Patrick Kane dekes his way onto NHL 10 cover

EA's getting a new slapsticker for its NHL series of games, as the Chicago Blackhawks' right winger, Patrick Kane, will be gracing the cover of NHL 10. Drafted in 2007, the kid has been a great player since hitting the ice, and is a solid choice for the cover. But is he a better choice than the competition's cover guy?

All we want to know is: where's the Sidney Crosby love? The Penguins did win the Stanley Cup this year, after all. Also, we looked that up on Wikipedia.

Ovechkin was already on NHL 07. Crosby's too much of a whiner for cover material.

Gotta echo the comments here, if anyone from the Pens should be on the cover, it's Malkin. The guy won the Conn Smythe trophy this year, after all. That said, I have no problem with Kane on the cover. Not my first choice, but after they embarrassed the Flames this year, I find I can't hate the Hawks too much.

I'll probably keep playing NHL 07 for now, though. If you don't mind the outdated rosters, the $5 price tag on most used sports games makes them a hell of a bargain.

It's out because Kan e has stated in several interviews that he chews on his mouthpiece while on the ice. Not exactly the brightest thing to do but that is the reason.

Carolina fan here and I have no problem with Patty Kane he is a great player, and be real only the douchebags of the world think Sid is not a douche. If they had put Malkin on it good for him tough he is ugly as hell might scare little kids off. Oh and btw it you ever notice EA doesn't put the champs from the Stanley Cup on their covers, Stall was on '08 not '07 even though I don't think he should have been. But yeah no need to think its just us 4 teams fans bashing Sid.

It is pretty obvious that the red wings should have won the cup. Obviously the NHL fixed it so the penguins would win the cup with their silly 'who won the most games out of 7' BS.

Ovechkin was already on the cover in 07, though. They can't just keep putting the same person on the cover, unless they want to change the name of the series so it's like the old Wayne Gretzky hockey games.

What the hell is with the box art for all the hockey games this year, EA's and 2K's covers look brutal. What happened to just using a cool, REAL picture of the athlete?

As for the choice of Kane here, he's okay. I'm not a big fan of Crosby, but he probably should have gotten the cover. He did captain the team that won the cup. It also would have added more fuel to the fire for the Crosby vs Ovechkin war. I personally would have picked someone from the Red Wings. Maybe Zetterburg would have been a better choice?

If they were going to pick a Penguin to be on the cover, Malkin would be a better choice than Crosby. There's a lot more middle ground in peoples opinions of him, whereas Crosby is very love-him-or-hate-him, and he was the Conn Smythe and Art Ross winner this year.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter who they put on the cover, I'm still going to buy the game. It seems like more of an honour to the ahtlete than anything, and that's why it should be one of the season or playoff leaders.

oh man, i laugh every time i hear people whining about crosby whining. anyone can admit that he complained to the refs a lot as a rookie but he's obviously matured and deserves to be the youngest captain EVER to raise the cup. i'm pretty sure people would always complain about crosby just like everyone who doesn't win the lottery and wishes they had all those millions. jealousy is human nature after all.

on a more relevant note, i think patrick kane was a good choice for the NHL '10 cover. he's got plenty of skill and is a good face for the nhl. i don't mind ovie being on a cover but the picture they chose looks idiotic.

Yeah, it's not like he whined at all this year about a long-standing hockey tradition. Oh wait, yes he did. "Hey Mr. Ref, could you like make an announcement or something to tell people to stop throwing hats?" And then after the game he even admitted to this conversation and claimed it wasn't complaining. He's the NHL's poster boy, and he keeps asking for more and more. Wah, wah wah. It's a good thing he really helped out his team during Game 7, out wait, he was on the bench whining about his knee.

Pens? This is NHL 20 -10- not 09. It makes sense to have a guy from the 2010 stanley cup winning team.

I'm a Penguins fan, and I'm glad Crosby is not on the cover... it's bad luck man! Beside Kaney is deserving of the exposure... I'm a HOCKEY fan so any great player to grace the cover is fine by me! People that bad mouth certain players like Crosby are obviously not HOCKEY fans, because those same people would take him on their team any day of the week.

Gary Bettman should have been on the cover. He won the cup.

I'm a huge Penguins fan and admittedly a fan of Crosby too but I would have chose Malkin over Crosby for the cover... hell probably even Fluery over Crosby. I think that those two were more instrumental to the Penguins winning the cup than Crosby was.

And, to everyone talking about Crosby sitting out the the last period of the final, he stated in multiple interviews that he did so because he didn't feel he was 100% and didn't want to jeopardize a win by being on the ice. I feel that speaks volumes for his committal to putting the team and the win first.

Im a Big Time kane fan as well as blackhawks so i cant wait for NHL 10 to come out ... Kane is a Beast
