained jaws during an interview with OXM, in which he explains he's "not making a horror game next," because, well, "Gears is very much near and dear" to him.
While news that Bleszinski's next project won't contain ammo conservation or purposefully poor lighting may seem like the biggest news to come out of the interview, the real sizzler arises three questions later, when Bleszinski proudly admits, "I'm a giant douchebag." (No, we're not making that up. Promise!)

Then you weren't playing Jazz Jackrabbit in the mid 90s, Unreal in the late 90s, and Gears now.
He's one of the last "rock star" developers. Possibly the absolute last. A relic of another time, probably, but one of the few devs recognized by face by a huge chunk of gamers and one of the last devs willing to speak without filter about anything you want.
Many of the rest have gone Jeter on us - completely hide personality whenever the public is listening. Then there's Dave Jaffe, who tries to prove he's not a dork by swearing too much (you make games, you're a dork, live with it.)

I'm going to guess it's the influence he's had through his company and games.
I think PC gamers think more of him that Xboxers

"I honestly have no clue why he's so gosh darned "revered"."
I used to admire him, because GoW 1, while not perfect, did so many things right, particularly gameplay wise. To date, I don't think any other game has a cover system that feels so robust, and intuitive. And multiplayer, while bit flawed (host advantage, shotgunning) was pretty great.
However GoW 2, particularly multiplayer, was/is such a disaster, I can only conclude it was mostly dumb luck the first time around, as they continue to strip away, slowdown, and dumb down gameplay, so that all that's left is an exercise in slow running character models, nerfed down manuvering, the same hosting problems as the original and then some, bots doing GoW 1 glitches that were patched in GoW 1, and so many more. Also, match making which completely misses the point by not even allowing players to specify game type, which leads to chronic dropping.
Essentially they knowingly shipped a broken multiplayer game and didn't even patch it until months later.
Oh yeah, and they even had DLC maps to sell starting less than 6 weeks after it's release.

Well Tre, Jazz Jackrabbit came out before you were born, it came out back in 1994 and I played it first back in 1997. A sequel came out in 1998 and they wanted to make a third game but it was sadly scrapped. I can't believe how much Epic has changed since then.

Played GoW online most nights for two years, I couldn't even stand two weeks of GoW2. They are two completely different games online, with 2 going for gimmicks and slow gameplay which killed it for me. I hope that Gears 3 goes back to GoW style, abandoning 2 as the troublesome middle child, it won't happen, but I can dream..

Some people just can't stand it when their favorite franchises change... even for the better. Gears of War 2 is the grownup, more mature brother of Gears of War. It is just simply better.

Gears 2 was profoundly better than the first game, especially with the addition of Horde mode.

Telling everyone he's all grown up and no longer wants to be called "CliffyB" was his best douchebag move in recent memory. "CliffyB" is your nickname. You're not Puff Daddy/P.Diddy/Diddy/Sean John/Sean Combs. You're a nerd who makes games that wants everyone to think you're cool because you highlight your hair, whitened your creepy jackal teeth and wear an earring. Get over yourself. You are a douchebag.

Mr. B is all about "player choice."
I wonder if "player choice" was in mind when he shoved the god awful matchmaking systems down our throats where we couldn't setup or choose the way we wanted to play the game we spent 60 US dollars + tax. If they were to remove matcmaking and have online setup like the first Gears of War with lobbies then it would have been an accetable game. What is the purpose of paying for Xbox Live and a Live enabled game when the only human interaction you get in the 5 short rounds is after each match a little "Fuck your mom and suck my cock" banter?

Well, to be fair, matchmaking is something that everyone begged and pleaded for in Gears 2. They just, you know, expected it to work properly when they asked for it.
I'm not sure what your last comment is about, they (finally) changed it so you can talk to the other team in between rounds, and you've always been able to talk to them in the dead room.

the only player choice I ever saw in Gears was whether you wanted to go left or right a few times

Maybe that is because the PS3 sucks in comparison to the 360. That is why Activision is considering not even bothering with it anymore.

Actually it is better. Gameplay feels better and its more fun. Story was good too. Now the only thing that feels that they took a step backwards was in the multiplayer. Matchmaking was a total disaster when it came out and it is still not very good (unless you have a great internet connection).
I don't know, maybe I'm not being fair to it, since I am comparing Halo 3 multiplayer to it.
