Jimmy Fallon beats Tiger Woods at his own game
Fresh-faced late night host (and Engadget superfriend) Jimmy Fallon recently trounced golf superstar Tiger Woods in a Times Square showdown round of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. Just as aging classic rockers are incapable of grasping the musical mechanics of Rock Band, it seems Mr. Woods was unable to translate his real-life adroitness to the virtual greens -- Fallon bested him by "a large margin," according to MTV Multiplayer.
Try not to take it too hard, Woodsy. We're sure you could beat him at Don't Laugh During Every Freaking Sketch During Your Six-Year Stint on Saturday Night Live 2010.

off topic: michael jackson has died. everyone sing his songs for him. may god bless his kind soul.
on topic: LOL!!!! I guess tiger can't play games.
Saihna @ Jun 25th 2009 11:16PM
HE MOLESTED LITTLE BOYS.
HIS CELEBRITY STATUS SHOULDN'T EXCUSE HIM OF THAT.
D:
MC Double Def DP @ Jun 25th 2009 11:20PM
Those boys should feel honored. I was only molested by some no-name priest :(
sony boy @ Jun 25th 2009 11:21PM
oh cmon. you dknow he didn't molest anybody and it's just a rumor. you can't blame him for getting a disease that make black ppl white.
Saihna @ Jun 25th 2009 11:22PM
Racist.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 25th 2009 11:26PM
@MC
That was awesome. + a million for you.
Just because he may have had an extremely disturbing personal life, doesn't change the fact that he was the biggest musical artist the world's ever had and there's no problem with liking his work.
I don't hate kobe as a player because of his accused rape, I don't hate Michael Jordan as a player because he cheated on his wife all the time and is a compulsive gambler, and I don't hate Jackson as an artist for his personal life.
There's a reason why the saying "keep your professional life and personal life seperate" exists...
Jawmuncher @ Jun 25th 2009 11:42PM
Like others have said his contribution in music will always be what we remember most. Come on he gave us Thriller!
Ihavepants @ Jun 25th 2009 11:46PM
@sony boy
MJ's "vitiligo disease" excuse is a retarded half truth at best. It only affects small areas of the body. So if he even did have it, he probably just didn't like being "mismatched" and went about personally morphing himself into an ugly white woman.
And vitiligo certainly doesn't change facial structure.
whylekat @ Jun 26th 2009 12:00AM
The molestation thing was never proven ya know.. It never even went to court. He settled with the family privately out of court for an undisclosed amount. Many believe it was just a money makin scheme by the boy's family.. But the world will never know for sure. =P
WINterfang @ Jun 26th 2009 12:14AM
I'll surely trade some kid for another Billy Jean-Randome comedian on CC.
Slaziman @ Jun 26th 2009 12:23AM
It's not a fact that he abused children, and if you actually went and educated yourself on the trials, you can see they were highly dubious. But of course you believed the media circus and did no effort to try to understand what really happened.
WINterfang @ Jun 26th 2009 12:30AM
Besides come on, didn't Dave chappelle told it right?
This was a kid that was dying of Cancer and wanted to see Michael Jackson, that was the first suspicious thing and instead of gotten worse he was strong as an Oak and Michael Jackson sucked his dick? That almost sound like some to brag about it.
sc00by_y00 @ Jun 26th 2009 5:30AM
May peace be upon your soul (rest in peace) Michael Jackson
Saihna he was accused of molestation, he was never charged for it. Think about that for a second, there is a world of difference.
As freaky as he got, you can never take away the fact that he probably produced some of the best pop music you will ever hear, Timeless classics.
If you look at him another way, he helped unite black & white.
tmacairjordan87 was the first to mention it, its still shocking...
ohyeahcola @ Jun 26th 2009 8:06AM
if it weren't for michael there wouldn't be MTV or pop music.
come to think of it there wouldn't be pos shows and hannah montana
WiredKnight @ Jun 25th 2009 11:12PM
Clearly Woods let him win, just to make Fallon look good. Someone's gotta do it.
CookizREvil @ Jun 25th 2009 11:17PM
I like that Conan is watching him from up in the billboard.
He's that much better.
Young_Nastyman @ Jun 25th 2009 11:24PM
you helped me make a mindfuck demotivational
thanks
Dr. @ Jun 25th 2009 11:17PM
Funny, cause his crowds don't laugh at his current sketches...
Dave @ Jun 25th 2009 11:38PM
Maybe that's cuz he's NOT funny...
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 25th 2009 11:20PM
Well yeah of course fallon beat him at a video game. To be fair lets have them face off in an actual sport, like basketball. I hear Tiger's a pretty decent player, and he's a huge Orlando Magic fan.
Johnny @ Jun 25th 2009 11:35PM
Tiger would woop him at real golf
WREturns @ Jun 25th 2009 11:41PM
I don't know, Johnny...
DangerMouse @ Jun 25th 2009 11:58PM
Tiger would woop him at hosting a late night show, too.
__smooth__ @ Jun 26th 2009 12:19AM
bet you he couldn't if he only had a putter.
Dave @ Jun 25th 2009 11:37PM
"...aging classic rockers are incapable of grasping the musical mechanics of Rock Band" should've been hyperlinked. That sounds hilarious.
Peace Fog @ Jun 26th 2009 1:05AM
Agreed!
El Capitaine @ Jun 26th 2009 1:58AM
As soon as I read that line, I was surprised it wasn't hyperlinked...

I thought that the wii motion plus was supposed to bring 1-to-1? shouldn't tiger have the advantage in that case?
Feba @ Jun 26th 2009 10:39AM
No. It's the same reason that normal people can beat race car drivers on simulators, or race car drivers can improve their track times on simulators but not in real life.
People on simulators, to be brief, take more risks. On a simulator, it doesn't matter if your move might cause you to spin out; then you just have to restart. On a simulator, it doesn't matter if you take a risk and fail. In real life, it does. Especially in a real life event, where taking a risk can lead to not just personal injury, but losing the event.
Also keep in mind that even with 1:1 motion tracking, it cannot provide the same feedback. Tiger doesn't have the benefit of the weight of the club, the thwack of hitting the ball, the feeling of the wind. Fallon presumably practiced on the simulator, and thus is more used to its differences.
patrickhuynguyen @ Jun 26th 2009 1:06AM
goes to show you the accuracy of the wii motion plus...
WREturns @ Jun 26th 2009 3:28AM
...hurr!
NotSoFast @ Jun 26th 2009 1:29AM
Fallon just had a rematch with Tiger on his late night show. They both played terrible, but Tiger edged him out by one stroke (bogey vs double-bogey). It was great television, now Tiger wants to play him in real golf.
Brett @ Jun 26th 2009 1:32AM
Tiger won the one-hole rematch on the show. Overall it was a pretty good pitch for the game in my opinion. it seems to be selling quite wells anyways and this can't hurt
Matthew @ Jun 26th 2009 1:53AM
Here are my thoughts about this event and what it says about the Wii in general: http://www.gameinmind.com/game-in-mind/2009/06/wii-are-not-amused.html
PN04 @ Jun 26th 2009 2:21AM
I've argued that the Wii was just a gamecube with a fancy waggle wand in the past few years myself, but the thing that really helped the wii is simply the fact that they (1) released a system that was half the price of it's competitors and (2) "short shipped" the supply so that every time someone went to the store and couldnt find one they assumed it was super popular which in tern raised the demand artificially since they couldnt just plunk down an extra 20 and buy something else they frantically cam back every week making other customers in the store aware that people were trying hard to get it.
WREturns @ Jun 26th 2009 3:33AM
Man, the "Short-shipped" theory is as dumb as they come. You gotta get a new one. Hell, sometimes I got to the store and they don't have any PS3s and they haven't sold half as many PS3s as Wiis. But you're probably right. I bet Sony is copying Nintendo's wacky logistic policies in order to drive demand.
Cody @ Jun 26th 2009 8:52AM
That's right PN04, they "short shipped" the Wii into the fastest selling console figures, unsurpassed by any console sales in the history of console sales.
Damn them for holdin back that supply!!
Mr Khan @ Jun 26th 2009 12:33PM
Are we in a time warp? It sounds like 2007 again around here.
Girugamuk (Moptimus Slimed) @ Jun 26th 2009 4:19PM
"Here's a prime example: During an exhibition in Times Square, Tiger Woods lost at his supposedly ultra-accurate, Wii-Motion-bundled Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 game... to late-night host and awkward fanboy Jimmy Fallon. Was it a fluke? Fallon beat Woods again later in the evening in his television studio. Much humble laughter and product shilling ensued"
yep, that totally proves how much of a scam WM+ is. Thank god there are true patriots like you out there watching over the gaming industry from high aloft your pedestal
Girugamuk (Moptimus Slimed) @ Jun 26th 2009 4:20PM
also, Fallon LOST later. If you watched the show, you would've known that
dronesensor @ Jun 28th 2009 2:34AM
No one cares. You're a horrible writer. Now go away.
PN04 @ Jun 26th 2009 2:11AM
yeah Fallon lost the rematch by one stroke. But it's more telling that the Motion plus was FAR AWAY from one to one control. the lag in the swing was ridiculous, for a minute I was wondering if they were using the motion plus at all.
Mr. M @ Jun 26th 2009 5:09AM
Please stop reporting on that talentless hack Fallon. PLEASE!
Lustis @ Jun 26th 2009 5:37AM
I think I'm Fallon's only fan. That guy always makes me laugh. Him laughing in ALL of his old skits never failed to make me laugh too. He always seems so happy
johnny @ Jun 26th 2009 8:31AM
He only seems happy because he laughs to the hide the pain buried deep in his soul.
Lustis @ Jun 26th 2009 8:39AM
Yeah, I'm sure that's what it is...
alienterrorist @ Jun 26th 2009 10:06AM
Nope, i'm also a pretty big fan. I used to think the reason people didnt like him was because he replaced conan but hes back and people still hate him. Yeah, he not as funny as conan but remember, when conan first started, he wasnt that funny and not that many people like him but look at him know; he has to wait like 20 min at the beginning of each show for everyone to stop screaming.
Lustis @ Jun 26th 2009 10:24AM
That's a good point. I think when Conan started I didn't understand what type of humor he was. Now I love the giant
bongoes @ Jun 26th 2009 10:31AM
I like Fallon, It's a very different show from Conan's so of course people will hate it.
BowserUSC @ Jun 26th 2009 1:03PM
Kind of says to me, "you thought this wii stuff was realistic, you're an idiot, it's just swinging your arms around like a moron until you get it right."
But honestly, the people I notice who are best at wii games always sit on their ass and are able to do everything perfectly with wrist movements. Very athletic /sarcasm
