Sonic turns 18 tomorrow, Sega giving you all his presents
It's Sonic's birthday tomorrow. He's turning 18 and leaving the awkwardness of puberty behind to become an adult hedgehog. To celebrate this special time in every blue speed-demon's life, Sega is going to hold a bash and give away many Sonic-related gifts to all of his fans. On Tuesday, June 23 (that's tomorrow), keep your eyes glued to both @sonicgames on Twitter and Sonic on Facebook for a chance to win any one of the 15 prize packs up for grabs (see after the break for deets).
All prizes are available to win worldwide -- there's no silly regional restrictions it would seem (except for Quebec because you're too good for foreign goods*). The Sega Blognik has the full rules on how (and when) to enter the contests, so make sure you hit that up.
*Not an actual restriction

Meh, he was cool back when I was 10 but not anymore, I don't think today's 10 year olds want his swag anyways, much less his recent games....
Bagels: Commander in Chief of the lolcat sarcasm alert force. @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:09AM
Gimme any Rush for the DS, skip the rest. PLEASE.
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:14AM
You couldn't be more wrong, I see a lot of 10 year olds on my mall with Sonic t-shirts and even some adults. ( the hot topic ones).
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:21AM
I hope I'm not stuck on some big flamewar between those two, I'm just a Sonic fan that's all.
Tiptup300 @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:28AM
Man,
FUCK SEGA
Cosmo (formerly Chin-Poh) @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:29AM
Interesting, I didn't know that WINterfang. I guess I can't give much of an opinion since its been a long time since I have played a Sonic game.
Cosmo (formerly Chin-Poh) @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:41AM
Ah, I just installed the Joystiq Comment Killfilter below.

I forgot who created it and brought it to our attention but thanks so much.
Now all I can see is.
Sprinkles: Derp de derp derp derp de derpderp.
Beautiful!
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:45AM
Well yeah man, you have to remember that you are not the only one that plays videogames, that's why games like Cooking Mama,Gears of War and Empire:total war all sell pretty well they are different kind of gamers with different tastes.
And kids Loooooooooooooooooooove sonic and SEGA knows this so that's their target not us. ( of course I still enjoy the games).
Cosmo (formerly Chin-Poh) @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:46AM
Damn, I had no idea. I had really thought that only us kids from the 80s and 90s had cared about Sonic and most interest in the franchise had waned down, none of the current kids really care about it, etc. But I'm sadly not a kid anymore so what would I know?
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:59AM
Well of course, most people grew and move on, there's people like me but I'm the minority, they are the other extreme though those Sonic fans that like him a little too much and too old for that to be cute.
That's just like me going to watch the proposal I might enjoy it but not as much as my girlfriend will for example.
Sly @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:49AM
cosmo, it was John Z who made it.
Cosmo (formerly Chin-Poh) @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:31AM
I wuv you John Z. : )
squeehunter @ Jun 23rd 2009 4:35PM
Can we try him in court as an adult now for crimes against videogames for the next Sonic game that comes out?
Cbas92 @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:07AM
They grow up so fast T_T
But perhaps its time to retire
Dr. @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:06AM
That's right, French Canadians, you're joke material!
SicTransit2 @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:12AM
do not want.
Uncontrol @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:15AM
hopefully it's his last
Untouchable4rc @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:15AM
And so it began...the Sonic Hentai revolution
mezzanine @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:16AM
Yeah I hate hentai but the very first thought when I saw the headline was "oh so he's legal now"
Uncontrol @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:23AM
optimistic of you to think it's just beginning now
Nap @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:40AM
You haven't been around the internet very long have you?
Whatever you do, don't google Rule 34 on Sonic.. you might not make it back alive
Untouchable4rc @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:20AM
I know rule 34...and as long as I live I will never type Sonic and Rule 34 in a search engine ever
Sly @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:25AM

Blank-Mage @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:13AM
Back when Sonic: The Dark Brotherhood came out, I heard a joke about Shade: "They've got a new Sonic character! I MUST! DRAW! PORN OF IT!"
Mr Khan @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:24PM
Doesn't need to be 18 to have hentai o_o
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:16AM
I don't care about the swag since I have Unleashed and Rush so I'm set for now.
Sonic Unleashed 2 please....
ANNOUNCED ALREADY!!! GODDAMMIT!!
Nap @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:41AM
You actually enjoyed that game?
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:46AM
Well considering I bough a 360 and a new HDTV just to play the game I'll take that as a yes.
Tiptup300 @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:57AM
I hate you.
SicTransit2 @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:00AM
you really bought a new tv and 360 just to play that pile of crap?
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:03AM
Yes like I have being doing with all my Consoles so far.
Dreamcast=Sonic Adventure.
Nintendo DSlite=Sonic Rush.
Xbox 360= Sonic Unleashed.
Sonic is pretty much the only reason I'm still into gaming, but you can hate it if you want, won't make me enjoy the game any less.
Nap @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:05AM
What exactly did you like about that game? The uncontrollable Sonic parts or the insanely boring stretchy arm beat-em up parts
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:12AM
If you play the game you know Sonic is far from uncontrollable, or either you playing it wrong.
But it's a love it or hate it kind of game, I love it, you hate it and that's the end of story.
Zerokku @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:35AM
I have to agree. The Sonic day stages were a blast to race through, and the game was worth playing for that alone. Never felt too fast or unwieldly. The werehog stages were meh, but no worse then playing some Lego game in terms of the beat-em-up style.
Blank-Mage @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:11AM
Well, Sonic Rush was the second game I purchased for my DS (the first being Elite Beat Agents), and I'm glad I did, really. Blaze is the first interesting character Sonic's had since the Dreamcast days. I want to say he's dead to me, but I know I'd be lying. Now, who wants a game about Tails? 'Cause that would get my attention.
*Goes back to making a flash fan fiction.*
Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:20AM
meh
WINterfang @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:24AM
Sonic Unleashed was a great step SEGA but we need more than just step, Mario helped Sonic crawl out of his dead hole and Unleashed took care of him, he can walk again, now show us he can RUN.
yayoyayo @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:01AM
i think sonic still has a long way to go to "walk" again.
IvanP91 @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:29AM
hes finally gonna get some action. Legally this time
[tre] @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:30AM
I'll pass. I already have a Sonic shirt. My 6 year old brother, on the other hand, would be on this like ugly on a gorilla if he was old enough.
Blank-Mage @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:14AM
Gorillas are beautiful creatures, Tre.
Nap @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:36AM
Charles Hamilton would be proud, if he was still alive
SoxFan13 @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:38AM
Hey Ludwig, Sonic's finally legal, if you know what I mean... What are the laws of South Africa regarding Hedgehog lovin'?
Rhamsey @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:47AM
I know i have posted it here every time they are mentioned, but i am fucking tired of this twitter and facebook crap.
Rhamsey @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:51AM
Wait, if sonic is just turning 18, does that the multiple rapes that sega has done to him have also been statutory? Now im not only pissed off for the warehog, but that sonic wasnt even of legal age to realize that it was a terrible mistake, and he was being used.
shredhead @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:53AM
I really couldn't care for any of that stuff. I love Sonic (he kicks Mario's ass any day), but most Sonic (and Sega in general) games have sucked ever since Sega went third party. The last good Sonic game was Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast in 2001.
Uncontrol @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:22AM
sonic adventure 2 wasn't good
Blank-Mage @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:16AM
It was passable, and after playing Sonic and the Secret Rings, I would f***ing LOVE passable.
therpham @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:55AM
Man, really? I remember when Sonic turned 10 and they released that special edition of Sonic Adventure 2 with the soundtrack compilation CD and the "10 Years of Sonic" sticker that is still on my Dreamcast to this day. The time, she is flying.
Cosmo (formerly Chin-Poh) @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:58AM
And the Dreamcast's 10th anniversary North American launch isn't far away, its on September 9th, wonder if anyone will celebrate.
