Joystiq Podcast 099.5 - Get Off Our Lawn edition

With Justin out this week – undoubtedly with a liver full of West Virginia moonshine – the remaining podcast hosts have tapped one Mr. JC Fletcher to bring his formidable video game knowledge (not to mention formidable facial hair!) to the show. The missing host? Face as smooth as a baby's underarm. JC? Grizzled. Think new Max Payne ... but even grittier.
And with an esoteric Japanese video game t-shirt on.
And ... uh ... thanks (?) to Alan Black for the 'chop ... and for scaring everyone on the internet by showing us what Mount Rushmore's icons would look like if they had teeth. And were totally bald (I'm bald-ING, thankyouverymuch!).

Chris looks like Zordon.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 19th 2009 9:59PM
next weeks photoshop needs to be Chris as Zordon and Justin and Ludwig as power rangers. With maybe Grffin and Bjork thrown in there
Action-Alan @ Jun 19th 2009 11:06PM
It has been done: http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss18/AlanBlack13/Josytiq%20Photoshops/chriszordon.jpg I whipped that up fairly quick so I apologize if the quality isn't great. I couldn't think of a way to make Justin, Griffin, and Bjork Power Rangers because of the whole helmet thing.

Sly @ Jun 19th 2009 7:52PM
also, why aren't all the episodes on itunes? it starts at episode 88. i heard episode 20 is really good, but i can't download it! nooooooo!
Courtney @ Jun 19th 2009 8:24PM
That might have been around the time of the upgrade to Ultrastiq, when iTunes went really wonky.
You can always go back through the archive (linked under the podcast logo in the right sidebar) to find old ones. Every one has a direct download link:

ahh, the ultrastiq update. i remember all the complaining around that time. wow...
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Jun 20th 2009 2:35AM
I think that's an iTunes problem. I remember having difficulty trying to access previous GFW podcasts when Joystiq did their 'best moments' post.
Donald @ Jun 19th 2009 7:39PM
Such teases, but I guess you need Justin around for a full 100.

Sensitive about your hair, much, Chris?
Christopher Grant @ Jun 19th 2009 9:35PM
WHY? NO! TOTALLY NOT!!!
(does it look alright?)
Action-Alan @ Jun 19th 2009 8:24PM
Umm...is it just me or is the podcast cut short? At first I thought it was just 49 min long but it ends right after Chris says "ten clammers." Both iTunes and the mp3 seem to be cut short.
Christopher Grant @ Jun 19th 2009 9:36PM
Really? I'm not seeing it on my end. Any more details?
Action-Alan @ Jun 19th 2009 9:42PM
Yeah, it seems the iTunes store is listing the episode as being 1:27:48, but when I downloaded it it was only 49:37. I've downloaded it twice, but to no avail.
Dylta @ Jun 19th 2009 9:48PM
I too have this problem Sir.

Does that file download for you?
Action-Alan @ Jun 19th 2009 10:08PM
It downloaded fine, but it is still only 49 minutes and cuts off mid-sentence.
Dylta @ Jun 19th 2009 11:02PM
itunes says its the full lenght but it doesn't play the full 1:27:48. I played the file in VLC and in iTunes at the same time and they matched up. but then i stopped both and the jumped to 1:45 (a part that synced up when played together) and the audio was different.
heres a video http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=112025573553&oid=8702785815#/video/video.php?v=112025573553&oid=8702785815
Action-Alan @ Jun 19th 2009 11:21PM
Redownloaded the podcast in iTunes once more and it seems that I have got the whole thing this time. Problem solved.
Christopher Grant @ Jun 19th 2009 11:39PM
I just reuploaded the file – hoping that fixed it for everyone.
Shmil @ Jun 21st 2009 2:43PM
Would Kotakus editor in chief do all that to help out a small number of readers? I think not.
Adeese @ Jun 19th 2009 8:24PM
Since this week's episode is only 50 minutes long, does that mean that Justin just can't stop talking normally, and artificially extends the length of the podcast? :)
Look At This Suit @ Jun 19th 2009 8:32PM
1. Justin isn't in this week's podcast.
2. It's one hour and 27 minutes long.
Mike @ Jun 19th 2009 8:30PM
That pic will haunt my nightmares until my dying day.
Adeese @ Jun 19th 2009 8:36PM
Hrm...iTunes is telling me that it is 49:37. This doesn't bode well.
Dylta @ Jun 19th 2009 8:36PM
why is the podcast cu short. is this a glitch or does it really end mid sentence?
Christopher Grant @ Jun 19th 2009 9:40PM
More details? It's working fine for me. :-/
Dylta @ Jun 19th 2009 9:46PM
it cuts off after something about ten clammers then the fie is over. tryed to listen to it 3 times but it stoped short every time
Dylta @ Jun 19th 2009 9:47PM
file not fie

I am so tired of hearing the Joystiq crew complaining about the PSP Go. Here's a news flash, podcasting and gamer elites. IT'S NOT FOR YOU!
Sony is positioning the Go for the electronics consumers market and to sell into that market. They are not looking to sell a current PSP owner a PSP Go. Did you even listening to the marketing line of the Go presented at Sony's E3 press conference?
The pricing is clear when viewed in comparison to competing products in that market like, duh!, the IPod Touch. Current prices for the 16 Gb IPod Touch is the same as or more than the $250 price of the Go. So the value proposition is a cheaper device that plays video and music as well as playing the highest quality portable games out there. That's the value proposition. It is not an overpriced PSP upgrade. It is a competitively priced portable multimedia device that plays games. Got it?
