Late Night with Jimmy Fallon host, uh, Jimmy Fallon, laid down the gauntlet for one golf legend Tiger Woods recently, challenging him in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on Wii. Kotaku reports that Tiger has accepted and will play Fallon on his late-night show this Thursday.
We take special interest in this because we've always had a dream of challenging Bill Laimbeer in his stellar SNES basketball romp, Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball, so you can bet we'll be cheering Fallon on all the way.

Yeah yeah... I get it. Jimmy Fallon is all about being young and hip and into games and everything my generation loves...
That doesn't change the fact that Jimmy Fallon SUCKS and is the most unfunny man on television.

Oh, he's definitely trying hard. Way, way too hard. He's always brown nosing his guests ("OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU SO MUCH") and his enthusiasm comes off as phony. And he's realized that he's a big hit with the stoner crowd so he's been pandering to them lately and that's really off-putting.
I realize that it can take a while for a talk show host to grow into the role (Conan, for example, was absolutely terrible when he started and now he's great at it) but Fallon isn't improving and, if anything, is getting worse. I watch four other late night talk shows (plus the Daily Show and Colbert Report) but I decided a could of days ago to just give up on Jimmy Fallon and now I'm only going to watch his show if he has a particularly interesting guest on. :P Seriously, it feels like he's targeting a demographic younger than mine and I'm only in my mid 20s. >_>
Oh, this is a video game blog. How 'bout that Tiger Woods game, eh?

I will say they gave Fallon an awesome theme. Aww, lets face it! The only reason I watch the show is because of the Roots. But the Roots can't save Fallon from a bad joke.
Oh yeah...the Tiger Woods game. It looks fine. Nice and golfy. It's just like you're playing the real thing. Ummm...Tiger Woods is in it with other golfers we all know. Like...that other guy that golfs....Aww forget it!

It was a boring conversation anyway...

If Jimmy Fallon will regularly be having game demonstrations during his shows...

then at what point will a game being demoed on his program not be a story?

"I wonder what he will say about the wiimote plus?"
Probably something along the lines of "This is fucking amazing".

Awwwww, come on. Fallon's show isn't that bad. I mean, its obvious that most of the time Jimmy Fallon has the deer in headlights look on his face, but a lot of the stuff on his show is pretty funny.
If anything, at least credit the writers.

I'd like to see Craig Ferguson do something like this, but he'd have to stop getting so high before every show!

People, people, I think we're missing the point here: Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball. That game was friggin' sweet.

THIS!
Combat Basketball was so bad that it's great. I remember playing it with my college buddies a few years ago and being entertained for hours at how horrendous the game was. One button did pretty much everything in that game. It's like a predecessor to Kirby's Air Ride.

now I'm going to have to tune in, not for Jimmy Fallon, but just to see if Tiger Woods is actually good at his own game.
Hopefully he won't have another knee injury :X

Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball is the worst game for any system ever. And I've played ET for Atari.

As much as I really dislike Fallon, they are doing a good job in trying to rope in viewers by having great guests on every night. I find myself watching his show more than I would like to because of it. I'll tune in to see Tiger.
The difference will show though once the good guests run out and you don't have a stacked lineup every night. Look at Conan or Letterman or the others. Even when they have Al Roker on as their first guest, the show can be amazing because of the host themselves. They have the ability to elevate the show and bring the funny without relying on the guests to do it for them.

While I agree with you, I think that Fallon will (hopefully) grow into his role as a host and find out what people do and do not like. (Here's a hint Jimmy: Having people lick stuff is not good entertainment.)
I didn't watch Conan when he first started, but I assume he was pretty weak when he was adjusting. Same with Leno.
