Burnout Paradise experts awarded with free Diamond P12
In our excitement to introduce you to the latest DLC content for Burnout Paradise, we completely overlooked one of the key rewards added to the game. Yes, we've already mentioned how gamers can get their hands on free toy versions of the Legendary Cars on Big Surf, but did you know an elusive ninth free car is available for online experts only?
Completing all of Burnout Paradise's 500 online freeburn challenges -- including everything from the original game and all new timed and freeburn challenges in the Cagney update, Bikes Pack and challenges on Big Surf Island -- nets players a diamond-branded P12. Finish it all and nab the exclusive ride, free. What better way to show off your Burnout Paradise superiority than driving around in a diamond-studded speed demon?! The race is on for our community's first official Diamond P12 owner. It shouldn't take you long, you're part of the gaming elite.

Do not want.
Sly @ Jun 28th 2009 10:07PM
agreed. it looks like what some wannabe gangta from the 90's would drive.
Sly @ Jun 28th 2009 10:07PM
*gangsta
lobotomies4free @ Jun 28th 2009 11:19PM
it actually drives real nice. P12 with a bit more top end power and some downforce.
Arctrick @ Jun 28th 2009 10:04PM
I kinda want it... but I know I won't be anytime soon.
so wrong @ Jun 28th 2009 10:06PM
does this get unlocked by the time saver pack? That would be BS.
Sly @ Jun 28th 2009 10:06PM
to put it simply, no.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 28th 2009 10:20PM
Getting 500 is no small task. I've played for around 60 hours total and I only have about 92 or so (granted, not all of that time was online). You pretty much gotta get your own game going and either have friends help you or lock the game when a person gets in so you can do 2 people challenges, then 3, 4 and so on.
Marty McFly @ Jun 28th 2009 10:24PM
I have a couple friends on my list that already have it. I'm about 50 challenges away from getting it myself... but I'm in no rush to get it. I'm more than happy with my 101% complete. :)
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jun 28th 2009 10:36PM
I just have to ask. Is Criterion trying to make the greatest arcade racer of all time? Because they're doing a terrific job getting there.
Jesus (PSN: Luttdawg) @ Jun 28th 2009 10:42PM
Agreed. I think they are pretty damn close. The replay value is unmatched.
nighttime__ @ Jun 29th 2009 12:15AM
I wish they would bring back the crashbreaker.
DBrim @ Jun 29th 2009 11:50AM
Agreed on the replay value. I'm at 150 hours and counting (plus bike time, still need to finish my bike license/road rules).
PsEG @ Jun 28th 2009 10:41PM
I've had it since the first day Big Surf Island came out, since the ten island freeburn challenges weren't too daunting. I had an unhealthy addiction to Burnout Paradise's multiplayer last summer, and worked my way through the 490 previous challenges after *far* too much repetition.
To be honest, I didn't even realize the P12 Diamond was a super-special car until people started mentioning it as such. I thought it was just a decent "great job completing everything on the island" prize car. It's OK and handles well, I suppose, but I still prefer the dune buggy or the GT Concept.
Cheesus(Crust) @ Jun 28th 2009 10:42PM
Come to PC please
Cheesus(Crust) @ Jun 28th 2009 10:45PM
Guys, how do I get the password for returning users? It is not in the confirmation email
Cheesus(Crust) @ Jun 28th 2009 10:47PM
Ok I got it!
Deaddy @ Jun 28th 2009 10:43PM
That car isn't free, you pay for it with Big Surf Island.
DjDATZ @ Jun 29th 2009 1:03AM
+1... It's not free... It's included in the pack and you unlock it by completing all 500 challenges.
LordPaul @ Jun 29th 2009 5:09AM
Uh, surely in that case none of the free DLC is free as you get it with the game, you just have to complete the game to get it.
Deaddy @ Jun 29th 2009 2:39PM
Are you kidding? The free DLC was released separately from anything else. The diamond car comes with the Island DLC and is listed as one of 9 Island cars on your island license. They are two completely different things.
ExMcCloud @ Jun 28th 2009 10:48PM
No way in hell I'm getting that car...lol
ToadStoolPorridge @ Jun 28th 2009 10:58PM
I tried to like this game, but I just couldn't. I think I may revisit the game this Summer, but last year I spent a lot more time with GRiD than I did with Burnout. I think with all the new updates and all, this game deserves a second look a year later, though.
Kill a mans jiro @ Jun 28th 2009 11:05PM
So you can easily unlock a car that flies but have to spend 567654567 Hours 100% completing the game to unlock a car with a diamond on the side?
Anywho, i might just get this, it looks better than i thought, (the island)
Tarheel @ Jun 28th 2009 11:05PM
I love this game, and thought the Island pack was fantastic, but I never did that much online stuff and only have about 80 challenges done. Props to anyone that does all 500.
FreshJulius @ Jun 29th 2009 11:31AM
That's because you're a tarheel... you probably weren't winning and said just wait til basketball season...
;)
DBrim @ Jun 28th 2009 11:49PM
Got mine today, and I've seen plenty around.
An essential tip is that hosting your own freeburn will rapidly increase your pace.
Muckrak3r @ Jun 28th 2009 11:50PM
Of course it will, host for the win
DjDATZ @ Jun 29th 2009 1:05AM
It really depends on your connection. Mine is personally rated really poorly, so not many people will join. I have a better time joining an already in-progress game, and getting the host to do the challenges I need for that number of people.
NEB @ Jun 28th 2009 11:50PM
Arn't all these cars the same performance wise? Do they only vary on aesthetics?
hurricane @ Jun 29th 2009 12:27AM
Nope to both.
RedSonRising @ Jun 28th 2009 11:52PM
doh!.. i wanted a free car! i actually have to play the game a lot to get it? nevermind..
mars @ Jun 29th 2009 1:09AM
somewhat on topic:
I still can't find the last megajump in the game. It says I have completed 14 out of the 15, but I seriously cannot find it, and have been going around like a madman doing every jump I see. Anyone care to make a map of them so I can hit them and cross them off? I feel like its probably one that I jumped but crashed on, so it didn't count
Smak @ Jun 29th 2009 1:34AM
1) Go To Google
2) type "Burnout Paradise Mega Jumps"
Figure it out from there.
flubba @ Jun 29th 2009 2:57AM
Even better go to
http://burnoutteamrocks.com/
and figure it from there.
Wadey @ Jun 29th 2009 8:08AM
Except the site you upload your savegame to doesn't include the island so its actually no use to finding the mega-jumps.
vix @ Jun 29th 2009 1:16AM
um, this has been known since the day the island came out. i got my p12 that night. not exactly sure why you guys are posting this now...and with a video on how to do it. it's not like you can cheat it and unlock it or anything.
it's the weakest award in the game especially for something that requires so much work.
Tez @ Jun 29th 2009 2:51PM
The video is old, too. So not only is this not-really-news, it's old not-really-news.
Smak @ Jun 29th 2009 1:32AM
So, what exactly are you going to do with this car if you unlock it by *doing everything*?
I've always been a little perplexed by these styles of unlockables. Make you work so hard in the game for something that is essentially useless (yes, I realize that comment is full of irony, but still)
Uncontrol @ Jun 29th 2009 3:39AM
yeah man, racing games have no replay value at all
wtf am i supposed to do once i beat the final boss
cuteSAVAGE @ Jun 29th 2009 4:09AM
I don't like these kinds of end-game rewards either, but only because I'll never EVER attain them. They are cool for people who are really into the games but I wish most of them had alternative unlock methods (I'm looking at you Luigi in Super Mario Galaxy!). Paradise is a lot of fun though, one of the few games where the slow progression of unlocking the good stuff seems worth it.
Snowblind @ Jun 29th 2009 5:06AM
Well, it's supposed to be a reward for doing everything in the game, giving another unlock method would kind of defeat the purpose. Also, Luigi isn't particularly hard to unlock, just have to be careful with the purple coins :P
hart704 @ Jun 29th 2009 1:45AM
Already have the car.
BAWWW @ Jun 29th 2009 3:23AM
Soooooo not worth it.
DBrim @ Jun 29th 2009 4:57AM
Depends on how you look at it. I like Burnout Paradise. I like freeburn challenges. I like saying I have 100% in something.
In other words, I'd have done them all even with no car at the end.
I'm a bit bummed that this probably means that they won't be adding any more challenges, though.
DJcube @ Jun 29th 2009 4:24AM
It looks great in bright orange.
Snappy @ Jun 29th 2009 4:44AM
First island car I earned, got it in 5 minutes easy. Not worth the months of work prior to the island as there are cars much, much, much better.
Trevsweb @ Jun 29th 2009 5:18AM
would be worth it if it was a new car... stupid re-skined cars are not new cars just new finishes. ill stick with my toy 88 jansan special :)
Brian @ Jun 29th 2009 6:06AM
Tommy Noob
xD I bet he gets slagged so much.
ScottG13 @ Jun 29th 2009 8:16AM
Great reward. Burnout continues to be the series that keeps on giving.
