Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is back from the dead

Due to nightmarish travel complications during a return trip from E3 and then a bizarre, four-day long hippie sun-cooking ritual, the author of this humble feature has been out of commission for some time -- an oversight for which said author apologizes. If only the cultivation of comics was a brisk process! As you might imagine, it takes days of intense concentration, followed by a solid day of drinking, and then another day of concentration, and then, yes, another half-day of drinking.
We're back in action, though! Below are our seven favorite gaming-centric webcomics of this past week! You can (and should!) vote for your favorite after the jump, and drop a link in the comments to tell us what gems we missed out of during our accidental furlough.
Consumer Advocacy (Penny Arcade)
How to Spot the Doomed Characters Early (Dipswitch)
All Work and No Play (Sidescroller)
The Power of Teamwork (2P Start)
A Dose of Fake Reality (Virtual Shackles)
Prince of Amnesia (Burn the Internet)
A New Business Venture (Digital Unrest)

this was this week's Hello With Cheese:

But I can't but help feel that last week's HWC could have pulled a win:

Ghen @ Jun 21st 2009 9:22PM
I think the pac-man the 2nd panel could've just been the whole comic.
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 9:22PM
i like the first one. the art style really clicks with me for some reason.
WINterfang @ Jun 21st 2009 9:41PM
the Pacman works great and I like the artstyle.
TinyTim121 @ Jun 21st 2009 8:42PM
Virtual Shackles takes this weeks trophy imo
Moopcow @ Jun 21st 2009 8:44PM
Hope you saw Flavor Flav do 911 is a joke, that was my #1 moment! :)
MowDownJoe @ Jun 21st 2009 8:52PM
You should've done the weeks you missed. "All is Forgiven" was brilliant. And I'm sure we all felt the same way.
(In case you haven't seen it: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/6/3/ )
Gavin @ Jun 21st 2009 9:10PM
Virtual Shackles has really come out strong. They're pretty close to Penny Arcade in illustration quality and written with an even level of quality! good job guys :)
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 9:20PM
i agree, i loved it. easily ties for best this week, along with digital unrest.
Look At This Suit @ Jun 21st 2009 9:13PM
Can't decide between PA, Burn the Internet, and Dipswitch, all three got a chuckle out of me.
Giroro @ Jun 21st 2009 9:13PM
BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
Bagels: Commander in Chief of the lolcat sarcasm alert force. @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:18AM
Humor is subjective except in your case, in which you are the most hilarious entity in the universe. The way your quoting an overly done cliche stated in the article? Complete and total genius. You should write comics. Better yet, you should write comics in the middle of an 8 lane highway.
Giroro @ Jun 21st 2009 9:15PM
Stop putting dipswitch on here. I keep accidentally clicking on it, and I don't want to give that shit my traffic
Ghen @ Jun 21st 2009 9:24PM
It was extremely specific and thus useless as a faux guideline that it proposed itself to be so I'd have to agree.
alienmastermind @ Jun 21st 2009 9:44PM
Hey, thanks for reading!
And, I guess for having brain damage that's caused your short-term memory loss.
Hooray for brain damage.
Alien
Bagels: Commander in Chief of the lolcat sarcasm alert force. @ Jun 21st 2009 11:22PM
Y'all
REALLY
REALLY
REALLY
need to light up ALOT when talking about a COMIC on the INTERNET. Just don't vote for it.
Giroro @ Jun 22nd 2009 12:44AM
No. Because webtraffic gets them advertisers, which gets them money. In general, I want dipshit to go away.
rTwelve @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:58AM
I want you to go away. Do I stop clicking on your name in order for that to happen?
Giroro @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:38AM
Shit no. I don't make money off of this.
alienmastermind @ Jun 22nd 2009 7:42AM
Damn, man.
I don't come to where you work and slap the dicks out of your mouth, why you gotta try and keep me from making MY money?
Actually, I'm just kidding, I don't really make much off of the comic.
But again, thanks for not remembering to fail to click my comic, man. I still think that's got to be the finest form of psychosis I've ever heard of.
:)

Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 9:19PM
digital unrest was awesome.
BigD145 @ Jun 21st 2009 9:27PM
Science. It works, bitches.
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 9:23PM
yay?
Mr Khan @ Jun 21st 2009 9:29PM
Damn. Good thing nobody took my bet...
Chad Vanderbilt (Moptimus in Disguise) @ Jun 21st 2009 9:29PM
looks like Khan was 2 days too late
Roto13 @ Jun 21st 2009 9:30PM
Whoever wrote that Prince of Persia comic is a fucktard.
*flees*
Sly @ Jun 22nd 2009 2:57AM
haha i didn't understand what you meant at first but then i read everything. it was a decent comic. it was just a tad bit longwinded for a webcomic, but oh well.
Jason @ Jun 21st 2009 9:30PM
lmao 2p Start was really good, so was penny arcade so yea 2 good ones.
Jacksons @ Jun 21st 2009 9:30PM
Had to vote for Burn the Internet. I loved how he'd just start the damned story over if he died. Poor audience.
Mr Khan @ Jun 21st 2009 9:31PM
huh, i was beginning to fear that the feature had been canceled.
Anyhoo: i liked Burn the Internet best for some reason, but it was a strong comeback week, pretty much all around
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 9:40PM
dude seriously, what's your avatar? i keep thinking it's charizard when i glance at it, but then i realize it's not...
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 9:41PM
oh nevermind, i recognized it. the sniper guy from one piece...
Vaitork @ Jun 21st 2009 10:06PM
Are you nuts? That's T-Bone from SWAT Kats!
Damn, one can watch literally ANYTHING as a kid. I kind of want to see it again but I rather not and keep thinking of it as cool :)
Vaitork @ Jun 21st 2009 10:09PM
Hmm, I realize you saw a different avatar. My bad.
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 10:30PM
dude, i would recognize t-bone anywhere. swat kats, megas xlr, samurai jack, and the grim adventures of billy & mandy are the best shows that ever graced cartoon network. now their lineup is decent, but the reality shows are bullshit. CN are sellouts for having those shows.
Old Professor Zertoss @ Jun 21st 2009 10:31PM
lol Sogeking
Mr Khan @ Jun 21st 2009 10:47PM
to be a sell-out, you actually have to have something that is popular. I see no evidence to suggest that anyone demands this "CN Real" garbage
Mr Khan @ Jun 21st 2009 10:49PM
also: i have 3 avatars now, though one of them is pretty rare at this point. Soon to be four, as soon as i cross a coming milestone
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 11:18PM
your point about sellouts is true. and what's the milestone? is it related to joystiq? possibly 9000 comments on joystiq proper or 4000 comments on joystiq nintendo? after this comment, i'll be 6 away from 3000 comments...
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 9:32PM
you mean 2 days early? his bet was tuesday.
Sly @ Jun 21st 2009 9:32PM
ohh, you meant his bet, not sprinkles...
Chad Vanderbilt (Moptimus in Disguise) @ Jun 21st 2009 9:33PM
yes, so his bet would be late, Sprinkles would be early
Hyams @ Jun 21st 2009 9:33PM
Dude, seriously, make your next name 'WhackAMole'.
Jawmuncher @ Jun 21st 2009 9:44PM
Burn the Internet wins for being about sands of time alone.
It was still very funny though.
Damn sands of time was the greatest PoP game ever
Quattro @ Jun 21st 2009 9:57PM
Burn the Internet and Virtual Shackles were my favourite. Not sure why so many people liked Penny Arcade's though.
Young_Nastyman @ Jun 21st 2009 10:37PM
Seriously, PA's was not funny
I'm surprised I found Robot Martini funny
but my vote has to go to burn the internet for the truthiness factor
Gavin @ Jun 21st 2009 11:51PM
maybe they're all lazy and picked PA because it was at the top of the list? :-)
manyquestions @ Jun 21st 2009 10:02PM
So I guess that's a no on including a "none of the above" option? I mean, it's not a big deal now since this was a pretty good week overall, but still something to look into.

MNC Dover @ Jun 21st 2009 10:45PM
Why not just not vote at all? You're supposed to vote for your favorite comic and, at least in theory, you would hate one the least. Therefore, you should just vote for the one you disliked the least. Problem solved. :)
Roto13 @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:03AM
MNC Dover: I just read your latest comic. It saddens me with its truth. >_>
