Tony Hawk Ride board to be used for 'many games'

"It's really important to us that when people buy this package that they understand that, right now we're concentrating on Tony Hawk Ride, but we want to make sure that people have a good return on their investment so there are many games that are planned for this peripheral," Tsui said.
Discussing potential followup games to use the board, Tsui said, "The obvious ones are snowboarding and surfing and such, but there are a lot of games that can be used with this board, and we're really excited to start working on those."
Of course, the real followup games will be called Tony Hawk's Ride 2, Tony Hawk's Ride 3, and Tony Hawk's Ride 4, and each one will have an optional bundle that includes a new board with just enough upgrades to tempt people into repeat purchases. Because, you know, Activision.

I'll consider it when they make a game in which you repeatedly bash people that piss you off over the head with a skateboard.
MystileArmor @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:55PM
Kotick as final boss confirmed?
Sayed @ Jun 22nd 2009 8:44PM
"gamers concerned about blowing a bunch of money on the package should see it as an investment"
What kind of investment can you get with this piece of plastic, talk about bull sh*t. Besides playing games that are based on boards( skate, surf, boogie, chalk) its pretty difficult thinking of other uses for this "device"
Love your game idea Reaper man, i would buy it :)
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:23PM
It would be so nice to wake up tomorrow to news that Activision was forced to shut down because people woke up and stopped buying their games.
LordToastington @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:26PM
Also, Black Isle is back with a new Baldur's Gate, and the governent has put a ban on bald space marines.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:29PM
....wat?
Storm Eagle @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:30PM

Petebot330 @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:55PM
eh, you could make your shepard have hair...couldn't you?
WINterfang @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:24PM
I'm a little scared about this board, it seems like you can really fall off and it will destroy your TV's, I rather have the Natal thingy.
NaeemTHM @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:38PM
Yeah I definitely see a lot of lawsuits in the future. I mean if people can barely hold on to their Wii-motes, there's no WAY they'll stay on a 10-inch wide skate board.
WINterfang @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:46PM
Unless it comes with a strap to both of your feet, so you can fall and the skateboard won't fly off.
Still if the board isn't sturdy enough a lot of them will break.
MystileArmor @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:46PM
Yeah but people will be kicking their coffee tables through the living room with Natal. It's inevitable.
cuteSAVAGE @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:58PM
Strap it to your feet? Naw... You'll have to bolt straps into the ceiling and wear a harness.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:25PM
They should also worn consumers not to purchase initial shipments of the game. Because you know, Activision.
NitroMikeo @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:27PM
Tony Hawks... Skate... Nah I'm spent.
Mr Khan @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:27PM
The problem is that the device is futile. Too expensive and inconvenient for PS360 owners, and redundant for Wii owners (aside from also being too damn expensive there, too)
Natal will make it even more redundant
uncle jesse @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:42PM
Well said. +1
Adam Owen @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:28PM
I love the policy of adding some plastic doo-hicky so that people buy more expensive stuff than usual. It may have worked the first time as an unseen novelty, speaking as a great fan of guitar hero/rock band, but this looks like it's going too far.
Besides, I remember getting a skateboard add-on for the PS2, and used the same kind of technology. I remember it being absolute rubbish. That's probably why I I'm not so confident about this.
Ice9 @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:28PM
Except Microsoft made it obsolete with Natal before it had even launched..
NaeemTHM @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:33PM
It was pretty hilarious to watch Tony come out with that board then a few minutes later see Microsoft basically say "Alright and now here's this awesome device that makes Tony Hawk Ride obsolete".
Then again, at least people can buy Ride sometime soon. Lord know when Natal will launch.

Dirty @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:31PM
Suck it Kotick, Im not buying anything from them until they can that a-hole. Besides Star Craft 2...... and Modern warfare 2...... No one move or the Bandicoot gets it.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:36PM
Come now Dirty, I think the Bandicoot's been through enough....
NaeemTHM @ Jun 22nd 2009 1:44PM
If it was possible I would write checks directly made out to the developers of Modern Warfare 2.
I'm seriously torn on how the hell I'm going to get my hands on MW2 and SC2 with out giving Activision a cent.
OnToGloryReturns @ Jun 22nd 2009 3:00PM
@NaeemTHM - I feel you
Lionbacker steamID: detfan1957 @ Jun 22nd 2009 3:22PM
