According to Chart Track's UK software sales figures from last week, we know the Barry Pepper-voiced free-roamer, Prototype, has managed to secure the top spot. It wasn't an easy battle, as Radical Entertainment's title had some stiff competition in Terminal Reality's Ghostbusters, which made its debut in the UK last week.
The ghost bustin' reunion was not enough to topple the "go anywhere, kill everything" game, and managed to secure the bronze with a third place showing. It should be noted that this is the all-format charts, and with it being a PS3 exclusive in the territory (Xbox 360 owners do have options, though), third is pretty impressive for a game on just one platform (excluding Wii Fit). As for second place, The Sims 3 dropped down from its cushy throne last week thanks to a 49% decline in sales. Don't feel too bad for the game, though -- it did have the best PC launch in EA's history, you know.

@Indie -
I like the game but I found the AI really cheap at times - you get swarmed while your partner constantly goes down. Backed it down to casual and it's fine - and it's not like I haven't gotten 100% on expert in the Metroid Prime games.
I still really like the game, the atmosphere and fan service are terrific and I actually find the multiplayer feels more like Ghostbusting than the single player. Mostly due to the cooperation required as it gets harder - the single player screams for co-op.
@Jack - give it another shot if you can. There's actually quite a bit to it w/the scanning and pack upgrades. Controls take a bit to get your head around but once you understand what the game wants you to do it's a lot of fun - again, especially in multi.

I hate angel statues that have to be smashed against fences, while everyone on the otherside of the fence do nothing to help. Fuck you Ray and Sandworm Elizabeth Green!!! Good games though.

I purchased Infamous and Prototype (by release date) and while Infamous is a solid title not only did I find Prototype better I found Infamous to be pretty overrated. Both games rock and if anything it's a wash, they just take radically different approaches to the shared goal of a superhero sandbox game.
The best thing about Infamous for me was the twist ending, really good. However, the story of Prototype is no pushover either. A virus created to wipe out certain ethnic groups that back fires...that's a pretty edgy subject, not only that but when you find out who Alex is then it really makes sense. I think allot of the Prototype hate is more fan boy based than anything else. Allot of the complaints of Infamous simply get overlooked by many and the lack of any type of honest on certain sites and podcasts (1up I'm looking at you) isn't cool.
Both games have issues to be sure but in the end, it's preference. If you can get both get both. I know for me I finished Infamous, had a great time haven't played it since. Finished Prototype and can't stop playing it. It is possible you guys that they can gasp, both be great games!
Read this from Destructoid, while funny (and not all serious) he makes some really good points about Infamous:

Yeah, I see. Prototype is better because the head of Sucker Punch is a racist? And inFamous is ghey? Because FFXIII is coming to 360? Because the comic book has a guy getting his dick sliced off?
That's a great article there. The only ones with much validity are the thing about enemy variety and upgrades. And they aren't completely accurate, some of the upgrades in inFamous are pretty good, especially on the evil side. For example the stomp attack is useless when you're good because you hit civilians (as pointed out in the article), but as evil, you don't give a shit, so have at it.
Kinda funny you say they are both great games and then link to a childish article which slams one of them.

Everyone is raving about inFamous' ending ... but just having an awesome twist ending doesn't make inFamous better. I found the missions in inFamous utterly boring. The side missions are more cookie cutter than Assassin's Creed. And the main story, WTF is the deal with having the same kind of mission (get the power grid online) to gain powers, how about mixing things up a little.
To the people who say graphically inFamous > Prototype, it is, but it lacks the speed of Prototype. Since in inFamous, the player travels slower than Prototype, less of the world needs to be streamed in, therefore you can user higher res textures for every structure.
The thing that I didn't like about prototype is the length of the missions is out of control, and yes there is a lot of running away and coming to fight back later. But I did the same thing in inFamous too.
I liked inFamous, i was impressed by it ...... but I loved prototype.
If infamous is an assault rifle, Prototype is rocket launcher

I don't agree the missions are more cookie cutter in inFamous than in Assassin's Creed. In Assassin's Creed there are something like 4 types of missions to do and each section of each city has one of each of them. In inFamous there are more like 10 types of missions to do, probably 15 if you count both the good and the evil types (most people would not usually see both types in a single game though).
The player moves more rapidly in Prototype than InFamous? I mean on the ground I can see that, but you're saying that compared to the railroad slides and wires Prototype is still faster moving?

probably alex mercer moves ridiculously fast especially once you upgrade his run and air dash to max.
at that point he runs so fast that literally chunks of the ground fly off his feet.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that the infamous ending sucked. Easiest way to pull a twist... worse than Sixth Sense movie
