IESB: Writer hired on for sequel to Hitman movie
As fans of the exploits of one Agent 47, seeing Hitman the movie was like watching a really bad movie. But, Fox liked how much money it made (grossed near $100 million in worldwide box office sales, dontchaknow) -- IESB reports the studio has hired on writer Kyle Ward to pen a sequel, with producers Adrian Askarieh, Daniel Alter and Chuck Gordon returning.
Ward is no stranger to adapting games for film, as he recently penned Kane & Lynch, set to star Bruce Willis and begin filming later this year. Hey. Ward, do us a favor? Before you get to work, make sure you watch a decent film about a hitman first, 'kay?

Cool, the first movie was great.
ArchiGamer @ Jun 24th 2009 8:13PM
I LOVE THS MOVIE SO MUCH THAT I EXPECT SOMEONE TO KILL ME! LKE A HITMAN!
/HEAVY sarcasm
soniccar @ Jun 24th 2009 10:59PM
I really did enjoy this movie, of course, some bits were better than others(Olga=awesome). I think it was a pretty dang good transporter-like movie and it was definitely better than Transporter 3. I think those that think that the movie sucked are crazy. It joins the first MK and the first Tomb Raider in the small category of enjoyable videogame movies.
sk8er148 @ Jun 24th 2009 8:10PM
the first one sucked. why would they do this
Hyams @ Jun 24th 2009 8:12PM
"But, Fox liked how much money it made"
WiredKnight @ Jun 24th 2009 9:00PM
Do they really all the people who paid to see it to say "hey, the first one was awful, let's go see the next one?"
Oh right, it's Fox, stupid question.
Hyams @ Jun 24th 2009 8:11PM
At the time I thought the movie was pretty okay, but thinking back, I can't remember anything about it but the hot heroine.
Jack_Jackington @ Jun 24th 2009 8:13PM
You must be thinking about another movie. She wasn't hot
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 24th 2009 8:16PM
thank God Jack, someone else who sees what I see. When I saw her in Quantum of Solace i was floored they had such an ugly bond girl
Hyams @ Jun 24th 2009 8:17PM
You're both going to burn in the deepest pits of hell.
ArchiGamer @ Jun 24th 2009 8:18PM
Trust me, she not that hot.
Spartacus @ Jun 24th 2009 8:21PM
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but dang, you've gotta be cross-eyed to think she's not gorgeous. There's a reason there was a lot of talk about her being the best Bond girl yet when that movie came out.
Girugamuk (Moptimus Slimed) @ Jun 24th 2009 8:27PM
wait, are we talking about the redhead or the other one?

if you're trying to convince us she's hot you should post pictures where she looks hot
ArchiGamer @ Jun 24th 2009 8:50PM
A woman is only hot when even gay guys want to be with her.
She isn't that type.
Jack_Jackington @ Jun 24th 2009 8:53PM
By the way, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 24th 2009 9:02PM
she looks mannish to me, obviously face only. Other than that her face is kinda bland and featureless. I know that people will undoubtedly say "she's better than anything than you'll ever touch" but that's beyond the point, in comparison to other hollywood beauties or femme fatales, she just isnt that hot. Hell, to me there a hundreds of girls waaaaay hotter just in my town. But then again, my town and it's denizens are drawn by Jim Lee
LordToastington @ Jun 24th 2009 9:32PM

I'm not usually one to engage in "who's hot" debates, but I thought she was attractive in Quantum of Solace. I feel these pics are better than the ones previously posted; I think she gained some weight, which is a good thing. She also has a softer look now.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 25th 2009 12:18AM
yeah I suppose that's the word I was looking for Brendan, she looked very hard, cold and even brutish in Quantum and Max Payne. She does look hot in those pics
Bobs @ Jun 25th 2009 12:32AM
I think she is sexy, but not hot.
Sexy women are more appealing because they have more than just physique going for them (their act, how they make themselves look). Hot women are just pure sex appeal due to their physique.
Its hard to describe but for example, Adriana Lima is really sexy;and Megan Fox is hot (but not vice versa)
catch my drift?
Spartacus @ Jun 24th 2009 8:19PM
I saw this on an international flight. I must have been really tired as I didn't remember Olga was in it. I had to check IMDB just to make sure. I might have to watch it again, lol.
nukee @ Jun 24th 2009 8:27PM
Ugh...
Jimmyjimjim @ Jun 24th 2009 8:28PM
As long as they have many shots of a naked Olga Kurylenko again, I will be seeing this.
Yes, I think she's hotter than Georgia asphalt. Hot in the Asia Argento Eurotrash way. And I like that.
TheDrizzle @ Jun 24th 2009 8:29PM
How about another hitman game? I could care less about the movies
Ignatius @ Jun 24th 2009 8:42PM
Unless they make the movie exactly like the game, although another game would be nice.
From what I've heard about the movie, it was nothing like the game (when actually trying to be a silent assassin...)
refinedsugar @ Jun 24th 2009 8:34PM
In hindsight, Timothy Olyphant wasn't too bad. It's a shame the story wasn't up to par, but eh ... what are you going to do? Games turned movies. We already know the deal.
WiredKnight @ Jun 24th 2009 9:03PM
No, no, he was awful. Granted, I guess it wasn't his fault that they made him so emotive, but damn 47 is not supposed to have that much personality.
Also, fuck Jason Stathem for turning down a role he'd be awesome at, in an attempt to "diversify" and avoid "type-casting," only to star in the Dungeon Siege movie and Crank 2.
Brackynews @ Jun 24th 2009 9:23PM
Agreed. I just watched it again recently, and taken on its own, it's alright, with some good casting. Just not faithful to the source. I feel that way about Angels and Demons too, but I don't NEED movies to be faithful 2 hour recreations. I'm not batshit loco that way. :P
As for Olga, I'm sorry to say I think Hitman is the high point of her career. It's disappointing she went from this to Max Payne; but at least she died in the first half. In QoS she is one of the worst Bond girls in one of the worst Bond movies. They didn't even give her a last name, it's so bad.
Young_Nastyman @ Jun 24th 2009 9:42PM
"taken on its own, it's alright, with some good casting. Just not faithful to the source"
this = truth
Snake Robot Podium @ Jun 25th 2009 8:46AM
It was olyphantastic! Whatever that means.
TheDrizzle @ Jun 24th 2009 8:48PM
Yeah the movie was nothing like the game. The hitman games are way better, I'll only get it if IO interactive is working on it. But they're busy working on mini ninjas right now.
LordToastington @ Jun 24th 2009 9:33PM
You're still The Drizzle? I thought you became The Fume?
ArchiGamer @ Jun 24th 2009 10:02PM
"TheDrizzle"
Is that what your wife calls you?
emagius @ Jun 24th 2009 9:03PM
I was hoping for that Youtube link to be for that very movie. You did not disappoint, Joystiq!
Jon D @ Jun 24th 2009 9:42PM
since i sucked horribly at the games (took awhile to get used to), i really enjoyed the mindless sense of violence attached to the films.
damn maybe i should actually try playing these games again to see the difference. lol
Levi (God Hand Defense Force) @ Jun 24th 2009 10:27PM
Hitman wasn't nearly as bad as all the reviews made it out to be. I found it enjoyable, but not very great either. I would be interested in seeing a sequel if they bring back Xavier Gens, and if Fox doesn't decide to dick around with the movie that he makes.
HotRats @ Jun 24th 2009 10:53PM
Fuck yes! they gave a link to the Leon trailer, that movie kicks so much ass. Oh and the first hitman movie was a bag of shit
soniccar @ Jun 24th 2009 10:58PM

Stupid password not being recognized.
cheese @ Jun 24th 2009 11:16PM
I don't think it was that bad of a movie, frankly. Certainly better than the Tomb Raider movies, and Olga is hotter than Angelina imho.
sam @ Jun 25th 2009 6:33AM
'Better than the Tomb Raider movies' is a term of praise now? It was probably better than being imprisoned in Abu Ghraib, too...
Me I'd like it if Hollywood started making films that were actually good *as well as* popular - yes this is possible and it used to happen moderately often. Action, explosions, 'hot' (or not, see endless discussion above) women, and whatever else are not actually incompatible with quality plots, scripts, and acting.
For bonus points it would be great if they never again made any movie based on a video game. Ever. For the entire remaining lifespan of the universe, the end.
green11420 @ Jun 24th 2009 11:25PM
I thought the first movie was gonna suck, but I kinda liked it. Tim Olyphant or however you spell it, is not the perfect Hitman, but he did a good job all the same.

She's in 'the trifecta' for me.
Megan Fox, Olga, Zooey Deschanel.
The movie however, was awful.

Don't you guys think a Hitman tv show would work better?
uncle jesse @ Jun 25th 2009 10:33AM
Guys, this movie wasn't trying to be The Professional or anything. It was stupid, but entertaining and I liked it for what it was. I would see a sequel. I might no sprint to the theater, but most definitely on DVD. They have to keep the same actors though.
Honestly, Olga throwing herself at you and you put her to sleep? He definitely wasn't a hit-man there, if you know what i'm saying.
