Thirteen uncut, unedited minutes of God of War III's E3 demo

Pay attention to some of our favorite new moves: the ability to grab an enemy and use him as a battering ram, and the ability to burst through crowds of enemies. Being able to take control of a cyclops is pretty cool as well. Those of you that watch the video in HD will be able to truly appreciate the gruesome finishing moves the sick, disturbed people at Santa Monica Studios have added to this game. Yes, it looks like a decent enough platformer/button masher. At the very start of the video when the villagers and the skeleton warriors were in the shade, I found it hard to see which were the villagers and which were the enemies right away.
Thre were a few other small odd things like when Karatos if fighting the ...three-horned dog animal at around 5:20. He cuts off the tail and then the tail disappears? Its just 'gone' and it was a pretty huge freaking tail what with the snake head and everything. I know there's some other games like...Ohh Quake 1 where disembered body parts still remain on the ground long after the enemy loses it. aka 'Gibs'.
I didn't get some parts like at 6:30 where he walks up to the catapult thing and the top corner says 'Hold R1' and then the video sequence starts. Was he somehow aiming the chariot? or firing? or what did the catapult thing do? I didn't see any 'arrows' or anything fly from it?
I'm a bit mixed on this game. It looked in some ways like it would be fairly fun to play but in others looked button mashing ish and unfinished. The game seems to be running a solid 26fps to 30fps and did appear to have a slow down or two. Especially at the start. Anyone else notice that?

wes, i noticed the slowdown at the start too. i just thought it was my computer. and yeah, the tail immediately disappearing bothered me a bit, but it doesn't matter that much.

@Wes Are you being serious or just retarded, Quake 1? Come on, technically that was effected by both client and server side settings. Not only that but it was a low resource game. Also from what I remember, gibs did not last that long. They just stayed for a while. The catapult part, he was about to fire before the monster showed up to rape him from behind. He decided not to take it up the ass and fight the monster instead.
I could see how you could be confused as both choices are probably valid for you, however for Kratos it's not.

Um. If you haven't noticed this game has like 9 months before it even hits the shelf. They haven't even started polishing the game. Saying you're not sold on the game when it's not even close to finished is ridiculous.
IMO the game looks great and the amount of polish and sheer fun the game exudes at such an early point in time is impressive. Slowdown and any graphical glitches are gonna be smoothed out. Just think back to the VGA trailer(all gameplay) and look at the game now. The amount of progress is impressive.

You know what caused the slow-down? Trying to watch an HD video in a Flash player. The slow-down and choppiness wasn't just at the beginning, it persisted throughout the whole video. I'm guessing it would look ten times better in Quicktime or WMV.

It's footage that was already available from E3, but it was nice to hear Stig with the commentary during the video. I can't get over how stunning it looks in motion.
It looks like this will compete with Mass Effect 2 for my goty 2010 :D

Yeah! I love R&C I have the WHOLE collection on the PS2! Still gotta get ToD and QFB this generation. I'm lagging behind on R&C this generation for some reason, but hopefully R&C Future A Crack in Time has some multi player to get me back into it.

The ripping of the eyeball was truly a shocking moment. Maybe it was all the blood gushing out but I really was, "OMFG"
Loved the fighting. The harpies looked boring though a s a method of getting across gaps.

I thought pulling the head off was worse. Not 'cutting' the head off, but literally pulling it off. The way the skin stretches and then tears, and the spinal cord and icky bits inside dangle out.
Also, gutting the centaur was brutal. Its intestines drop out.
I find it hard to believe that this game is going to be able to release without some sort of censoring.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to think that! R&C was the reason I bought my first console, a PS2 (its demo was the first thing I played too ^^). And R&CF:ToD was the first of my many reasons for buying a PS3. And now I'm really anxious to play CiT.

You should DEFINITELY buy ToD.
If you haven't heard any news about the upcoming CiT (about the villain in the game, that is), then you should buy QfB since it introduces that villain at the end of it. But if you have already heard about him, then just leave it, the game isn't that great (I liked it because I'll admit it, I'm a R&C fanboy :P).

Things I liked:
The fight between the giant/god/titan and the god in the background.
Killing the monster with its own horn.
Things I didn't like:
Grabbing onto the harpies and killing them while they carried him across gaps. (Would've been cool once, but not as the main way to cross gaps.)
