Jimmy Fallon takes on Tiger Woods this Thursday night
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon host, uh, Jimmy Fallon, laid down the gauntlet for one golf legend Tiger Woods recently, challenging him in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on Wii. Kotaku reports that Tiger has accepted and will play Fallon on his late-night show this Thursday.
We take special interest in this because we've always had a dream of challenging Bill Laimbeer in his stellar SNES basketball romp, Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball, so you can bet we'll be cheering Fallon on all the way.

Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jun 25th 2009 2:12AM
awful video games
WINterfang @ Jun 25th 2009 1:11AM
Probably the part about Projet Neytal give him a lot of publicity.
LaughingMan @ Jun 25th 2009 1:12AM
Yeah yeah... I get it. Jimmy Fallon is all about being young and hip and into games and everything my generation loves...
That doesn't change the fact that Jimmy Fallon SUCKS and is the most unfunny man on television.
offday @ Jun 25th 2009 10:04AM
Not true. Have you ever seen Carson Daly's show?
NaeemTHM @ Jun 25th 2009 10:30AM
^Indeed. Jimmy Fallon might be bad, but Carson Daily is about as much fun as watching paint dry.
Drew @ Jun 25th 2009 12:03PM
Don't forget Leno.
Oh yeah. i went there.
ExMcCloud @ Jun 25th 2009 1:35AM
Go Tiger!!!! Why u ask? Cuz Jimmy Fallon freaking stinks!!!! Is he even a real comedian?
Roto13 @ Jun 25th 2009 2:55AM
He still does standup every other weekend, apparently, so he's still a comedian. (Not necessarily a very good one, though.)
Deadpool @ Jun 25th 2009 2:15AM
HEY! Fallon is really trying hard to make this show work and you're all saying he sucks? Come on guys, you just can't go around and complain about everything. That's not what the internet is all abou.....oh wait. o_0
Roto13 @ Jun 25th 2009 2:51AM
Oh, he's definitely trying hard. Way, way too hard. He's always brown nosing his guests ("OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU SO MUCH") and his enthusiasm comes off as phony. And he's realized that he's a big hit with the stoner crowd so he's been pandering to them lately and that's really off-putting.
I realize that it can take a while for a talk show host to grow into the role (Conan, for example, was absolutely terrible when he started and now he's great at it) but Fallon isn't improving and, if anything, is getting worse. I watch four other late night talk shows (plus the Daily Show and Colbert Report) but I decided a could of days ago to just give up on Jimmy Fallon and now I'm only going to watch his show if he has a particularly interesting guest on. :P Seriously, it feels like he's targeting a demographic younger than mine and I'm only in my mid 20s. >_>
Oh, this is a video game blog. How 'bout that Tiger Woods game, eh?
Deadpool @ Jun 25th 2009 3:22AM
I will say they gave Fallon an awesome theme. Aww, lets face it! The only reason I watch the show is because of the Roots. But the Roots can't save Fallon from a bad joke.
Oh yeah...the Tiger Woods game. It looks fine. Nice and golfy. It's just like you're playing the real thing. Ummm...Tiger Woods is in it with other golfers we all know. Like...that other guy that golfs....Aww forget it!
[takes out laser and shoots the post]
It was a boring conversation anyway...
Roto13 @ Jun 25th 2009 12:18PM
The Roots are definitely not the problem with the show. :P (And that's probably the best theme song in late night. They should release it on iTunes or something. :P)
Maulok @ Jun 29th 2009 4:54PM
Deadpool, I didn't know you posted here. Your current series is pretty great. Sorry to hear about Bea, you have my condolences... Ditto for your movie portrayal.
Sly @ Jun 25th 2009 2:23AM
does this mean i get to challenge john madden to some madden '10? i'll win easy.
MADDEN, I'M CALLIN YOU OUT.
Judd @ Jun 25th 2009 2:32AM
If Jimmy Fallon will regularly be having game demonstrations during his shows...

then at what point will a game being demoed on his program not be a story?
Garst @ Jun 25th 2009 3:13AM
Thanks for the heads up not to watch something I don't watch. Who really buys golf games? And what kind of loser is going to watch someone else play a golf game?
Ridgecity @ Jun 25th 2009 3:40AM
seeing Tiger Woods play his own game is worth seeing. I wonder what he will say about the wiimote plus?
Cody @ Jun 25th 2009 9:06AM
"I wonder what he will say about the wiimote plus?"
Probably something along the lines of "This is fucking amazing".
VaultICEE @ Jun 25th 2009 4:20AM
Awwwww, come on. Fallon's show isn't that bad. I mean, its obvious that most of the time Jimmy Fallon has the deer in headlights look on his face, but a lot of the stuff on his show is pretty funny.
If anything, at least credit the writers.
alienterrorist @ Jun 25th 2009 6:05AM
AM I THE OBLY ONE WHO LIKES JIMMY FALLON?????????? I think he is prety funny its just that he still seems very nervous. If you give it a few months, I think he will be great.
uncle jesse @ Jun 25th 2009 9:55AM
YES, YOU ARE THE OBLY ONE THAT LIKES JIMMY FALLON!!!!!!!!!!!
AsherR @ Jun 25th 2009 10:41AM
No, I'm sure Jimmy Fallon likes Jimmy Fallon.
But hey, I hope he grows into the position more. I still thought he was relatively funny on SNL.
Masker @ Jun 25th 2009 10:48AM
Heck, i like Jimmy Fallon.
I Don't see what's so bad about him.
You can see a few errors but He just started so he has time...
milan @ Jun 25th 2009 6:20AM
I'd like to see Craig Ferguson do something like this, but he'd have to stop getting so high before every show!
Wizzleteets @ Jun 25th 2009 7:36AM
People, people, I think we're missing the point here: Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball. That game was friggin' sweet.
PixelHustler @ Jun 25th 2009 2:14PM
THIS!
Combat Basketball was so bad that it's great. I remember playing it with my college buddies a few years ago and being entertained for hours at how horrendous the game was. One button did pretty much everything in that game. It's like a predecessor to Kirby's Air Ride.
Caveman @ Jun 25th 2009 2:00PM
now I'm going to have to tune in, not for Jimmy Fallon, but just to see if Tiger Woods is actually good at his own game.
Hopefully he won't have another knee injury :X
benjamines @ Jun 25th 2009 9:42AM
Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball is the worst game for any system ever. And I've played ET for Atari.
uncle jesse @ Jun 25th 2009 9:58AM
As much as I really dislike Fallon, they are doing a good job in trying to rope in viewers by having great guests on every night. I find myself watching his show more than I would like to because of it. I'll tune in to see Tiger.
The difference will show though once the good guests run out and you don't have a stacked lineup every night. Look at Conan or Letterman or the others. Even when they have Al Roker on as their first guest, the show can be amazing because of the host themselves. They have the ability to elevate the show and bring the funny without relying on the guests to do it for them.
AsherR @ Jun 25th 2009 10:55AM
While I agree with you, I think that Fallon will (hopefully) grow into his role as a host and find out what people do and do not like. (Here's a hint Jimmy: Having people lick stuff is not good entertainment.)
I didn't watch Conan when he first started, but I assume he was pretty weak when he was adjusting. Same with Leno.
Cody @ Jun 25th 2009 11:30AM
"Having people lick stuff is not good entertainment.)"
Depends on who those people are and what they are lickin! Ow!!
Mr. Fister @ Jun 25th 2009 10:09AM
I've got this set to record on my DVR tonight. I don't really care for Jimmy Fallon, but the demonstration of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 has me intrigued.
Garu @ Jun 25th 2009 12:00PM
I always wanted to challenge Lee Carvallo in "Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge"
I hate when my ball ends up in the parking lot. It's a okay game, but it's no "Bonestorm"!!
Deadpool @ Jun 29th 2009 6:48PM
Thanks, Rambo! =D
