The SNES you see above, ladies and gentlemen, is no SNES at all. It is, in fact, a fully functioning PC (an Acer Aspire One netbook, if you want to know). Built by quangDX and DuPPs of Asobitech.com, the AASNES1 packs all the connections you need, WiFi and even some cool USB extension cables that plug directly into the console's controller ports (its makers also modified a Super NES controller to work as a USB controller). The DVD-RW drive is located inside the Super Mario World cartridge and the modders even made the Super Nintendo logo on the back light up. It is, in summation, sweet.
Check out a video of the AASNES1 after the break and head over to Asobitech for a step-by-step retelling of its creation.

Alright, I need to tell this story since we're talking about the SNES.
So it's a couple of years ago. A rainy day. My neighbors are having a garage sale. I walk in, and I'm drawn to a bin, this MAGICAL bin...This bin contained a functional SNES, a Game Genie, about 15 games including Turtles in Time and Sunset Riders, and a bomberman party pack.
20 clams. Best. Day. EVER.

Technically you can dump your copy of turtles of time to a Rom, and when you play it in any emulator you're playing YOUR copy.

Boo - I'd rather have a PC with SNES hardware inside. What a waste of a SNES! Think they'd let me have the guts of it if I asked nicely? ;)

Eh, I could sacrifice my spare SNES console for this. Not my SNES Mini though, that's too near and dear to my heart.
The only thing I would have done differently--and maybe this would have been just too difficult--is to have modified a 4-play adapter into a USB hub which you could plug normal controllers into. Good, original SNES controllers are difficult to come by, and I wouldn't want to do the modding on the controller side of things if I could help it.

Doesnt that just show how far computer tech has come, I guess small electronic stuff today have faster processors than the SNES. Can still remember my first PC (maybe 10,12 years back) had a hard drive with lower capacity (2 GB) than the RAM we have today.

I still have a 80MB (yes, megabytes) hard drive laying on a shelf somewhere. Think i had a 20MB one to, but that was never from one of my computers, but rather a relic i salvaged from some old throwaways at a local business.

I personaly think it's quite telling that the Wii has to offer SNES games for download to add to it's library of good games! Especially when you can get them for free and play them on better emulators anyway.

Plz Offday, don't be so presumptuous. So i'm too young to remember the awesomeness of the SNES when i started gaming on the Atari 2600? At the age of 2!
/Fail.
I would only remotely slightly maybe THINK about considering the SNES is better than the Wii, if the Wii didn't have SNES games available to DL. But since it does, then the Wii is pwnt. Sorry.

Oh and... "might have to try that?"
Try what? I have a feeling you have a hard time even tying your shoe laces, idiot.
