XBLM Deal of the Week: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
In what will assuredly be the longest headline for any Xbox Live Deal of the Week post we'll ever run, Microsoft's offering a $5 reduction in price (from 1200
to 800
) on Capcom's Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix this week.
That's right, folks -- you're reading this correctly. We're on the second week straight that the Xbox Live Deal of the Week was something worthwhile and not, say, DLC from a three year old game or, erm, DLC from a two year old game. We're not quite sure that the big M and Xbox Live are giving Steam a run for its money with deals quite yet, but we are plopping down our virtual bucks that much more frequently on the service as of late. Here's hoping that we'll keep seeing tasty deals like this rather than some of the ... ahem ... less than savory items we've seen in the past.

Longest headline ever, eh? Just imagine if you didn't use acronyms...
XBox Live Marketplace Deal of the Week: Super Street Fighter Two Turbo High-Definition Remix
Also, I paid full price for it on the PS Store. Well worth it. It's sooo perty.

But what does the X stand for? =P

I'm not buying any game online because it gives Microsoft and Sony more incentive to move toward digital distribution and make disc games obsolete. If that happens then us gamers get shafted because we wouldn't be able to trade games or resell them on ebay. And it also guarantees ISP's placing bandwidth caps. Don't know about you guys but when I buy something I don't want Microsoft or Sony limiting my options on a property I own.

Whew, I'm glad i quit waffling and got Operation Anchorage last night since I guess the price has gone back up to $10 today.
Petebot330 @ Jun 22nd 2009 5:21PM
Yeah I bought it too. I kind of winced, because as soon as I “confirmed download” I realized I now have a goofy number of MS points. Those bastards.
Boff @ Jun 23rd 2009 5:16AM
Noooooo don't say that, I was going to get it tomorrow.
Can anyone confirm one way or another??
I'm off to Xbox.com to check...
Boff @ Jun 23rd 2009 5:19AM
It's 800.
FUCK!
Latin_Trident @ Jun 22nd 2009 3:58PM
Finally we got a real deal of the week. Thank you Major Nelson!!!
Rocko @ Jun 22nd 2009 3:59PM
off topic: bought my first XBLM arcade game ever this week and am totally hooked to Magic: The Gathering
vidGuy @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:10PM
It's pretty good. The lack of any real deck-building hurts it tremendously, but the game mechanics are well done. I'm enjoying it quite a bit for $10.
AoE @ Jun 22nd 2009 9:04PM
One of the best ways to spend $10 on XBLA. vidGuy's right about the lack of deck customization truly sucking... but for $10 I don't feel too bad about it, what's there is very solid (the decks... even after you've unlocked everything are still not so great however)

What happened to Marvel vs. Capcom 2? When is it coming out?
acefondu @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:11PM
End of July.
NinjaJesus @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:14PM
Supposedly July 29th.
pixelate @ Jun 22nd 2009 6:04PM
If I didn't know MVC2 was on the horizon I'd jump on this deal... oh well
Stix Remix @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:04PM
I find it interesting how all the shadows in the background move to the left, but the shadows of the two fighters move to the right.
Vcize @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:06PM
Obviously there are 2 suns in street fighter land.
iSwarm @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:05PM
$10!? That is still to much make it $5 and you have yourself a deal!
Prox @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:09PM
You hush or else it's back to stale game content and soon-to-be-further-discounted maps for us.
Vcize @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:06PM
Now if only I could pay 10 bucks to get this game's lobby system into SF4.

I do not use steam because my laptop cannot handle games too well, but I would say that XBL would do even better if they would just use standard currency, rather than the silly points system. Either that, or sell you the amount of points you need, rather than just enough for you to have insufficient points left over to make another purchase, i.e. forced into buying 1000 points in order to buy a 800 point game.
NinjaJesus @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:45PM
lol but then they couldn't scam us out of money...and the world would explode.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:18PM
Yeah! Duh....
SunKing @ Jun 22nd 2009 5:02PM
This way they can get you to buy in-store cards. It also has a psychological effect where you can never really be sure of the real-world value of an item; it's a way of making you forget you're spending actual money.
Dr. Stabbingworth @ Jun 22nd 2009 6:11PM
It works out if you buy the point cards for less than face value, which you can find if you look hard enough.
pibs @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:21PM
I got 1650 msp, it sucks because I could never get rid of those damn 50...
Vlad01 @ Jun 22nd 2009 4:29PM
Good deal I guess.
crookshow @ Jun 22nd 2009 5:07PM
I felt this game was a great value when I bought it last year for $15, but then SFIV changed everything and I haven't touched it since. Not sure if it's worth the $10 now unless you're a diehard Super Turbo fan. If not, you might want to save that money for Marvel instead.
AoE @ Jun 22nd 2009 9:06PM
A true Capcom/fighting game fan would have them all, as each game brings something different to the table. :)
Bobn01 @ Jun 22nd 2009 5:11PM
Uh I'm sorry but whats the girl doing to the guy sitting on top of the cage?
joeybeast @ Jun 22nd 2009 5:25PM
Well, when a man and a woman are in love...

I'm keeping my points for the Turtles: Reshelled game. Hope it's worth it.
