Rumor: Halo 3: ODST Achievements leaked
(click to Scorpion-size)
In what will assuredly not be the last leak of the summer from Halo 3: ODST as we lead up to its fall release, the entire achievement list has allegedly hit YouTube via Game-Tuts. While the list doesn't reveal any shocking surprises, it does tell us quite a bit about where the game's campaign mode will take us.
According to the list, "Vidmaster" achievements will be making an appearance in the game, as well as all the de rigeur cheevos for regular ol' campaign objectives. Also unsurprisingly, campaign scoring and co-op achievements appear to be making a return in ODST. We'd love to tell you more about the rumored achievement list but, alas, we may start walking into spoiler territory if we do -- and you wouldn't want that, right? You'll just have to head after the break for the whole thing, spoilers in-tow (you've been warned!). We've contacted Bungie regarding the validity of this list and have yet to hear back as of publishing.

Don't you just love leaks
tenor77 @ Jun 25th 2009 9:16AM
Some women apparently disagree with that statement. They keep saying "eww, eww, what the hell are you doing???"
They're all crazy.
isaac @ Jun 24th 2009 12:49PM
sounds like all the same "Good Ol' Halo" achievements to me.
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Jun 24th 2009 12:49PM
Looks valid. Cool, good for some, I guess.
cuteSAVAGE @ Jun 24th 2009 12:49PM
Everything seems very plausible. I'm still calling shenanigans... His guide isn't freezing or pausing/loading for five seconds every time he clicks to a new menu :P
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Jun 24th 2009 12:52PM
Neither is mine. Get your 360 checked.
McWilly @ Jun 24th 2009 1:12PM
x, x, LB, RB, xx is your friend. Use it.
ChomskyKnows @ Jun 24th 2009 2:03PM
mine ain't either
PR0F3TA @ Jun 24th 2009 12:52PM
You bought another halo game - 30
Wonderflex @ Jun 24th 2009 12:58PM
...but you're still playing Halo 2 - 30
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jun 24th 2009 1:03PM
You bought Halo Wars just for the Halo 3 maps -30
Random G @ Jun 24th 2009 2:07PM
I've unlocked all three.
Wonderflex @ Jun 24th 2009 6:01PM
Sadly I've never unlocked any of them. I like the 360 sometimes, but I've never really been into the Halo series like a lot of people. Whenever I do end up playing with friends though it seems as if all they want to do is play Halo 2.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 24th 2009 12:53PM
If this is to really be believed, they look like pretty cookie cutter achievements. With the exception of finding the audio logs and getting over 200,000 points on the firefight levels, most of these can be unlocked just by beating the game.
Heavytoka @ Jun 24th 2009 1:10PM
Agreed, I would think more of these would be harder to get
aristokrat @ Jun 24th 2009 1:24PM
Most of Halo 3's were not that hard to get either.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Jun 24th 2009 4:50PM
why is detective not listed coop but gumshoe is?
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jun 24th 2009 12:57PM
Sounds like fun or at least better than Halo 3.
Deja vu should be easier this time,I never got it in Halo 3 because there isn't a lobby to play co-op like in World at War or Gears fo War 2.
Teph @ Jun 25th 2009 12:53PM
What??
Dave @ Jun 24th 2009 1:10PM
ONI Alpha Site... ah, I see what they did there those clever Bungie folk.
Commando62 @ Jun 24th 2009 1:31PM
I am confused, please enlighten me with your knowledge of what you know!
Marlan @ Jun 24th 2009 3:31PM
Very clever. hehe
Mike @ Jun 24th 2009 1:00PM
given the date stamp on the most recent achievement, I'd wager these are still up for change.
Captain Planet @ Jun 24th 2009 1:00PM
I love how Xbox leaks are so much more miniscule compared to Playstation leaks.
Prox @ Jun 24th 2009 1:09PM
Awesome. Now let's all whip out and compare our leaks again.
wages of sin @ Jun 24th 2009 1:10PM
...yeah because a leak of an overpriced PSP GO! is so awesome!
Look at it this way at least MS leaks are for products that actually sell.
WINterfang @ Jun 24th 2009 1:12PM
Captain Planet sucks, Widget for the win.
Dakar @ Jun 24th 2009 1:11PM
It got locked on the bungie forums, so that's a pretty good sign.
Joe @ Jun 24th 2009 1:10PM
when did the game go gold?
aristokrat @ Jun 24th 2009 1:25PM
I'm curious to see if there are any achievements on the MP disc, or if it will just unlock the normal Halo 3 achievements if you pull them off.
GANNONSMASH @ Jun 24th 2009 1:42PM
The Multiplayer disc has all the current Halo 3 Achievements, including the unattainable (without the original Halo 3 game) campaign achievements, and the ones for the three maps exclusive to ODST.
Jawmuncher @ Jun 24th 2009 1:43PM
I thought everything was on one disc and when you boot up the Halo 3 MP part of the disc it justs uses the achievement list from halo 3
aristokrat @ Jun 24th 2009 1:46PM
Ah, so the system just recognizes it as a (crippled) Halo 3 disc?
GANNONSMASH @ Jun 24th 2009 6:31PM
Straight from Bungie.net:
"The primary disc contains ODST's Campaign and Firefight modes. If you have friends who also have ODST, you'll be able to play these modes together.
The second disc is Halo 3’s traditional multiplayer. You can use this disc to play the multiplayer that you're experiencing via Halo 3 right now. Plus, we're throwing in three more maps, Heretic, Citadel, and Longshore. Players who have Halo 3 or ODST, can play Halo 3's traditional multiplayer together."
So the first disc is ODST's cooperative stuff, with 1000 Gamerscore, and the second is Halo 3 Multiplayer, with 3 new maps, and all the current Halo 3 multiplayer achievements, going back to the launch ones. I'm not sure, but I think this gives the two disc set close to 1750 Gamerscore.

Some of those are pretty funny. i loev how there's an acheivement for killing engineers and one for not killing engineers. i also should say that I'm so happy we finally get engineers in a halo game. Been waiting forever.
Brian @ Jun 24th 2009 2:28PM
Whats so special about them?
I hear countless halo fans saying how good it to have engineers in the game.
What are they? I haven't played all of the halo games to understand wtf a engineer is.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 24th 2009 3:22PM
they're a covenant race that are really just floating pink/purply gas balls with tentacles that repair things really fast and are too busy doing science they are never hostile to humans, one time in the book i think one even repaired chiefs gun or armor or something
yo Naturale @ Jun 24th 2009 3:26PM
@ Brian
Engineers are a Covenant "species" (they aren't really alive, but a Forerunner created AI) show up in the Halo novels, and until Halo Wars never showed up in the Halo games.
Engineers in a nutshell: Floating jellyfish-like gasbags that fix things really well.
Van Faulk @ Jun 24th 2009 7:16PM
They are a part of the Halo lore that we've never seen in the games (aside from a unit in Halo wars) but are referecned nearly constantly in the books. And Halo nerds hate that. If halo reach doens't involve the spartans who were on reach in the books, there will be hell to pay.
whylekat @ Jun 24th 2009 1:54PM
4-player co-op is amazing!!
NBA Kirkland @ Jun 24th 2009 2:19PM
Remember how strange it seemed when they renamed this game from Recon to ODST? It occurred to me that perhaps they did this because Halo: Recon could be confused with Halo: Reach.
Brian @ Jun 24th 2009 2:27PM
No.
from Halopedia:
On November 25th, 2008, Bungie LLC. renamed the in-development Halo 3: Recon to Halo 3: ODST.The reasons to why the upcoming expansion was renamed is due to the player playing the character of an ODST in the game, and to focus attention off of the fact that players will be able to receive MJOLNIR Mark VI Reconnaissance Armor.
They got that from bungie. :)
NBA Kirkland @ Jun 24th 2009 4:27PM
Well that's the official word, but I'm not so sure. Their explanation doesn't seem reason enough to me to change the name of the game after it has been announced. ODST is much more cumbersome.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 24th 2009 3:21PM
I wonder what's the deal with vidmaster classic, it says do it on a level, but on Live? I wonder if you just have to be signed in on live or if it's co op or multiplayer
Jake @ Jun 24th 2009 4:58PM
FAKE!!!! It says listener achievement unlocked 11/18/08 and that is a year before it comes out. Also betas never have achievements.
Zentaki @ Jun 24th 2009 7:50PM
It's real. You don't need to play games to unlock achievements nowadays.
Joe @ Jun 24th 2009 10:21PM
Copyright claim by the NFL! omg lawlz up the arse! HTF did that happen?
nsilva @ Jun 25th 2009 1:16AM
NFL Claim?
Aw sheet, ODST is all about teh Maddens.
redskins26 rocs @ Jun 28th 2009 12:18AM
i thought odst was supposed to have 4 vid master ach. like halo 3
Marc @ Jul 13th 2009 12:17PM
Betas don't have achievements? Where did you get your info? How do you think they make sure the achievements work? I can tell you for sure that there are betas with achivements because I've played them.
Also, you people bitch too much.
