I'm with you, I love those as well. But for me personally FF7 is connected with very personal memories.

Planescape is a horrendous game, at least gameplay wise. All those old PC wrpgs have terrible combat, and I'm glad they've gotten much better in today's times with Mass Effect and Fallout 3.

A remake would be cool I guess, but only if it had interesting gameplay changes like Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes did. I feel like that game was immensely improved by adding some of the MGS2 features and everything else it did. If they are just going to remake this game to the letter with better graphics then what's the point?

Shouldn't we be looking to actually create new and exciting things in the future and not looking back and literally rehashing past titles just because we thought they were great? In cinema, they don't remake great films unless they think there was something that could have been done better. Citizen Kane, The Godfather, all the classics remain untouched because they were ALREADY awesome. Adding 2009-era special effects wouldn't do anything to improve them, and adding 2009-era graphics to FFVII wouldn't improve that either.

Are these numbers just from the US PSN alone? Or US & EU combined?

If that's just the US, this release will easily hit over 1/2 a million worldwide.

I can understand everyones viewpoints, but I agree with the majority, a remake would be cool, bring the series to a new audience, boost ps3 sales and will be really awesome.
This re-release got me really into this game so much, so Im glad this happeed but the remake would be even better. As for the maturity aspects and that, would be certainly different to see a FF game like that, and maybe cool in a way as i feel sometimes the ff's particulary a few of the later ones were too watered down.

I thought the "tech demo" was just for the PSP since it was used in Crisis Core all the way at the end of the game.

Nope, it was created just to see what that scene would look like using the PS3's graphical powers. It's not the first time that Square has done this, I believe they did it for PS and maybe the PS2 as well using different Final Fantasies. You can find them on YouTube.

Am I the only one thinks this sucks? They're charging for decade old content. Anybody who is paying for this that owns an original copy of FF7 is stupid. All they are doing is ripping a game they made 10 years ago and reselling it. I can understand those that never played it or own it, but for gawd sakes, this is what m33 is for... >.
