I'm not buying this or any game online because it gives Microsoft and Sony more incentive to move toward digital distribution and make disc games obsolete. If that happens then us gamers get shafted because we wouldn't be able to trade games or resell them on ebay. Don't know about you guys but when I buy something I don't want Microsoft or Sony limiting my options on a property I own.

$1000000 in two weeks. How that's split between Sony and Square, I have no idea. But if that doesn't fund further releases, Square Enix is more retarded than I have thus far given them credit for.

The split is 43/52/5 with the cash going to Sony/Square/Jack Tretton's Favorite Charity respectively. Don't ask me how I know this.

Oh and none of this DS or "OH WE ADDED CUTSCENES" crap.

FFVI does not need to be remade. Re-release, fine, but otherwise leave it alone!

You don't want to see the world break apart in glorious HD? You don't want to listen to the Opera scene in 5.1, no!, 7.1 surround sound? You don't want one of the greatest epics of our day to be again displayed in all of it's heartbreaking beauty? With all of its bleak desolation? Well, I'll say "Good day" to you, sir.

I'm torn. One one hand VI is my favorite in the series, I would love to see it in glorious 3d, and there are definitely parts of the plot that could be fleshed out a little bit.

On the other hand, after seeing what's been done to VII the past couple years, I'm not sure I want squeenix touching the game with a 10 foot pole.

no kidding! they've ported it to the ps1, the gameboy advance, and even the ds. why not make a high-quality remake for the ps3?

the only reasons it's not more popular than ff7 is because it's 2d and has kinda crappy cutscenes (spoiler! nothing compared to dropping Aeris into the water)

why such the hesitation on making such easy money and improving the games?

@WINterfang
We can both be voted down, but it's fairly safe to say that if it ever does get remade, it'll be on the 360 as well. The games just require to much time and money to make these days, which is the whole reason they haven't done it yet.

SPOILER for FFVI and VII if it even needs to be said at this point...

My brother and I were talking about VI this weekend. Kefka is one of my favorite villains mainly because he didn't have any tormented back story or history. He was just dag nasty evil.

I mean Sephy was cool and all, ya know when stabbed and killed a defenseless, praying girl. But Kefka didn't try to destroy the world, he DID. And all of this he did while being dressed like a clown.

Truth be told I would be wary of them destroying the game in a remake, but if they're going to keep remaking crap then they should at least remake the best! (In my personal opinion naturally)

While I can see a FFVI remake, I can't see a FFVII remake. The reason why is there is so much goofy stuff that goes on in the game that it would look really awkward in today's graphics.

Examples include Cloud Cross Dressing, his snow board race to heal himself after Aeris's death, and Cloud's hot tub scene with around 10 scantily clad body builders.

all this talk of FFVI reminded me of the old tech demo made before VII.

http://lostlevels.org/200510/

still, if this is any indication... the VII PS3 tech demo is just what it's gonna be... a tech demo ;~;

If Dissidia is any indication, as awesome as it is, FFVI could NEVER be done justice in 3D. It's as close to perfect as it will ever be.

You could try and find the Final Fantasy Chronicles collections that were put out at the end of the PS1 age. As PS1 games, they should play on any model PS3.

no, no NO! Do NOT waste your money on the PS1 Final Fantasy re-release collections. Unless you prefer your flavor of random battles to be preceded by load times... EVERY time. Trust me, as great as FFVI is, it's a game breaker.

I'm pretty sure time and money isn't the problem. If they were short on cash they would have remade vii and then they would have no problem with money.

Guilty.

The announcement of FFVII on PSN was a huge deal for me at E3... people have been waiting for this announcement since forever, but it makes me wonder why Sony can announce FFVII for 10 bucks (available that same day) but somehow get ragged on for everything else they do.

I hope this will lead to Xenogears finally getting released on the US Store. I've always wanted to play it, but was never able to. The eBay prices are pretty high, so I'd definitely buy it for $9.99

I say Xenogears mostly because I know it's already been up on the Japan PSN Store for a good while now. I'd hope that the good sales from FFVII might nudge them into considering putting it over on the US Store now
