Realtime Worlds plans to hire another 50 staff by early 2010 and has already taken out an additional 8,000 square feet of space to accommodate. CEO Gary Dale says the team has been energized by the "countless plaudits" (what is that, a sparkly button?) it received for APB during E3.
Realtime's vocal need for talent probably has a little something to do with the fact that it's in a talent acquisition race with the neighbors at Ruffian Games, who are currently working on Crackdown 2. As we recently learned, the Scotland-based studios are skimming talent from a relatively shallow pool.

The thing is... they are about 200 foot away from Abertay university which had like 6 different courses to do with game development, sure it's rough talent but I'm sure if they were to help the graduates develop they'd had a very skilled and talented workforce to continue to develop great games

8000 feet of space? They must be expecting 50 really obese people.

Yeah, I study in Dundee (from Edinburgh originally - and not giving you any information about which of the two Universities I'm at or what I'm studying, btw ;-) ) and we got an e-mail around saying they weren't offering work placements this year for us heading-into-final-year students. This was after those interested were kept waiting for about ten weeks with continual updates from our supervisor basically saying "Still waiting to hear from Realtime Worlds...".
I thought they were ramping up production on the unannounced project that was mentioned (I thought it was Crackdown 2 judging by the body language and choice of words when someone brought it up, but Ruffian got that instead so I'm now curious as to what said unannounced project actually is) at Game in Scotland at Fat Sam's in March, but obviously not. It seems they're just spazzing about and I know people in my class who would have killed for a placement there.
If their website is full of stuff about how great the company is to work for, why are they having difficulty finding people? Methinks they're being fussy and have set the bar too high. I think RW are going to get drunk on APB and Crackdown's success and go downhill, but that's just me being very cynical as usual.
