One way to look at Mass Effect Galaxy, the newly released iPhone game tie-in, is as an interactive DLC code ($4.99) for Mass Effect 2. AppGamer.net confirms that, upon completion, Galaxy displays the following message: "Your reward for completing the game is already waiting for you in Mass Effect 2."
The so-called reward is apparently transferred from Galaxy to ME2 via an EA Account (more info), but its identity remains a mystery for now -- and perhaps until you buy ME2. Our best guess is that the reward is an enhanced weapon or armor suit designed for Galaxy's main character, Jacob Taylor, who is also a companion character in ME2, and that it's an entirely negligible unlockable for all but the most obsessive completionist. The majority of reactions in the Touch Arcade forums suggest that the game itself is just as unimportant, if not downright degrading to the franchise. Proceed with caution.
[Thanks, Chris]

Seeing some form of cross platform 'integration' (whatever you want to call it) is novel idea though, they didn't have to do that. I doubt it's anything substantial but will be kinda cool to see none the less.

Well duh, it's an Iphone game. People expected it to be good?

He's right, I will never ever accept the Iphone as a capable gaming machine. The damn thing doesn't even have buttons, so how can people expect a game like Mass Effect to be good on it without drastically changing it to a shallow touch shooter (like the mgs4 game)?

I agree with you Tmac.
Games on the iPhone fail when they try to emulate what's done on dedicated gaming machines. However, when a game is built from the ground up for the system it CAN and does rival games seen on the DS and PSP.
Games like Real Racing and Sims 3 make similar games on the DS and PSP look like amateur hour. I think more developers should worry less about how to shoehorn their series onto the device and worry more about how to bring us the same compelling experience in a whole new way.

The iPhone is just as capable as my BlackBerry. That is to say, it's great to kill 5-10 minutes on, but anything more than that? Come on...

I think the mentality of not accepting the iPhone as a gaming device comes from the irrational hatred of all things Apple.
It's definitely a capable gaming machine. I've played many games on it and it works well.
But if people just want to hate Apple, that's another story.

The iPhone is as much a gaming machine as the Wii. Take that however you want to. If you consider the Wii to be a gaming machine, so is the iPhone. The only way it competes with the DS or PSP is the same way the Wii competes with the PS360 - indirect sales. That is, gamers like you and me don't buy an iPhone or Touch just for games, the same way most of us would sooner buy a PS360 for more core games.
Having said that, if you already own one, there are a couple games out there that are fun, but none are as good as the PSP/DS counterparts. This is where I really hate this argument. People say the app store has things that compete with PSP/DS - IT DOES NOT!!! The closest thing I've found is Mecho Wars, an Advance Wars clone, which is actually pretty good so far. But Brothers in Arms is a JOKE of a game. I bought it of a review online that said it's as good as any PS or DS game in its class - it is not. I had more fun with the DEMO for Medal of Honor on the PSP than Brothers in Arms in it's entirety. Metroid Prime Hunters was miles better in every aspect than BIA, and I'm not even a Prime fan!
Finally, to those who really want to say it's a competitor - compare Metal Gear Touch (or whaever gay name they came up with) to Metal Gear Portable Ops. MGPO is a REAL GAME where Touch is a point and click arcade shooter that isn't even 3D!! GOD DAMMIT PEOPLE!!!
Scramble is fun tho. Dig it

Good God man... Buy another controller then. I completely understand not letting people touch your controller, but your wife? Really? What else do you not let her touch?

I heard this game stinks, which is a damn same for two reasons:
1) I want to know the story REALLY badly, but not if I have to suffer through a bad game. I feel I benefited from reading Mass Effect: Revelation because it gave me a sneak peak at the characters and universe of Mass Effect. I thought Mass Effect Galaxy would do the same...but alas...
2) Damn it Bioware is supposed to produce awesome stuff! WHERE'S MAH AWESOME STUFF!?

The game part is not horrible. Worth the $5 just for the awesome story cut scenes and music in my opinion.

I still hope for a PC or XBLA port. I loved the novels and the game, and I don't want to miss something.
