If you're a fan of dated, obscure 2D JRPGs, then you'll be glad to know that the former PS3-exclusive Cross Edge is getting an Xbox 360 port. The original game featured a mish-mash of characters from Darkstalkers, Disgaea, Ar Tonelico and more. The novelty of seeing characters from a variety of series (all owned by different companies) couldn't offset its PS1-quality production values and repetitive gameplay, though, with Cross Edge currently holding a Metacritic score of 47.
Regardless, developer Compile Heart is working on a version just for Xbox 360 called Cross Edge Dash. Just like the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia, this late port will feature a number of enhancements, such as new events and a Colosseum mode. The game will be available in Japan this October, with a US release unannounced.

This is the kind of game I think is perfect for XBLA. It is a niche title, that more than likely wouldn't get a wide retail release, and the graphics look simple enogh to have a relatively modest download size. By being digitally distributed, they:
- don't have to fight for shelf space. Even after a few months of release, someone who decided to pick it up would still be able to get it.
- it would come with a demo so people could try it out, the same people who are curious, but don't want to shell out the money on a disappointment.
- can price it accordingly. The retail industry gets at least 20% of a game's final cost, and with manufacturing and MS royalties, they would save a lot of money by releasing it on arcade.
The only problem I have with arcade games is people don't market and advertise them and get mad that their games don't sell. You don't have to spend millions. Give a few copies to each major blog revolving around a contest, and people will market your game almost for free.
I can see spending $15 to $20 on a decent downloadable game and not cry over it as oppsed to $40 - 60 and it sucks, with no demo for warning or to satisfy my curiosity.

Maybe this time it'll be better than the original PS3 version.

Hey congratulation, you guys get a 2D JRPG game with low metacritic score below 50 from the PS3. Yet we get your precious former exclusive JRPG game Tales of Vesperia with a high metacritic score of 80, with enhancements, new character, more story and quest, from the Xbox 360.
HEY WAIT A SECOND! T-t-that's not fair AT ALL!!!
AND we get Bioshock 2 to come out simultaneously with the PS3? that's that's not cool! and the same thing goes with Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2? That's that's not cool!
-Sarcasm.-
So now it's back to Gears, Halo and Forza being you're only true big name exclusives?

I have FUN with games, some of you should try it sometime. :)
I'm glad more people will get a chance to try a lot of these games. Might get a low metacritic score, but sometimes I find that I really love titles critics haven't. It happens.
Vesperia is a great game. I'm jealous of the extras PS3 owners will get, but I can live with it. At least I'll have more people I can recommend it to, because it's a surprisingly solid title.
