PSA: How fake is Don Mattrick's Twitter? So fake

A quick public service announcement to any and all tipsters sending us links to Don Mattrick's official Twitter account: It's fake. Sure, it would have been nice to reveal new Halo: Reach related details, but the only news out of the Twitter account is that there is no news at all. Really, we're not surprised with such masterfully crafted tweets as: "We're currently working with a third party studio on a new xbox 360 exclusive game engine to showcase unmatched graphical fidilty." Yes, "fidilty."

Microsoft's (real) Twitter expert Major Nelson -- aka Larry Hryb -- tells us he is currently working with the Twitter team to have the account removed. With so many fake accounts, it's no wonder Twitter is testing a new "Verified Account" label. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Don Mattrick for inspiring a phony Twitter account, following good company such as artist Kanye West, ass-kicker Chuck Norris and all of the Pokemans.

Well, if it helps you feel better, even if it was real Twitter would still be completely pointless.

Apparently GamePro's Tae Kim and 1up's Garret Lee have been using Twitter to badmouth the commenters complaining about Kim's Conduit review (Kim stated his wish to kill them all with a Red Faction sledgehammer), so at least Twitter has entertainment value

Never mind being made of spelling fail (which in the tweet's txt speak is forgiveable) at least if you make a fake account it should be funny. just making a fake account for fake news is kinda made of fail.

Funny that the person commenting on "spelling fail" has more of it in his post then the actual tweet in question. Not to mention "punctuation fail".

But I'm not impersonating a anyone. I'm just commenting on a blog, when it comes to say writing up important things then I'll give more of a damn on my spelling and punctuation.
Actually I reread that through twice, where's the spelling mistakes?

Abusers of the system have rapidly overtaken it. I still recall the burn of the fake Retro Studios account that posted days before E3...

why remove it? I love the fake accounts. Hell, there was a fake Billy Mays account that was fucking hilarious. Now all I have left is the fake Phillip Rivers account D:

The only stuff like this that I have an account for is youtube and myspace. The myspace one is old from college and I log in maybe ... 2-3 times a year in an active year. The youtube one is to post an occasional video and not for networking.

Joystiq is really the only semi-social network I am active in if you don't count my PSN friends list.

I'm sure all of you can sleep at night now that you know my non-existent online social networking usage. =^o_O^=
