It's an interesting move, to be sure. At least it will allow us to better assign blame for exactly why the game didn't sell well, as in, if they keep the same or similar visual style, and more importantly the same perspective, we can see if the platform was responsible

I think, along with those factors mentioned, age and gamer-awareness are what this game needs to sell. Sure everyone owns a DS, but that's also the problem. Females, children, seniors, etc. all have a DS, but this game won't appeal to them. Also, I've talked to so many people that didn't even know a GTA game was released on the DS.

It was very well received on the DS, it just didn't have the amazing sales to go with the amazing reviews. It's too bad, the game was great and there isn't anything like it available on the DS. I'm glad Rockstar released it, even though they weren't rightfully rewarded for their work. Hopefully it sells well on the PSP. Buy this game, PSP people! (PsPeople?)

Probably because most people try to pirate DS games rather than buying them. Despite the fact that last I heard GTA:CTW didnt work on R4 cards (that could have changed by now, not sure) that doesnt stop people from downloading it regardless with the hope that it will eventually work. The relatively small size of DS games makes them easier and faster to pirate compared to the larger PSP ISOs and the fears of bricking with CFW or the cost of Memory sticks to store the ripped ISOs,

I'm glad to see Rockstar did the right thing by making a PSP version of GTA: Chinatown Wars. I understand why they did that. I thought the DS version did ok. But to them it was not a good sales hence the PSP version. Now everybody with any of those handheld win.

To those snickering over this, the DS game sold on pace with the PSP titles pretty well. In the roughly 3mo it has been on the market it has done around 550,000 in sales which is fantastic and supremely profitable.
They're just after gouging for more cash, just like how the 2 PSP games hit the PS2 shortly after.

Joystiq Playstation gets so much more hate posts than Nintendo and Microsoft! I mean, tmac seems like a well-respected man on the Nintendo parts compared to this gay lion sprinkles whatever you guys bash into the ground with bulldozers and pile drivers.
I personally don't own a PSP, but I think this is a great financial move on Rockstar's part. Never mind that all the fun touch-screen parts get taken out, it's going to sell probably even better than the DS version and they barely lift a finger!

thinking about the power of the psp, it would be hard for R* to port the map onto the psp unless the gameplay is just like the ds version of GTA CTW (meaning isometric view). if it were like LCS and VCS it would be close to impossible to port it in my opinion even though it would be cool to keep the gameplay the same as LCS and VCS. since i hear the controls are changed, it made me think of how it would look like if it looked like syphon filter. they would have to combine the maps and add vehicle spawns if it used the same system. but that would be impossible either way. i just hope it doesnt have an isometric view (not really against it but id prefer the view of LCS and VCS over it)
