SOE announces EverQuest: Underfoot and Everquest II: Sentinel's Fate expansions
Our sister site BigDownload has the scoop on a pair of new expansions for SOE's popular Everquest franchise that were announced at this week's Fan Faire in Las Vegas. First up is the 16th commercial expansion for 1999's Everquest, Everquest: Underfoot. Due for release this November, the expansion brings with it a new underground zone to explore, with new creatures to battle, and even less reason to leave your house.
Probably more relevant is Everquest II: Sentinel's Fate, the sixth commercial expansion for Everquest II. Due for release in February 2010, Sentinel's Fate will raise the level cap to 90, allowing you to spend ten more levels beefing up that Summoner of yours.

EQ1 cannot be stopped. I really do hope that people play that and Ultima Online forever.

Underfoot, huh? Does that mean it will force you with a mandatory toddler sidekick that only gets in your way?

SOE are working on these expansions, on top of The Agency and DC Universe Online. I wonder if they will make a full featured Everquest game for PS3.

You can probably count on Everquest 3 being a PC/PS3 title.

Well I figured that much. I'm more curious as to when they will start the development process on it. (if they haven't already)

Serious question:
What sets apart the first EverQuest from its sequel that would make you still want to play it over EQ2?
I just find it odd that an MMO and its PREQUEL are both getting expansions. Obviously people still play the first EQ, otherwise SOE wouldn't bother with this. I'm just honestly curious as to why.

I'd take a guess and say its a system requirement thing. Those on the lower end of the of the PC spectrum play the first, and those with the more powerful computers play the second. Just a guess though.

The games are quite different. EQ is an incredibly unforgiving game while EQ2 is much more mass market friendly.

LaughingTarget is right on. EQ1 can be a real bitch at times, especially if you're not prepared for an encounter. EQ2 is almost as easy as WoW, but is set in Norrath.

I know this is an MMO but I wish evey co
pant was this dedicated to their games.
