But don't you see WiredKnight? This is just the beginning. They already have a RewardZone Gamers Club. The only thing left is a magazine subscription that comes with an extra incentive to earn points when you buy games. Before you know it, Best Buy will be locking down exclusive content to pre-orders just like Gamestop and pestering you to "check out the new trade-in kiosk. it's totally rad!"

There's one thing and only one thing that will keep me from going to Best Buy: "Do you want to pre-order X today?"

Other than that, they have their Gamer Zone thing that gives me nice coupons for future game purchases, so that's enough to keep me there.

Looks exactly like the Wal-Mart kiosks. I'd venture a guess that e-Play is behind this as well...

Looks like they are getting them from the same company providing them to Wal-Mart.

Game in case goes in, game in sleeve comes out.

Where do the cases go? I sense something foul and sinister.

The cases are ground into paper/plastic powder, which is then subjected to extremely high heat. This breaks down the plastic into oils, which are used to power the kiosk.

Eventually, when the kiosks of the world have enough power, they will communicate to each other over the internet, and then begin the terrible kiosk uprising!

Soon, the world will be covered in game-case manufacturing plants, to appease our kiosk overlords!

The machine instructs you to put the discs into a disc slot (which apparently checks the condition of the discs) under the screen(s), and the cases in a different slot on the right side of the machine.

I assume that a scanner that can check and probably would check the quality and number of scratches on a disc can also scan the top for image comparison, and also check the middle for holograms and the bottom for the classic ps2 black disc bottom, and ps3 ones for blu ray, etc.
fignerprint technology anyone?

This is smart move by Best Buy. If thier prices for those used game rentals are decent, they'll make alot of money.

There's not a BestBuy in my area and the closest one is about 2 hours from where I live so this doesn't really affect me very much. I just wonder how much credit you'll get as compared to the likes of GameStop and GameCrazy

"...we watched a group of Best Buy employees gather around the kiosk in quiet awe."

Going to be an even quieter awe when half off them get laid-off on the back off this ridiculous lump off plastic and wires.

God I hope this puts Gamestop out of business.

They could give $5 per trade in and charge $5 less per used game and STILL make a fuckton of a profit.
