OMG: Shia LaBeouf totally 'not into' the Wii
During an interview with Big Download last week, the young side of beef Shia LaBeouf (see what we did there?) took time from his busy career playing Indiana Jones' son to troll the Nintendo Wii as hard (and unnecessarily) as so many Joystiq comments we've read in the past. "I don't mess with the Wii, to be honest with you ... It's kind of an amateur console ... I'm not into the Wii thing," he told BD, when asked about the Wii version of upcoming movie tie-in game, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Truth be told, the actor tries to disassociate himself with those who own Wii consoles, continuing, "This is how in a simple way you can find out if it's a gamer you want to play with: Ask them if they have a Wii -- if they say yes, get the f*** out of there." Harsh words, Mr. LaBeouf! While we're inclined to start flapping our gums about the actor's films being defilements of our childhoods and how they placate to a more mainstream crowd -- like a certain console he feels so vehemently about -- we'll just hold our tongues on that. This time, LaBeouf. This time.

I had a good feeling about this one, I send Joystiq this news. ( don't know if they got it from me though)
BigFat @ Jun 23rd 2009 2:29AM
its kind of funny, because there is nothing we can technically say about the wii, every time we try to say something about the wii we get sales numbers thrown in are faces.
and nothing can beats cold hard sales data.
SimbaDogg @ Jun 23rd 2009 3:01AM
@big fat...
there's nothing really too remarkable about it if you ask me. i mean compared to what the ps3 and 360 do...the wii is just a different beast. i mean, the the two next gen consoles are basically built like high performance machines, but when you look at the wii...its not made like that, its made to be the "console for the people" (dont sue me volkswagen)
so of course you're gonna sell more of a console thats designed for EVERYONE than a enthusiasts dream machine. i mean wii is still getting snagged up by people in old folks homes, and stay @ home moms that insist doing wii fit is a much better alternative to getting outta the house and walking for 30 min a day.
and then on the side note, you'll have people who will say that the wii is ALSO a hardcore gamers machine because it has games like super smash bros, zelda, metroid 3, mario galaxy etc...but as fun as they are (which they are, dont get me wrong) its very aged IP to me. that it something that nintendo has lacked for quite some time...i mean, flame me if you will...but many of their top rated games on metacritic are the same perennial franchises that we've seen for the last 20 years. compare this to the games which have received scores of 85+ on the ps360 and you see an assortment of new and old IPs, as well as the same updates of classic franchises (last years mgs4 or the new street fighters being classic examples of classics)
oh yeah...and did i mention the world renowned wii shovel ware...i mean comparing the 61 85+ scores on 360 to the 47 on ps3...and the very small sampling of 22 on wii (and yes...i'm still bothering to include the many rockbands and all the damn guitar heros...if i didn't, it'd be much worse) so that doesn't help its image much either...
so yeah, i can understand where the shia guy is coming from, its not exactly the most diplomatic way of saying it...but i'm the same way. when it comes to wii...it just aint my cup of tea. i'd rather have a console that has a huge catalog of new and exciting games, graphically intense games, fun games (which the wii has plenty of) and the same rehashed classics and yearly released games (madden, tiger woods golf etc).
LilTmac2003 @ Jun 23rd 2009 3:23AM
I think he said that b/c Megan Fox wouldn't play around with his Wii.
JayFight @ Jun 23rd 2009 6:34AM
personally i own a wii but i also have a ps3(i used to have one that plays ps1 &2 games) a 360 a psp a ds and a laptop computer i had a desktop comp but it won't even stay on now and i intend to get a ps2 so i can play all of my old ps1&2 games so if shea does judge people on weither he would play with them or not on if they owned a wii then he would judge me wrong because i may not be one of those 'hardcore' gamers but i see myself as something more or less a 'true' gamer because i am not afraid to try new things or to continue playing a game even if the rest of the world thinks it's lame(that is if i liked it)
Young_Nastyman @ Jun 23rd 2009 9:03AM

Personally, I felt more offended that he thinks I'm not a gamer because I own a Wii. Pick your game, boy. Pick your game.
As long as it's not an FPS, I'll come out on top.

well i think we just found out who tmac is in real life... :)
oh well, i don't care. shia lebeouf will always be louis stevens the prankster to me. nothing he does (short of child molestation and mass murder) would ever change that.
SEVENim @ Jun 23rd 2009 2:24AM
actually, tmac replied to one of my posts earlier today saying it was part of an act he was doing for some college research thing and hes done with it now. so i guess we'll have to see if that truth holds up.

It's true, I don't really hate the Wii. Don't celebrate yet, cuase I don't love it either. An easy way for me to describe my real feelings for Nintendo is using Infamous' karma system. My opinions on Nintendo are neutral right now, but it's leaning closer to negative than positive.
They need to start doing some good things to boost the opinion meter up :)
TwEE @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:18AM
I don't think anybody is going to buy that online psychological study crap Tmac.. hordes of trolls have fallen back on that excuse countless times when the sites they haunt instantly dismiss anything they say as garbage.
But hey, if ya need to save face and it gets you to calm down I'll pretend I buy it, and I'm sure others will too.
Cody @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:40AM
TwEE,
Excellent points. Except for the "I'll buy it" part at the end.
That went on far too long for a damn research paper lol
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:48AM
Well writing near 100 pages isn't exaclty something you get done in a month or two. I knew it was something I had to get done and when you're in your final year they tell you that you have to do it and give you whatever time you have left until you graduate to get it done (actually, it's a bit before the graduation date obviously). I actually flunked a class on purpose so it would give me another term to get the paper done.
I couldn't really care less who believes me or not, as I'm not trying to make friends or peace with the douch-ier nintendo fanboys like you two. I'm just lettin you all know what went on, and people can do what they want with it.
Rob @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:02PM
@Tmac
You magnificent bastard, I salute you.
TwEE @ Jun 23rd 2009 2:23PM
So your saying you're not really an pompous idiot? It was all an act?
And that you killjebus, and sprinkles ride around in a van solving mysteries?
Jrinswand @ Jun 23rd 2009 3:00PM
@TwEE - I see no reason for you not to believe him.
I'm also working on a ridiculously long Honors Thesis about video games, although I'm taking mine in a completely different direction than Tmac. Mine is about ludology, the industry, and some of the fundamental flaws (from a game design/psychological/narrative perspective) with some of today's most popular video games.
Anyways, my point is that if it is taking me a year to write my video games paper, it could very well have taken Tmac a year for him to write his own video game paper.

I've never been a fan of Shia LaBeouf. He's actually quite talented and has been in some good movies, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a pompous jackass. I couldn't care any less whether he had something good or bad to say about the Wii or any other console.
WiredKnight @ Jun 23rd 2009 4:00AM
"I don't mess with his movies, to be honest with you ... he's kind of an amateur actor..."
"This is how in a simple way you can find out if it's a movie you want to see: Ask if Shia LeBeouf is in it -- if yes, get the f*** out of there."
tordre @ Jun 23rd 2009 9:50AM
Another thing about Shia LaBeouf. The only role in which he wasn't a side kick was as Lewis Steven.
In Constantine sidekick to Keanu Reeves
In I, Robot sidekick to Will Smith
In Indiana Jones sidekick to Indiana Jones
In Disturbia sidekick to the house.
In Holes sidekick to a pair of sneakers.
Transformers.... of course he is the sidekick to optimus prime.
bongoes @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:15AM
You mean the only role he was GOOD in was Louis Stevens.
And it's spelled Louis.
benjamines @ Jun 23rd 2009 7:20PM
@WiredKnight: LOL! This is the best post I've read all day.
Alex McKee @ Jun 23rd 2009 2:10AM
But Shia, with your youthful charm and sharp wit, I pegged you to be a Nintendo kind of guy. Oh well. He's come a long way from Even Stevens, hasn't he?
Sly @ Jun 23rd 2009 2:43AM
i miss even stevens way too much. if i could bring back a single show, it would be that one.

lawl, I like how the names are on top of the wrong person.
Skaz @ Jun 23rd 2009 3:07AM
I've always noticed that on dvd covers. Is it some sort of taboo in hollywood to have the star's name directly above the character they're playing on the cover?
Robert @ Jun 23rd 2009 3:57AM
haha i always see that and wonder wtf? isn't it the logical thing to put the name above the face? haa I guess not.
