Courtesy of the PlayStation Blog, we now know that Frank Castle's Unreal Engine-powered, arena-style FPS, The Punisher: No Mercy, will blast its way to PSN on July 2 for a cool $9.99. Aside from multiplayer gameplay that allows up to eight different vigilantes and famous Punisher faces to go at it, there'll be a single-player mode rife with unlockable content. Let's hope that doesn't include Thomas Jane skins.

I'm not buying this or any game online because it gives Microsoft and Sony more incentive to move toward digital distribution and make disc games obsolete. If that happens then us gamers get shafted because we wouldn't be able to trade games or resell them on ebay. Don't know about you guys but when I buy something I don't want Microsoft or Sony limiting my options on a property I own.

Not sure about Joystiq's "Thomas Jane skins" comment - I thought his Punisher movie was fantastic. Not as violent and action packed as the recent Punisher:Warzone, but it was still great.
As for this game, I'm thinkin' it's actually worth the 10 bucks... I really hope they offer a demo though, I can't purchase it without one.

WTF hinkle. Thomas Jane's punisher was great, way better than War Zone, which really could have been any character's movie, they just painted a skull on the guy. Jane's was a lot deeper and frankly, much better

I agree. I never understood the hate for Thomas Jane's Punisher movie. i really loved it, i'd rate it in my top 20 movies of all time. Anywho, the news of a Single Player mode to this has made it a day 1 buy for me :D

It's seems that no one remembers the 80's Punisher Dolph Lundgren. It might not have been the best Punisher, but you have to include it with the others. I don't think that the Punisher has ever got the justice he deserves in a movie.
Man on Fire felt like the closest thing to a Punisher movie for me.

I also really loved Thomas Jane's Punisher. I loved War Zone too, but I can see why a lot of people aren't into it, but the fact that the 2004 version is consistently shat upon is mind boggling.

You're high, the last movie was great!! it was even true to the origin story instead of that John Travolta bullshit.
Plus watch Rome if you want to see that guy in all his awesomeness.

War Zone was so so. Ray is a good actor, Rome was awesome, but Lexi Alexander didn't blow my mind with this one. And they made Frank such a pussy, weeping like a lil girl. WWAAHHHHH my family got killed. But seriously, just have Garth Ennis write a script and get a quality director, and cast an unknown actor who will keep quite and wear the damn Skull proud! Why do they always have to hide it?

I thought Thomas Jane's Punisher was ALOT better than Ray Stevenson's portrayal. Punisher warzone honestly sucked.

The Punisher sucked because of terrible story, and an incredibly boring villain. Thomas Jane did the best he could I guess.

Why should anyone take you seriously? Your obviously a child. Telling everyone to "Kill yourselves" if we hated the 2nd movie (which was utter Bile) and calling everyone "rtards" is very immature. When you grow up, people will listen.

OK - so all year I withhold from purchasing items from psn because I know every spring, 4th of july and christmas , PSN holds a sale on all games with almost 50% off. Does anyone know if there will be a 4th of July sale this year? sometimes they like to trick folks.

Bah! Thomas Jane worked with what he was given. If you'd read any interviews with the guy in the pre-production stage to Warzone you'd know he was passionate about the source. He went back to the Ennis stuff to reacquaint himself with the character.
Unfortunately, the suits at the studio didn't agree with his vision of what the Punisher should have been and so we ended up with Stevenson in the last film.

I'm sure he did, but the movie sucked. The second one was actually true to the source and these idiots here want to act like it was an affront to all things holy. Hence, they are RTards

I meant to spell it Rtard fool. besides typing on a netbook makes you more prone tpo typos, but keep grammar policing, it makes you seems SOOO much more intelligent on a video game blog.

Sorry, I stopped reading comics in the 90's after I moved out, got a real job and got married.
So last Punisher origin I saw was the one in the warzone movie. Which was awesome, not the touchy feelie bullshit marvels been pushing on you saps the last 10 years.
Fucking characters unmasking themselves, registering their powers....
Real shit been coming out of there from what I hear.

i love the Punisher can't wait to play this. oh and about the movies, just think about them as comic books you don't have to read, they all had good stories. Punisher: Dark Reign, Punisher talking on super villains instead of mobsters is a breath of fresh air. if you guys really like the Punisher, you gotta check out this comic book.

Sure thing, pal. Just so you know, though, nobody believes your bullshit cover story and we all think that you're a fucking retard that can't spell AND has no sense of irony. Like, it's ironic that you're so proud of not having time to read comics because you have a "real job" and a wife, yet you have time to comment on a video game blog. Twat.

Love it, I'm a child to the people argueing about a fucking Comic book movie.
People who think correcting someone's spelling on the internet is important.
You are such a bunch of easily riled up losers that I feel sorry for your family that has to put up with you in real life.
