According to Chart Track's UK software sales figures from last week, we know the Barry Pepper-voiced free-roamer, Prototype, has managed to secure the top spot. It wasn't an easy battle, as Radical Entertainment's title had some stiff competition in Terminal Reality's Ghostbusters, which made its debut in the UK last week.
The ghost bustin' reunion was not enough to topple the "go anywhere, kill everything" game, and managed to secure the bronze with a third place showing. It should be noted that this is the all-format charts, and with it being a PS3 exclusive in the territory (Xbox 360 owners do have options, though), third is pretty impressive for a game on just one platform (excluding Wii Fit). As for second place, The Sims 3 dropped down from its cushy throne last week thanks to a 49% decline in sales. Don't feel too bad for the game, though -- it did have the best PC launch in EA's history, you know.

How does Infamous end? I've been distracted by Sacred 2 and am not sure when I'll get back to Infamous. I can live with the spoiler.

I'd lent Infamous to my mate and was around just as he was finishing it, as soon as the final cut scene finished he turned around to me with :O on his face. Ending was awesome, so looking forward to Infamous 2.
@Jack Tretton Surely you know how your spring AAA title end's? In case you've forgotten it the plot is on Wikipedia, just so folk's here don't get pissed off accidentally reading it, though you need to finish it yourself for the full impact.

Because you deserve to be downvoted. What you wrote, to me, IS trolling. You can't state your opinion just like that. At least give a clear, justified reason for your hatred for the game. Otherwise, the only thing you'll get from me (and hopefully other people) is -1

kinda surprised how prototype sold better on 360 than infamous did on ps3 (first week sales). considering there is much more competition when prototype released.

I'm astonished at just how much fun I'm having with Prototype despite all it's flaws.
It's not the prettiest game, the story is a bit bland, the characters a bit wooden, the controls can be a tad overwhelming at times, but damn it this is hands down the most FUN I've had playing a video game all year.
And that my friends is what playing video games is all about: FUN.

this is somewhat of a tangent, but that's why i don't get it when people put down Michael Bay and his movies. sure, Transformers didn't have the best characters or plot, but it was entertaining as hell. it's true for just about anything in life: as long as you're having fun, nothing else mattters.

I finished Prototype last week, it was a decent game. Some of the control was a little questionable, I often found myself yelling at the TV beacuse the character decided to do something over than what I was trying to do.
Also the graphics seemed a little underwhelming.
If you like the free roaming gameplay of Hulk, or spiderman, you'll probably like this. Prototype was actually a bit more focused than those 2.

The biggest problem I had with this game was the combat. It always consisted of getting in a few hits and then running away until its safe to come back again. For being so all powerful by end game you certainly felt more like a backstabber than a bad ass.

As for the Sims 3. 49% decline? They need to patch that shit quick.

I'm enjoying inFamous. Not sure how far through it I am. But I just beat the main Prototype storyline on Friday. I couldn't put it down. So that's, what? A week and a half? Even though I like inFamous, I honestly haven't picked it up in about 6 days.

I couldn't put inFamous down for 4 days. Spent most of my time playing it.
Finished it good and bad. I thought the ending was kinda dumb.

I think you can say that for just about any video game if you talk to the right person. I own collectively, between my 360, Wii, and PS3, about 60-70 games. With the exception of maybe 5 titles, I honestly probably could've gone without playing the other 65 or so completely. I bought them for the instant bursts of enjoyment they would offer me, or just to kill some time when I was bored. A game like Uncharted or Mass Effect are definitely on my list of games that gave me that "wow" factor. Others? Not so much. And eventually, every game reaches it's "meh" point.

I'd agree with that-I'm waiting for Halo Wars to be 35 or so. It underwhelmed. Out of my 15 or so PS3 games, Killzone 2 is the only one I've paid full price for (Still recovering from Circuit City's liquidation sale, that nearly killed my game budget for the entire year.). Roughly the same for my 360. The best deals I've gotten this gen were Halo 3 Legendary Edition for 45, Mass Effect for 15 (well before Greatest Hits) and The Eye of Judgment for 20. All brand new. But you should always wait unless its a must have AAA title. Still, inFamous for 50 on Amazon tempts me...

I found prototype a LOT of fun. Sure its not as good as infamous, but i'd rate Prototype about an 8/10. a very solid and fun game. Its deeper than most people think. At first i thought "BAH! Infamous will pwn it!", but then i tried Prototype. Its really, really fun. I rented it, but i might buy it, if its cheap enough.

The common reaction seems to be:
If you play Prototype first you will find it a great deal of fun
If you play inFamous first you just cant tolerate Prototype
Prototype = Hulk with better graphics
inFamous = better graphics, controls, story, interesting karma system and one of the best plot surprises in videogames, imho its in the same class as the one in KOTOR
So if someone likes this kind of games, good idea to finish Prototype first, enjoy that game and then move on to inFamous. Otherwise its like playing Dark sector or Gears after playing Uncharted (if you own a PS3 and havent played it, yes, its that good)

I haven't played inFamous, but the dudes at Rebel FM claim that the plot twist is by far one of the worse plot twist in history.
I find that hard to believe having played Bionic Commando.

Well, havent played prototype but I guess its charm is that its not as complicated as most modern videogames, stress reliever is the right word for it - I would consider Resistance 2 coop as the same categopry, its not competitive and you can generally rely on your squadmates take care of your back, so quite a relaxed, fun experience

Have to disagree w/you on the Gears comment - and this is coming from a huge Uncharted fan.
Uncharted's gunplay is taken straight from gears - right down to the cover to cover spin.
Having said that the two are completely different feeling games - Gears is a much more visceral, dark experience while Uncharted obviously has vastly different pacing due to the platforming. Just played the beta for Uncharted 2 and it's very good and very Gears like.
Nothing wrong with that but I don't see Gears being any less of a great gaming experience because I played Uncharted.

And that doesn't stop Uncharted from being beautiful, charming and engaging, as well as having a fluid and awesome combat system.
Uncharted and Gears are both great but have very little to compare besides cover systems. Wait, weren't we talking about Prototype?

I played inFamous through two times (also platinumed it) and I'm ready to play Prototype, I'm just not going to pay full price for Prototype as the reviews aren't good enough on it.
I'd be surprised if my inFamous experience meant I didn't enjoy Prototype. I played Ico right after inFamous and it didn't make the think inFamous was any worse.

@Enrique
I am well aware of Kill.Switch and I never said Gears invented the cover system - but it certainly defined it for this gen. Kill.Switch was also much more run and gun and the cover to cover roll is taken directly from Gears (or at the very least Gears did it first)
I replied because you implied strongly that Gears is a lesser experience compared to Uncharted and I couldn't disagree more - and again I am a huge Uncharted fan (look at my post history for proof of that).
They're both awesome - and as I stated before - very different experiences.

As much as I wanted to love Ghostbusters, the constant gangbanging by the haunted light fixtures in the hotel put me off the game and I mailed it back to GameFly; I didn't even catch the boat captain. Okay, sure, the sea cucumbers and shit growing in the hallways was pretty cool, but I couldn't shake the feeling the whole experience up 'til then didn't 'feel' like Ghostbusters, y'know? I didn't even get to see Winston. :(

Jack,
Ummm. what game were you playing? Didn't feel like Ghostbustesr? How does it not feel like Ghostbusters, The Sedgewick hotel, fire house are created ver batum. Did you talk to the Vego Painting?!!!! I'm about 7/10's through the game now. The gameplay is starting to get tiresome, but it's much deeper than I expected, some excellant set pieces. I've had a huge shit eatin grin plastered on my face while playing it for the majority of the time. And you returned it after an hour? Couldn't catch the boat captain?!!! Unless you had that shit set on Ninja Gaiden 2 level hard, I can't imagine anyone having problems with the difficulty unless they've never played a videogame before in their life.
