Uncharted 2 crowned Best of E3 in Game Critics Awards
Meanwhile, Scribblenauts also got the recognition it deserved, coming in second with two awards for "Best Original Game" and "Best Handheld Game." No other games received multiple awards, though Valve recaptured the "Best Online Multiplayer" award with Left 4 Dead 2 a year after its predecessor did the same in 2008. While EA's Brütal Legend is nowhere to be seen in the list of winners, EA did take home more wins than any other publisher (three, if you're curious). And while the PS3-exclusive Uncharted 2 took top honors, from a console perspective the Xbox 360 edged out the PS3 by a single win, at eight versus seven.
Check out the full list of winners after the break and, for more granular stats, check out the breakdowns at the Game Critics Awards website.

The guys at Naughty Dog deserve it. They created the most believable, lovable, and the coolest character this generation. After seeing how much the voices behind the characters care about the franchise and the level of detail woven through every square inch of that game, Uncharted 2 is definitely going to be a pre-order and I've never done for any game before. Not even MGS4, when Metal Gear Solid is my favorite series. Viva La Naughty Dog!
SoulBlade @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:36AM
yea well deserved naughty dog... though you've never preordered a game before?! whaaa?
Vcize @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:37AM
He's basically a videogame version of Malcolm Reynolds, which is awesome btw.
mgsrocks1 @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:38AM
I hope I'm not the only one that doesn't pre-order games. There are upcoming games that I am going to pre-order though:
* Assassin's Creed 2
* God of War 3
* Halo 3 ODST
* Mass Effect 2
* Uncharted 2
* Ratchet and Clank Future
* Team ICO's 3rd game (is it The Last Guardian?)
* Modern Warfare 2
@Vcize: Me being compared to Malcolm Reynolds? Dude, it's an honor to be compared to the captain of the Firefly! :D
JXCgunrunna @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:46AM
lol i think he was talking about drake
mgsrocks1 @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:56AM
@JXCgunrunna: I know. ;)
That was suppose to say "Man" not "Me" but I guess I secretly wanted to be the captain of Firefly. :)
FraGNeM @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:12PM
Honestly, outside of the rare bonus for preordering, what's the point?
I haven't had problems finding a game on its day of release for at least a decade. Really popular titles will just have a suitably large initial shipment.
Duke @ Jun 23rd 2009 2:09PM
Most lovable? Really? I never played a game and thought of a character being lovable. That's funny. Anyway, they deserve it for sure, the first game was great and the sequel looks to be so as well. Definitely a game to look forward to.
OnToGloryReturns @ Jun 23rd 2009 6:11PM
I agree. One of my must haves this year along w/ Mass Effect
Old Professor Zertoss @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:35AM
"And while the PS3-exclusive Uncharted 2 took top honors, from a console perspective the Xbox 360 edged out the PS3 by a single win, at eight versus seven."
No fair! You changed the outcome by measuring it!
sony boy @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:00AM
you got to be kidding me. the ps3 obviously had more games than the 360 this year.
steven(PSN: small_hands) @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:28PM
+1
Dude you are awesome! Heisenberg Uncertainty principle rules I try to use whenever I can

It's good to see Uncharted 2 scop up the awards. It looks like it will be an amazing game. Uncharted was one of the reason to own a PS3, and if this improves on it, we'll all be lucky.
Vcize @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:36AM
Seriously, Naughty Dog should run some kind of workshop where they teach everyone else how to be better coders.
Uncharted was a first gen game, with gorgeous graphics, that had no load times on a system where other developers were having to stick in mandatory installs just to get REASONABLY long load times.
If only they could make every game.
pd771 @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:38AM
No loading added so much to the original. It made it feel less like a game and more like a movie. It was so smooth and seamless.
Jack Spicer PSN: watsuke @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:50AM
Am i the only one with loading screens in Uncharted?
Hyams @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:54AM
If you have any loading screens beyond the one when you first load up your save game, something has gone wrong.
Darkdrium777 @ Jun 23rd 2009 12:49PM
Sometimes the game will have to load the next area if you play too fast through the previous one and it doesn't have the time to stream everything in. If you continuously get loadings though, something is very wrong. I got only one loading during play and I must've played this game six times through and through.
sc00by_y00 @ Jun 23rd 2009 3:19PM
How much do you want to bet that both Edge and Eurogamer gives uncharted 2 a 7 citing some bullshit reason for the 7. Shit probably best describes both edge and eurogamer..
copa @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:38AM
Congratulations! Uncharted 2 is looking very, very sharp.
HSOL @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:38AM
Uncharted was the only game at E3 where my jaws literally dropped. Too bad I don't have a PS3 though.
Foetoid @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:19AM
Metroid: Other M was the only game to make my jaw drop.
phobic99 @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:33AM
Same for me. Most of the other games from this E3 gave me a "meh". Uncharted 2 looks amazing and I can't wait to play it.
Wonderflex @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:40AM
Craigslist. You can get a backwards compatible one to boot.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:52AM
"Metroid: Other M was the only game to make my jaw drop"
This revelation from Foetoid has me completely shocked....shocked I tells ya.
Fun DMC @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:01PM
Then Foetoid, you must not have seen teh footage.
I know you're a Nintendo dude, but tell me this isn't impressive
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-uncharted-2/51623
a little more impressive than the Metroid Other M trailer, don't you think? Metroid Other M was also the only game that made me go 'whoa' (mostly out of surprise), until I saw the Uncharted 2 footage. Shit looks incredible.
Duke @ Jun 23rd 2009 5:18PM
I have yet to see a Wii game that makes anyone's jaw really drop. Loving the console is one thing, but lets not give it more credit than it deserves.
baby sea tuna @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:40AM
Nice! Uncharted was the game that first got me to buy a PS3 and the sequel is one of the few games that I'm truly looking forward to this holiday. Go Naughty Dog!
hunter2223 @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:41AM
Because of the showing at E3 I've now begun an official PS3 savings pool. Up to $190 and should be well north of the needed $400 by September. I'm hoping for a price cut or kick ass bundle somewhere in here to get the best buck/bang but we'll see.
Uncharted 2 was jaw dropping. Beautiful and fluid in every way. Well deserved honor and couldn't agree more.
uncle jesse @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:48AM
Yeah, I'm really looking into picking up a PS3 when this comes out. (Price cut by then, please?). I know there's lots of good games out already for the PS3, but playing this game alone might be a good enough reason to own a PS3. I'm really excited for this one. Looks amazing.
J-Link @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:30AM
Yeah, same here, hopefully I can get enough by the end of the summer. First thing I get will be MGS4, since theres no way its coming to the 360.
hunter2223 @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:41AM
It also paused my Purchase of Tails of Vesperia... not that I can find the damn thing for sale, but now I'll wait for the PS3 version.
It's about that time in the console Cycle to diversify.
Victoryismine @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:34PM
You should sign up for a sony/Playstation card. You can still get $150 off of your first purchase of $300 or more. in addition sign up for sony rewards and buy thru a sony styles store and you'll get 2,000 sony points and you can cash in on a game or something at sony rewards. If you have the cash anyway then you might as well just pay off the card afterwards and be done with it. you'l get a system for $250 that way and have rewards points as well if you keep using the card you can get even more. That is what I did and I've been using the card as my gas card and paying it off at the end of each month and I have close to 15,000 points already at 40,000 I can get another PS3!!
Tony @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:46AM
I often wish Naughty Dog did multiplatform work. I love their more recent titles. They just seem to get better every game they make, which I can't say for many developers. Whenever I get a PS3 this game is my first planned purchase.
pd771 @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:55AM
They just wouldn't be as good then. I'm not knocking the 360, but a large reason their games are so good is because they can focus on working on one console and spend all their energy on optimizing it for the console.
InFaMoUs1- @ Jun 23rd 2009 3:25PM
exactly you can say the same for Splinter Cell Conviction
Night Elve @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:43AM
Me loves Uncharted and me loves Elena Fisher

This game makes me happy in ways no game should...
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:45AM
God dammit! The more I play uncharted one, and the more i watch about uncharted 2, it just makes me want a Jak and Daxter 4 even more!!
Jack_Jackington @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:12AM
I'm in that same boat with you. I keep telling myself "its ok. its ok. it'll be here soon" but it doesn't help
uncle jesse @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:46AM
I'm glad that the best of show award also won the best console and best action/adventure categories. It never makes sense to me when a game wins best of show, but not the best console or other category it's in.
This will be a system seller, FO SHO!
Heavytoka @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:46AM
Uncharted to had an amazing showing at E3 and the Beta is Awesome!
uncle jesse @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:50AM
Whoa, just noticed Split/Second beating out Forza...
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 23rd 2009 11:54AM
Split Second, at least on paper, seems amazing whereas Forza 3...honestly I couldn't even see the difference between 2 and 3.
Mazrael @ Jun 23rd 2009 1:46PM
The Cars had a little more to them.. main difference I saw were the vastly improved look of the tracks/scenery.. and better physics, so we can roll the cars.. I'm just hoping the VW Golf R32 is still in there
Kill a mans jiro @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:52AM
I wouldnt disagree with anything there, this years E3 wa pretty good tbh.
StGermain @ Jun 23rd 2009 10:56AM
I'm glad that the ps3 owners get good games as well but why is this news in the xbox section?
