Maybe the board will be used for a whole new skateboarding mechanic, or even extended to fighting games like a next-gen "Streets of Rage" where you beat up your opponents pretending the skateboard is a melee weapon.

The skateboard will include the obligatory wrist-strap so that it end up careening into the LCD or plasma t.v. unit...

All joking aside, this has to rank as one of the most excessive, stupidest ideas to come out of a video game company's marketing department in recent memory.

"Of course, the real followup games will be called Tony Hawk's Ride 2, Tony Hawk's Ride 3, and Tony Hawk's Ride 4, and each one will have an optional bundle that includes a new board with just enough upgrades to tempt people into repeat purchases. Because, you know, Activision"

For $120 they should include both snowboarding and surfing demos.

Former skater (15 years) turned Army Ranger turned Gamer here. The middle one has nothing to do with anything but the timeline wouldn't of been complete.

First to people saying this board is going to break something, I doubt it. With no trucks and wheels, it's going to be hard as hell to get any decent air on it and with no grip tape it's not like it's going to be easy to flick off the ground.

That said: Had Skate not come out, I would probably buy it. Just because I'm still a skater at heart and love my skating games. Skate 1 /2 however are so amazing at nailing the feel of skating and overall enjoyment (just skating and getting creative) that I have no desire to ever go back to a TH game. As a skater I have a ton of respect for Tony Hawk, I just wish he would of gone in another direction.

When I game, I want to relax. I want to kick my feet up and play with a controller. I would be open to it if the pay off was worth it but from all the gameplay vids I've seen it doesn't look like anything more than the same level of fun of Wii Sports w/o the motion plus. There's no free roaming from what I've read. Just set lines. That doesn't sound fun at all.

I feel for Tony Hawk but I don't feel bad at for Craptivision.

Kotick could stick his expensive plastic peripherals up his butt hole. I'm not buying anything from Activision unless he leaves the company.

Does that mean sequels of the Tony Hawk games or does it mean other games entirely because somehow I don't think that using a skateboard to play Guitar Hero is gonna work.......
