It appears as though Microsoft's plans for an August launch of its Games on Demand service is popping up a bit early. Why just this morning, we spotted a listing for the already confirmed Mass Effect (sporting its snazzy new Platinum Hits packaging) in our Xbox.com Marketplace RSS feed. Unsurprisingly, the listing has been removed from the website itself, though RSS feeds won't allow for editing after something has been published.
As 360sync.com rightfully points out, game manuals will be provided virtually through the Xbox.com Marketplace website according to the listing, so you've got that going for ya (which is nice). We're not sure when these puppies are showin' up on XBL for sure, but from the looks of things, we'd say sooner rather than later. For a video tour of the upcoming Games on Demand service, hit the break.
My only question is that when I bought Mass Effect Platinum Hits about a month ago, I got the bonus disc that came with Bringing Down the Sky, as well as all of the rest of the bonus content... Will that stuff still be available to those who buy it online? This goes for other games, too... Will you receive the bonus content, especially when they use the Platinum Hits box art, which comes with the bonus content...
#1. My 360's disc drive is toast, without any kind of error that can be submitted for warranty. So at this point it's an XBLA machine before I can earn the spare cash to get another Arcade unit. This kind of service is perfect if I can't wait for a game I don't already own, but I'm not exactly the demographic they're looking for.
#2. WTF Joystiq? I've de-published or corrected RSS feeds plenty of times. I understand if *your* system promotes journalistic integrity, but don't dare think that other people play on the same footing.
This is going to be great who doesn't like downloading games? Look at Steam its doing an amazing job! Now we have 360 Steam plus the downloading games mean you don't have to download the game when you buy it (honestly how many of you download the game to your 360's so its a bit faster?) So most of you aren't saving room and plus Microsoft allows you to download anything you've already downloaded for free meaning just delete the game and grab some more come back when you want! Plus now we can throw games on the memory cards and bring it to our friends you can have a CoD session at a friends with out the disc which means you won't scratch it!
