Considering the game's been announced for a little over two weeks but is set to drop in 2010, we expect news for Final Fantasy XIV to fly fast and furious in the months leading up to its release. Today, for instance, we've received rumors claiming that the beta process for the game will begin as early as September, spawned by a recently uploaded Help Wanted sign on Square Enix's site which requests the aid of game testers and game masters.
The employment offering doesn't actually mention FFXIV, though -- it only asks that applicants be well versed in FFXI, which led some fans to speculate that most of the FFXI support team will be shifted to XIV. The GM positions are scheduled to start mid-September -- a potential start date for the speculated beta. Also lending credence is the fact that the FFXIV dev team claims to have been working on the game for five years, and wants it to have a longer beta period than XI's, which was only four months.
We're smelling a lot of "if" coming off this rumor, but our sister site Massively (which knows more about MMOs than anyone ever) thinks it carries some weight. We'll adhere to its wise, wise judgment.

XIV has been in development for nearly 5 years, as long as XIII. And XIII is aimed for a Xmas '09 release, even if thats Japan only, so it will be out before XIV. And don't forget that VIII to XI came out within 4 years of each other, one a year on average, but that's mainly due to XI having a separate development team, same with XIV.

You guys realize that it is called Final Fantasy because Square was in financial difficulties. The company then decided to put one last game out since development was already under way and called it Final Fantasy because it was going to be the last game that Square developed. Who would of known that that game would be the savior of the company. So it isn't surprising that Square would keep on developing that franchise...It has grossed them millions of dollars, if not billions, over the years. And to those who tell us that FF is a dead or dying franchise...tell that to the millions of people that buy the next game every time Square releases a new one, or to Microsoft's wallet when they bought themselves into getting FFXIII to release on their platform.

I would like to say a few things about FFXI and SE
SE customer service sucks
Japanese people are racist, not all but majority of them ( Sorry JP only )
Making gil in that game sucks ass
Camping NMs/HNMs and camping against people sucks ass.
The PVP sucks
Killing same mobs to 75 is not fun, ( I think i'll kill crabs all day for a few levels and then maybe some goblins or mandys.
The game is broken after the sync system its so easy to level now you have noobs everywhere.
The crafting system sucks balls
Skill up system sucks balls
Leveling system sucks hairy ass
There's just so many more things the game does not have to offer its been around since 2002 and people should just give it a break. I played FFXI for 4 years and switched to wow, if anyone who plays wow would notice, that its not super easy like you think, it has tough ass raids tough group quest tough leveling areas and another thing you do not have to spend 2 hours fighting a stupid boss, 10min is probably the most you'll spend on a boss.
wow is only easy when leveling because Blizzard actually wants you to get to end game to enjoy it, unlike SE where they torture you by having you fight the same mobs and once you get to end game its just a piece of trash, i think i'll farm sky, or maybe sea, and my gear stats barely even make a difference. Level 30 gear from wow blows out any ffxi gear including dks with k clubs. Anyone willing to pay SE for more trash enjoy.
2 million people play FFXI according to SE's Population list meanwhile 13million play wow last year imagine this year, huge difference, i dont think the difference is because the game is easier its just because its better, in all ways.
I can fly in wow and my cheap 60% mount is better then any chocobo, but wait i got a 100% speed mount and 310% epic flyer. LOL
